  • Stone of philosophers, ruby red stone,

which caused so much sacrifice and misery unknown.

Deceptively though, the stone did appeal

and made foolish men think its happiness real.

O wise philosopher you must grieve no more

if you wish to revive the mirth of before.

You must face your past, for you cannot atone

for the damage you wrought with the wretched red stone.

Where is the land? That land from the past,

which many before you sought and amassed?

  • Take heed of their folly, and don't be deceived

by the trap which left many despaired and bereaved.

Though for happiness, power and ease they did strive,

instead they found death and now none are alive.

Consider these perished; this warning adhere.

Will you continue to seek out this stone you held dear?

You who beheld it’s baneful hue red

when the blood of your own arm and own leg was shed?

Stone of philosophers, ruby red stone.

When will you cease and leave mankind alone?

  • @krismagician *Claps* Very impressive :) did you write that yourself?

  • @EpicFlyingPanda That's the translation...

  • @aang4all It's happening to me to. This song is to epic for my Body to withstand its awesome presence.

  • Were not gods... Were not devils... Were just humans!! And we could`nt even save a innocent girl!

  • I dont know if it's just cold but I got shivers down my spine listening to this.

  • Hmph Hmph

........PANCAKE NIPPLES~!!!!!! Suck on those government...

  • The theme of an unstoppable demon who just took the souls of 50 million people to use as an energy source in order to swallow God.

    Dude O_O

  • where the hell is sparten117dylan's comment?!

  • I feel like a homunculus with this :B

  • this music... I don't know, it gives me this sure feeling that the philosopher's stone is so deliciously tempting and makes me -weirdly - want to have it for my own, but I have the knowledge that it could make me do bad things ... especialy the first 55 seconds, the choir's voices are more quiet like they're devils' voices that want only me to hear their tempting for me to search for the ruby stone... =] sorry for the rumble, just needed to let it out while listening ^-^

  • If there is someone who is willing to sacrifice millions of lives of people for their own gain, then I fear that there are worse monsters than those that hide in the dark and prey upon the unsuspecting.

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB 1st I would like to point out that Brotherhood is the true original as it follows the manga storyline. The only reason that the first Full Metal Alchemist didn't have a ln other name was because it came out first. This is because the author went to work on something else and told the artists to finish the story. That is why the beginnings are so similar. 2nd i would sacrifice those who were sentenced to death anyway. Then do some good with the stone as a sort of irony.

  • oh i just read In 2011, Russian researcher taught a course about using biological transmutations NO YOU CANT DO THAT PUTIN WANT TO TRANSMUTATE THE WHOLE COUNTRY AAAAAAAAAAH!

  • A stone of the philosophers...i love my latin class!

  • Oh my god... I love this one.

  • What with all the people talking about actually trying to attempt what father did? I don't care if i don't know them. To throw away so many lives for something as transit as power is just wrong. And is immortality really that enticing of a thing? Watching everyone die, and then have your memories be replaced by new memories, not even knowing how you were born or how you were as a person doesn't sound like a good thing to me. call me emo, but thats what i think

  • What with all the song that do have lyrics, they're a latin.

  • The Philosopher Stone is a PIECE OF SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kittycaity22 I don't understand your comment.

  • @moefapie To get a Philosopher's stone, you must sacrifice thousands, maybe millions of human lives especially innocent human lives which really sucks. All of those innocent people just for a stone that can amplify alchemic reactions to bypass equivalent exchange and it has a limit to its power. That proves it is a piece of shit. Would you be willing to transmute an entire country of people possibly including friends and family just to get the stone?

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB i might be willing...kinda depends on circumstances.

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB i would transmute an entire country to get that power, but not as in FMA... i'd try gettin the stone without needing to draw a circle, so i can use the lives of, say Boliva, or Perú.... u know, countries away from my kin, where i have no friends and familly... u know, ppl i have never met.

  • @TheOlvaid You sir, are an asshole.

  • @s3bbe1337 thanks, i do my best

  • @TheOlvaid That's pretty weak of you.

  • @NephosVG then i should give up on god-like powers? or maybe transmute my own familly and friends? all i was saying, was that, if i were to get a power like the philosopher's stone, i would not kill those i love for it, better to kill someone u never met, someone u'll never care about, than a friend sin't that right?

  • @TheOlvaid Yes, you should give up on your powers.

Playing with millions of human lives as if they are air-filled bags is wrong and unnatural.

The least you can do is look at them in the eye.

  • @NephosVG but if i have to look them in the eye, then it wouldn't be so easy to pretend they are air-filled bags... i would do as i said becaus i can only kill ppl as long as i've never met them, so i pretend they're just numbers. and u got a point. if this was for real i WOULD throw away god-like power, cuz in real life i can't kill a thing, but in a fiction i would totally do as i said.

  • @TheOlvaid i can't say i've never felt that way before. But those "numbers" also have family, friends that love them dearly. don't say "it's not my problem" because it will be your problem when you go straight to hell. People like you in fiction never win. What goes around comes around, karma, equivalent exchange.

  • @Blackbudproduction I agree with TheOlvaid. People are numbers that are going to be erased from the world anyway. The is overpopulated we could with good counsciess get rid of some.

As long as they are strangers I don't care either

  • @Chandersson25 It somewhat disgusts me to live on the same planet as people like you that would actually be as selfish and have that strong of a lust for power, that you would actually disturb the balance of life and murder loving, innocent people for your desire. Truly, truly vile and wretched.

  • @Blackbudproduction It is merely good buisness.

One's death is the others bread so to say.

  • @Chandersson25 It's not business. It's murder. One's death is fate's choice, no one else's. If one is slaughtered, that has been their beaten path and they were destined to die then and there.

Of course.. I'm using fate as God, I don't know if you're an atheist, christian, Jewish, but it's not really any of my business.

  • @Blackbudproduction Murder? Such a strong word. I prefer premature execution.

Officialy I'm christian but I can't say that I'm not much of a believer.

  • @Blackbudproduction To be able to achieve somethign in this world you have sacrifice something in return.

For example morality. Morality is such a useless thing

  • @Chandersson25 I have no desire to be anything but mortal. Having powers would be cool, but must I hurt an innocent person in the process? I would be much to guilty, and most likely go insane and commit suicide. And please don't sugar-coat murder. Murder is murder, sorry to tell you. But as people say, "sometimes you have to poke people with a pointy stick called truth."

  • @Blackbudproduction No one is truly innocent. All people have done something or will do something that is bad. And besides the world is overpopulated so why can't we get rid of the people who doesn't do anything productive anyway?

  • @Chandersson25 Good point, no one is truly innocent. Some people may not do anything productive for SOCIETY, but not one person on this overpopulated earth is insignificant. They were brought into the world for a reason. It depresses me how people like you have gone rotten it almost makes me wish I was born into another world, away from the cruelty, the hate.. Anyway, I don't have much of a desire to carry on this conversation any longer. I can see you will forever be an evil bastard. Goodbye.

  • @Blackbudproduction Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp a matrix around which we perceive the world. Extent your awareness outward, beyond the self of body and to embrace the self of group. The goals of the group are transcendent, and to embrace them, is to attain enlightenment.

  • @Blackbudproduction Not just and evil bastard, and evil BEARDED bastard.

  • @Chandersson25 Psst... While I don't know whether or not you two are being serious, I just wana say, overpopulation is sort of a lie. The population will continue to go up for X more years, but due to contraceptive devices and abortion, there will be less young people in the world. Therefore, when the older people die off, there will be less children to replace them. (The reason I put X instead of a number is I forgot how many years it was.)

    So, yeah. Just saying.

  • @Blackbudproduction I don't believe in Karma, and you read a limited amount of fiction. That being said, it's just statistics.

  • @BaronCarmine That's your problem if you don't believe in karma, but your probably gonna get fucked up the ass for it. just sayin'. and don't bring out that smart act, all i read and watch is fiction. real worldly things don't interest me, and i prefer to be in my own small fantasty world, where i'm away from all the evil and sadness on earth. so don't tell ME how much I read, and don't read.

  • @Blackbudproduction Shame you're going to have to face the reality eventually.

  • @BaronCarmine I've already acknowledged and comprehended reality, it's not that I reject it. I've just grown quite bored with it. But yes, after graduating from college it's gonna be a sad road from then on.

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB I live in south africa, I would transmute my whole country( except my family).

  • @moefapie Remember that the Stone's power is limited. Once it is used up, you will need to transmute more and more people to get another one and the cycle shall continue until there is no one left but you. Brotherhood is different than the original so I don't know if the Stone's power being limited applies here as well. I've only seen 39 episodes of Brotherhood.

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB Father didn't have the luxury of kin or friends. He felt no connection to humanity as he wasn't human. Even the blood he was made from meant nothing to him.

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB Yepp. Also depends where. Europe or America no. Africa yes.

  • @MrIAMNOTANOOB Well actually you can transmute a stone from just 1 or 2 persons. The more you transmute the stronger the stone gets.

  • I love this song !!!!!!!!!! I love Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood !!!!!!!!!!

  • The theme of Father, dark and sinister, just like him, and it makes him even more kickass after he absorbs god

  • father making his *episode 60 spoiler* philosopher's stone

  • There are two things that i think of when this song comes on: 1) The pain of loss that edward felt when he lost Alphonses body. 2) Nina and her father. When Nina had no idea what was going on and her father turn her into a chimera. So sad*

  • Episode 2..man..i coudln't stop crying.. i mean seriously . I cried more during that episode than when Justin Beiber died on CSI..cuz he didn't die for real ya know..?

  • @kittycaity22 u lost me there, since i know nothing about bieber, i don't know what are you kidding about. did he really died, or someone made a CSI episode where he was murdered?

  • From a previous comment, here is what came up on translate

How great a stone a stone of the philosophers stone red

you wish to sacrifice happiness caputo

You ought to have understanding I will back you should your misery in it many

saputo you have the misfortune to happiness

Where are you from the time the land of the pus inpedis PAST

that you are wise than they were cadeveris infinity.

  • @NARNAR1307 Next part

Died if the view the view the desire again

you are wise you will have the blood of the arms of the foot to protect the bush

Affected than the matter of the philosophers stone of a stone red

  • This is the song where the Amestris country wide philosopher stone was created. and everyones souls were being taken.

  • Yes! I've been looking for this one!

  • Do you think this is in Latin?

  • @TheMeLoLoVeR it is. the lyrics and translation should be somewhere in the comments :)

  • @rattengifje thank you :3

  • @TheMeLoLoVeR Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber lapis quantus

    sacrificum vis caputo felicitas

Debes sapio debes ibi multa miseria tua retro

    calamitatis habes saputo felicitas

Ubi es inpedis terra e tem pus anteactus

sapies eo quam erant cadeveris infinitatis.

(repeat line 2 & 3 then on to next)

Specta mortuus specta si denuo desiderium

sapies habebis tueri sanguinem brachi pedis rubus,

Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber affecto quam res…?

  • @TheMeLoLoVeR It is in latin. Lapis Philosophorum is Latin for Philosopher's stone.

  • Monatomic Gold, Shemana (Babylonians) MFKZT (Egyptians) and Manna (Israelites) is the Philosopher's Stone! It even has the power to bend space and time!

  • @OTTOROCKETTPOWER Of course it can bend spacetime. All matter can. This is the concept understood as gravity. The more matter present, the stronger the bend in spacetime.

Monatomic gold isn't anything special. It's merely gold that has been separated from its constituent compounds, thus eliminating its octet valency, and raising its potential energy. This can be seen in most any monatomic element aside from the noble gasses, which already have octet/duet valency.

  • Monatomic gold doesn't exist in nature for that very reason. It will bond to other elements to attain a lower potential energy, and become more stable. Monatomic gold only exists in closed environments, after being synthesized in a lab (Through methods such as electrolysis), separate from elements it can bond to. Once exposed to these elements, it soon reacts and forms more stable compounds.

  • @KeberosSephiroph What does any of that have to do with the song?!

  • @TheldinMarks Lapis philosophorm=The Philosopher's stone. Gold is supposedly one of the ingredients. So, logic says that monatomic gold might be the right kind/form of gold.

  • @Shadowyconman Creating monatomic elements requires you to break the bonds between atoms. This requires a minimum energy input known as "bond energy". Usually, this is done by heating the given substance to a liquid state and running an electrical current through it in a process known as electrolysis. And though this does create monatomic elements, they only last for a fraction of a second before rebonding to something else.

  • @Shadowyconman For example, the electrolysis of hydrogen from water. Applying an electrical current to water breaks the bonds in H2O releasing two free H atoms & one O atom per water molecule. However, these are unstable, and quickly rebind to one another to lower their potential energy. 2 H2O-->H+H+H+H+O+O-->2 H2+O2. As you can see, in this reaction, the free hydrogen and oxygen quickly goes from a monatomic to a diatomic state. This occurs in most elements, except noble gasses.

  • @Shadowyconman And even if these monatomic elements lasted for more than a fraction of a second, medieval alchemists didn't exactly know much about electrochemistry, which was a later innovation.

  • while this theme whas playing...

  • shit man i whas talking about my grandpa dying on the same day i almost died

    TODAY

  • @sparten117dylan I can understand you completely.

  • 3 people are mad that they can't do alchemy.

  • Some lines should not be crossed, for beyond those lines, things are Gods. Not the forgiving and benevolent gods of our world, but chaotic and bestial, balanced by orderly and cruel, forever tormenting you for the simple fact that you have crossed a forbidden barrier.

Some things should not be tampered with...because some things are Gods.

  • @sparten117dylan Dude......I feel you....Some lines are never meant to be crossed...

  • One of the reasons why this is the best anime

  • @sparten117dylan your girl friend sounds like an ugly whore....just saying.....

  • @SuperAwsomeo123 I can't find the comment. What did his girlfriend say?

  • "take my leg, take my arm, I dont care, take my heart if you have to!! he's my brother...my little brother, he's all I have left, so give him back!!!"

  • You know there are some lines you just shouldn't cross.

    -Edward-

followed by a punch in the stomach and being hit behind the head, and pull a facer on the ice

  • Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber lapis quantus

    sacrificum vis caputo felicitas

Debes sapio debes ibi multa miseria tua retro

    calamitatis habes saputo felicitas

Ubi es inpedis terra e tem pus anteactus

sapies eo quam erant cadeveris infinitatis.

(repeat line 2 & 3 then on to next)

Specta mortuus specta si denuo desiderium

sapies habebis tueri sanguinem brachi pedis rubus,

Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber affecto quam res…?

  • "Give him back... He's my brother... Just give him back! He's my little brother, he's all I have left!!!" -Edward-

  • This is one of most memorable tracks from the whole series, I'd consider it like the "Bratja" of Brotherhood. I really miss that song and thought it was the best song from either shows, but I do love the Brotherhood OSTs more overall. <3

  • The pencil of the philosopher, Some Spanish helped here.

  • @knacksahut The song is in Latin...Lapis=stone, so the title directly translates to "Stone of Philosophers"

  • this is one of the only songs that can forgive them leaving out Fate from the original run of the show.

  • "GIVE HIM BACK.....HE'S MY LITTLE BROTHER.....HE'S ALL I HAVE LEFT"

and the beginning of the Brothers

  • @TheDoglover23456

that makes me cry every time :'D

  • There it is, finally.

  • Wheres the download link for this song...also for the song where mustang goes all man hunter and tries to kill envy.

  • R.I.P-Greed, the 2nd best charachter

  • I think this song symbolizes Hohenheim´s thoughts on the Philosopher Stone.

  • Anyone mind translating the lyrics?

I'd love to actually know what they're singing about. :3

  • @rederci939 The lyrics are in a post for the chant version of this song. Look in the comments. :)

  • Why would Father dislike this? This is when he swallows God...

I think Ed, Al, and Hohenheim disliked it...

  • The scene when Father gets the power of God.

  • @QRuckify no he doesnt get the power of God

he combines with God and because he was more powerful in that moment God went into Father

but God felt like being a dick and took away most of his power

  • And they all said Latin would never be of use to me. >:3

    Amazing song!

  • @narushipfan1 Latin. The song title means "The stone of Philosphers"- which can also be translated as "The Philosopher's Stone"

  • to think if a singer Akiko Shikata joins in the orchestra... ;p

  • philosopher's stone (Latin: lapis philosophorum)

  • Can anyone help me out and tell me what is the name of the song that plays near the end of episode 62?

  • @xxJorgexxOconxx That, my dear friend, was called, simply, Main Theme.

  • @SebastiansCreed Well I feel dumb now, haha, thank you very much kind sir!

  • @xxJorgexxOconxx lol no, it's ok. It's dumb for it to be named Main Theme when it's hardly ever used in the series ;)

  • @SebastiansCreed

true, but it does emcompass everything that the series is about. so why not play it in the most tragic and climactic moments? if they used it any more, it would become stale and overused like one winged angel.

  • @DoinkTonberry wasn't that song only used just once in the game? or are you referring to outside the main game and it's spin offs :P

  • @Somorio

well owa, did become stale when it had a kh, kh2, and advent children remix. but, in fma they saved the main theme for the very best defining moments. and imo, the fact that they did made the moments that much more memorable.

  • Father, King Bradley and Selim Bradley disliked this

  • @enenao HAHA!

  • This is the music that played when I pwned everyone in my Math Class!

  • This music is perfect for listening to while reading about the French Revolution.

  • Akira Senju? SENJU?! As in, the Senju clan of Konoha?

No wonder this music's so awesome.

  • Rose: [collapses to the floor] But he promised me... he said if I prayed, it would happen... A miracle... That hope was all I had left! What am I supposed to believe in now?! Tell me what to do... please...

  • what is the theme of the ninjas from Xing

  • @TheMikon I think its called "far east suite"

  • AL! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

    -al dies-

Edward: WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS..>THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!! ARGHH!!!

    -Ed goes unconscious-

  • glorious

  • walking to your death...seeing your destroyed home town...making judgement

  • I loved it from the first time I heard it, that was the first chapter of FMA: Brotherhood that I had seen, which was the third one, "City of Heresy". It plays when Rose is on the stairs of the church, crying, and Ed says "You have two good legs, so use them. Stand up and walk." That was just epic and awesome and a whole lot of things more.

  • Japko

  • Beautiful & Chilling. It made me tear up.

The lyrics are just as fitting to such a breath-taking melody.

  • There are no words to describe how awesome, epic, and beautiful this song truly is.

  • @bionicdragon5 Hear, hear!

  • @TheNoNoNo1 :D

  • I love all of these pieces.

  • I remember in the first episode when this started playing Ed ran up and punched Isaac in the stomach and smashed his head then later on while this was still playing king Bradley killed Isaac! I personally think this should be in the top 5 best anime songs

  • Father disliked this

  • @asdfghjkl10531 Funny you say that, since it was playing when he activated that giant transmutation circle and absorbed the Truth lol!

  • @asdfghjkl10531 father+pride

  • @shadowincvides DAMNIT. After all these years 1 more person disliked it.

  • @asdfghjkl10531 who can dislike this!?

  • @asdfghjkl10531 Why? This song is essentially about philosopher's stones. He lives off those.

    If anything, Ed disliked this.

  • @MajorMajora52113 It's cliche to say that the homunculi dislike the greatest songs on the soundtrack. Because there are so few dislikes usually and it's easy to name a few and make a simple/direct comment.

  • @asdfghjkl10531 this played during his reign over central. so i dont think he would dislike his own song

  • This song make my dry so much and not just cry but the a strong cry a sad cry with many tear all. went my mom saw my he was worry and was thinking that someone that i knew had died.

  • TIme & Alchemy History Upon Time:

The base of alchemy is upon us and its a history of knowledge and sacrifice.

Ever sense then people try'ed it many time but... failed & lost their bodys & their souls. and the soul goes to a place called.... The Gate" to bring back the soul to a origanal body or "Model" They must sacrifice one of their limbs or soul to the gate to bring back the others soul. to bring back the whole body it takes

    a philosapher stone... and other

    Story by - FMA FUNanime.

  • I don't know where this played for the first time, but when I heard this song play during the ritual of Father opening the gate in order to absorb God, that was the most chillingly epic scene I've seen. So much so that I'm thinking of in-cooperating that very scene into a RP story.

  • @Tunkson This song is right on episode 1 of brotherhood ^^ ice alchimist Isac vs Central, the song ended in a very quick fight between King Bradley (wrath) vs Isac witch Bradley prevaled victorious ^^ (My fav. Character hehe)

  • Akira Senju is just the reincarnation of Mozart godammm........so master...

  • when I first heard this song in the first episode of FMA brotherhood, it literally gave me chills. I kept re-listening and it was stuck for one week! Now I can listen to it all day in YouTube. Agh, life is fair.

  • I love when this first played, soo chilling and awsome. x3

  • You have no idea how much I've been looking for this!

  • fma brotherhood is the best anime ever. i wish they would make more anime like it, but that is impossible, because it is too original

  • @danielarmstrong98 I know right!

These days the best of the ideas are over used or seem similar to others. FMA is complicated, clever and practically never been used before. There is so much too it and its memorable as well.

I tried creating an idea for a novel as good as it. I'm beginning to doubt if its possible.

  • one thing, and one thing only

if you don't like it then DON'T WATCH IT!

  • I ilike this soundtrack so much ♥

It makes my head free and so <33333

    Full Metal Alchemist 4-ever !!! :D

  • wow those lyrics are quite powerful, they need to be kept as the top comments.

  • You know where I've herd this before? "Handel - Sarabande Duel" Type that into to youtube, and tell me you don't hear a resemblance.

  • @KittyEvangeline The beats are similar, but the tunes are quite distinct.

  • I do not care what the price! I am buying each one of these soundtracks! This excellence should be marveled!

  • @Shalasasha cool

  • I cry in when it song plays for last time in the anime.

  • Omg this OST is so fucking EPIC!!

  • @Niyaru I would honestly like to see that... XD
