the supercharged ss cobalts get a 2.0 not a 2.4L. the 2.4 is non turbo or supercharged. they switched the supercharger for a turbo and got 60 more hp out of it in 08 I believe. you can still get a 2.4L but it isn't supercharged or turbo stock and its just for an upgraded interior in the ss trim. basicly all I am saying is it has a 2.0 s/c motor and probably a sri or cai due to the louder s/c
If they were having difficulties that caused the ET to be so high, why does it still seem like it took 16 seconds from start to near finish (based on the video clock)? When the win light came on 17 seconds after the race started, the cars are where they should be. Just wondering.
i think if you want to get a turbo then you need to get higher pressure pistons that could withstand the turbo. at least thats what my friend said. its only with the 3g eclipse though
sorry to say this but your friend is a dumb ass. you use lower compression pistons if you want to run boost. that goes for any import. the lower the compression, the higher the boost you can run.
stock pistons if they are good, can support up to ~10psi, depends on how good. some cars come stock with forged shit. but you really should get a forged rotating assembly (pistons, crank, rods) and better head, rod, and main bolts, etc...

all depends on the dyno and the atmosphere. Here in canada we rate our cars with the SAE setting on dyno. Most, if not all dyno's in the states rate the dyno in STD setting.

Those WHP specs you gave are definantly off because i think both are about even, and i believe they both have about 205 AT THE CRANK. dyno's of stock eclipses show about 170 WHP. and the cobalt cant have much more or else it's sad because they should be able to beat the eclipse by more than half a second or so if they have 30+ more WHP.
Actually, the the specs are true. My buddy and I had his 01 Eclipse GT tested on a dyno, for a baseline before we put the new pistons and intake on it. 201.3hp/191fptq. If you'd like, i'll email you the chart. With the Cobalt, i'm not so sure because i just looked it up on the net. And the internet can sometimes be one of the least reliable sources of info. Example; The KA24de that i have in my car DEAD STOCK, 198whp. Now we all know that's bullshit. lol
actually it doesnt it should have around the same horsepower 205-210 and torque rating at the crank being around 210. Though every car is different and weather conditions will make all readings on a dyno different.

The Cobalt's HP is grossly underated for Insurance savings and to call it an "Eco-coupe". 2nd, then it's a power/weight thing. The Eclipse had a Spray on. Lastly, I own an '01 Eclipse GT w/ a custom intake (in the form of a Sebring LXi) A neighbor has an SS s/c, and he walks me handily from a stop. And from a roll it's laughable. If my motor was DOHC (& not SOHC) I'd be a bigger fan. There's just no heart.

I own a 2000 Eclipse GT. Its simply an economy car with a decent balance of gas mileage and power. Its not impressive when it comes to racing. The V6 3.0 will eventually have alot of decent aftermarket parts and be a decent engine. I'm a muscle car guy myself and don't care to race something like this.

Those WHP specs you gave are definantly off because i think both are about even, and i believe they both have about 205 AT THE CRANK. dyno's of stock eclipses show about 170 WHP. and the cobalt cant have much more or else it's sad because they should be able to beat the eclipse by more than half a second or so if they have 30+ more WHP.

Actually, the the specs are true. My buddy and I had his 01 Eclipse GT tested on a dyno, for a baseline before we put the new pistons and intake on it. 201.3hp/191fptq. If you'd like, i'll email you the chart. With the Cobalt, i'm not so sure because i just looked it up on the net. And the internet can sometimes be one of the least reliable sources of info. Example; The KA24de that i have in my car DEAD STOCK, 198whp. Now we all know that's bullshit. lol

actually it doesnt it should have around the same horsepower 205-210 and torque rating at the crank being around 210. Though every car is different and weather conditions will make all readings on a dyno different.

maybe the eclipse was supercharged?.. yeah because i know for a fact the cobalts that are supercharged have a different spoiler. unless he put an aftermarket supercharger. eclipses succkkkk!

I know there are supercharged cobalts, but I was thinking that supercharger whine was not coming from the Cobalt.. That was way too loud, I was thinking it was from a car getting ready to go next..

The Cobalt's HP is grossly underated for Insurance savings and to call it an "Eco-coupe". 2nd, then it's a power/weight thing. The Eclipse had a Spray on. Lastly, I own an '01 Eclipse GT w/ a custom intake (in the form of a Sebring LXi) A neighbor has an SS s/c, and he walks me handily from a stop. And from a roll it's laughable. If my motor was DOHC (& not SOHC) I'd be a bigger fan. There's just no heart.

The only thing after market on my 00 eclipse gt is an bigger intake manifold, full borla exhaust, aem intake and an aftermarket clutch and i pull a 14.9...its still slow as piss but sure beats a 16+

I own a 2000 Eclipse GT. Its simply an economy car with a decent balance of gas mileage and power. Its not impressive when it comes to racing. The V6 3.0 will eventually have alot of decent aftermarket parts and be a decent engine. I'm a muscle car guy myself and don't care to race something like this.
