  • Good lord, a frustrating game indeed. So many forces on both sides and neither did anything substantial for way too long.

Teal needs more aggression. He could've had this thing in the bag two videos earlier.

    Thanks Cholera.

  • i expected better micro... goliaths can be micro'd vs mutalisks.. zerg should have switched to hydralurk or used some cracklings

  • tf these guys were spending alot more than they oculd be able to handle when it comes back to them in the end... Bad economy skills.

  • although teal wins, he needs to grow some balls. With his first massive army, he could have siege OJ's main and roll in. Instead he underestimated himself and went for the upper Exp.

    Failed.

  • jesus if these guys can play in a college league i should be semi-pro

  • Fustrating game. Way to long.

  • Does a ramp even matter when fighting ground to air? Not considering sight issues of course.

  • i think that the issue was that his army was split half on top and half on bottom of the ramp so he was only able to attack with half his units compared to the zergs full force

  • Both of them horribly sucked.

  • not bad makes me look good like watching theses guys play over the koreans their to godly lol

  • teal needs to uninstall sc and go study.

  • Christ obsessed with muta - what a boring game with no tech switches.

  • Yeah.. A muta plus hydra/lurker are surely effective against those goliath esp if there are few tanks.

  • I found this game very entertaining and these players were both very good, but it was way longer than it needed to be. That's like the safest play I've ever seen from a Terran. It was wierd that the zerg didn't switch to hydras/mutas but you gotta play to your strengths and he did a good job with what he had.

  • what an exciting game! I just feel they played like professional gamers.

  • Come on. None of the players adapted to the other players strategy. Zerg could have easily won the game by adding some hydra/lurkers, or going for some mutaharass.

And just a push would have won the game for terran early on.

It was hard to watch, but the micro was quite ok.

  • r u joking terran couldve won in begginning if he ran past and zerg couldve won with hydras.. -.- i dont even play anymore and i know that come on man

  • WTF... why the hell was he still using mutas in late game? Why didnt he switch to Hydra, or hell even get some cracklings. He didnt even get Hive after 25 minutes.

  • This was painful to watch at times

  • each goliath doing 12 damage to the mutas? I thought they did a lot more than that

  • I believe they only do half damage to the muta's armor type.

  • Goliaths' missiles are explosive-type damage, which only deals full damage to large units. Mutalisks are not in the class of large units. I think they are medium.

  • Mutalisks are small. Goliaths do 50% to them.

  • Wow nesh is such a nub, he couldnt even noob-micro his goliaths up the friggin ramps! I bet 250 of those 300 APM's are just quad-click move orders lol.. Pointless.

  • hmm it appears the play list for semi finals might be in reverse order haha. O well :P

  • noob nesh. He didnt really win, horrible mistakes, bad player

  • Jolin was also dumb, staying on Lair-tech the entire game.

  • People whom go to school in New Jersey plays likes Nash, retarded.

  • although the same could be said for Texas

  • This was a much higher level game than I expected

  • er.. they're both rather unimpressive.. zerg seems to be stubborn on going mutas and its basically the only unit he does anything with (he uses his lings to entertain the gols and give them target practice), and the terran isnt exactly a strategic genius.

  • Mutalisks>Goliaths with Charon Boosters? No.

  • Agree with naisanza, great commenting as allways, but i was sick watching this game. Both players where horrible, dont know how u managed to comment this whole thing ^^

  • great commentating. horrible game

  • Btw, why do goliath deal less damage than they should to mutalisk, since they are AA units?

Basically goliath does 20 with missiles so it should take them 6-7 hits to kill a muta but it seems the muta endure more than that and take only like 10 damages.

  • Mutalisks are considered small units, while goliaths deal explosive damage. Explosive damage is not as effective vs small units.

  • Thanks a lot, but then the same apply to valkyries i suppose?

  • dam crazy game. reminds me of BoxeR's gols vs sAviOr

  • doggie icon ftw

  • LOL :)

    Mine's the chess pieces.

  • this was - oddly enough, as it was just a showmatch - the most interesting to watch of the CSL so far.

  • :( i go to rutgers so that forfeit is even more frustrating considering they could've won if they'd played that game. a big WTF on that forfeit. im gonna look into that.

also big wtf to jolin only making mutalisks

  • nesh sustaining 370apm throughout the game.. thats pretty pro-like .. i bet he could beat waterfist easily :D

  • yeah because APM is the only thing that matters!

    but yeah, maybe that fist-guy...

  • his apm high but all of his desisions wear pretty bad... and that's much more important then apm

  • Thanks, Mr. Professor

  • Yeah, high APM may just mean a huge amount of Mistakes Per Minute.

  • goliaths dealing 11 damage to mutas?!

remember ur own test on the idol cholera? ;)

    got u theeere.. yeehaw

  • Bahamut, Goliaths deal 10 explosive AA damage base with two bonus for each of two hits (shows up as 20 base with 4 bonus), and Mutalisks are small air units with no base armor. Here the Goliaths had +1 weapons and the Mutalisks had +1 armor. The calculation is (Base dmg + bonus * upgrades - armor) * (Dmg type modifier) * (# of hits), which here is (10 + 2 * 1 - 1) * 0.5 * 2 = 11. The damage type modifier is 0.5 because explosive damage only deals 50% damage to small units.

    Got you there ; ).

  • Right, didnt think goliaths could ever do an uneven number of dmg to mutas.

  • so...he would've been better off with up'ed rines?

  • I guess so, with a squad of marine i can kill a few harassing mutas quite easily.

You can have at least 2 marines for 1 goliath, and marines deal 6 base, i think they fire twice faster with stimpak, that makes 2*2*6=24 damages instead of 11

  • Here, +1 weapons Marines would deal 6 damage per hit to the Mutalisks: (6 + 1 * 1 - 1) * 1 * 1 = 6. Their cooldown with Stim Packs is 7.5 compared to Goliaths' 22, so their DPS is 60% higher than a Goliath's. Marines also cost half the minerals, are gas-free, and can be healed by meidcs, and they are lower tech and build in just over half the time. However, they would only have 5 range to the Goliaths' 8, 7 sight to their 8, and 30 hp after stim to their 125 with an armor. So it's a trade-off.

  • goliaths do half damage to mutas though.....so marines are usually a better choice for fighting mutas

  • Well, that was clearly part of my calculation.

Remember that range is hugely important when fighting mutas and that Goliaths also live far longer than rines. I think that these two stats make gols worthwhile, whereas marines are otherwise clearly far superior. Goliaths are also quite useful against big air while rines utterly fail, and they share ups with vults and tanks which are extremely powerful against ground.

  • marines lack the hp and range tho...science vessel/valkyries much bet\ter

  • go for it man, go for it, you're getting attacked, just go for it dude!

    haha great line
