I went back and did some more research and turns out that this "new version" was actually the earliest version of Change. Odd that this version sounds like it has a more highly produced sound as opposed to the other songs on hurting, which have that "dark wave" sound to it.
@aaronp01 Its from my cassette of The Hurting, i kinda thought the hiss at the start would have beena clue .. didnt wanna apply too much cleaning when i used my Magix audio software, as too much can affect the sound in other ways. Still, i musta done a good job if you think its CDQ ... :-)
@TheUTubeTeamSucks ah, so you did clean it up just a tad. well you did do a good job, and i actually didn't notice the hiss at the beginning, but now i'll go back and listen for it lol
now this is the business....my personal favorite band of the 80s...i've just unearthed my cassette with this very version on it...music heaven!!!...thanx for putting this out there for those without a copy...
Although it was titled "new version", this was actually the original (demo?) version of the song with slightly different lyrics. I remember it being on "The Hurting" cassette as an extra track, but I've yet to track down a mp3 version - anyone know where to find it?
Sounds like a demo version. Tears For Fears also had a few song that would say "was not produced" on the credits. They did this with the song "Head Over Heels/Undone"
Very good version. I like the lyrics on this version as well. This was supposed to be the original version but somehow I think it was "changed" slightly.
Thanks. This has been one of my favorite 80's new wave songs ever. The tight production and versatile range of skillfully played instruments blows away anything on the radio today. Today's radio music is just a bunch of grunge (can't tell one damn band from another anymore) or otherwise under-produced CRAP.
thanks for this never heard it

Sounds like how change would sound if they wrote it for Songs from the Big Chair. Also, how is this from a cassette? It sounds like CD-quality....

@aaronp01 lol, well the hiss is most noticable IMO in the first few bars of the song intro as its quieter than the rest of the song.

This sounds more like a Simple Minds arrangement, than a TFF one.

This IS cool. Just when you think you've heard it all, hunh? It definitely slower, no question, but still fantastic! Nice one.
