Come on! He was two seconds faster than Tiago in several qualifying runs including albert park and china. Says it all. If he just maintains his form through the year.. we would see him get picked up by another team maybe force india. or let TATA get jaguar back and then see the fun :)
@TheBusiness55 well firstly for fyi most drivers start off in f1 by bringing in sponsorship including michael schumacher and secondly to prove thats hes no ordinary driver, Sir Frank Williams 'paid' for him to be a test driver for 2 seasons and offered to extend it but Narain didn't take the offer.
You either have it thru family, friends, can be nationally aligned to a company coz you're that nationality (Kingfisher, Merc Benz etc), you have an agent get it on your behalf, or you go out and try to acquire the 500,000 pounds it costs to run British F3 by yourself.
Narrain is a good driver, but there are better drivers who have not gone as far as he has due to the fact he has had corporate backing.
@TheBusiness55 Not starting in Karts reflects his ability., I am not disputing that he had corporate backing. But he thoroughly deserved to be in F1. He has won in every championship except f1 and excluding Lemans series (where he raced a 3 year old Audi) and formula nippon(where he was at a sever disadvantage). That itself shows his ability and everyone who has known him and have been involved with him tell that he can 'win' in f1, including Emerson Fittipaldi, Tiago Monteiro. Continued ...
@TheBusiness55 contd... Trevor Carlin has even compared him to jenson button in terms of his speed and technical knowledge. Sir Frank Williams regarded him very highly. So while there were many drivers who deserved to be in F1 not many deserved it more than him. Its people like Kazuki Nakajima who didnt to be in F1.
Im not Indian myself, but it was brilliant when NK was in F1 as it created much needed diversity in F1. I think he is a fourth driver for an F1 team, it could very wll be Williams, although im not sure if he is still there. In my view, he was the best out of the four "backmarker" drivers (Jordan and Minardi). I hope another Indian drivers gets a seat at Force India
really?...i had heard that he might get a chance in a spare car outta the gibbs camp,...i will do some more reserch on it & get bac to it,..we will find out pretty soon anyway,
it makes me cry whenever i see videos of karthikeyan in jordan ... who would have thought that an indian will drive an f1 car for full season so early ... narain instilled the feeling that there is nothing that is there that can't be acheived for indians .u have given a path for others to follow .u r an inspiration for india.
we know that u deserved a drive for second season in f1 ... but due to politics it didn't happened.we all know u r true hero.
wonderful!! makes me proud! i just wished trevor carlin was still at jordan at the end of 05.. narain would have stuck around for longer and performed better.. it was all because of colin kolles.. tha mofo!
brilliant job absolutely brilliant....that was amazing.......luved that lap in the wet ..........5 seconds faster than the 2 minardis was truly world class
He deserves this is amazing!

@come1619 It's a shame Vijay Mallya doesn't believe in Narain or Karun's talent. Looking for go-karters in Delhi instead.
