@Brockhad Destructo Disk would have killed Nappa if Vegeta didn't tell him to move out of the way. It would have killed (or at least seriously injured and weakened) frieza if it was a direct hit. It didn't hurt Cell because the power level difference between Krillin and Cell was so HUGE at that point that it was ineffective against his body.

Here in this vid we see how everyone of the saiyans were pretty much getting owned. They have all the reason in the world to go super saiyan as soon as the andriods showed up in the movie, but waited till after multiple battles, in fact at the VERY FREAKING FINAL BATTLE to do so. What good and SANE reason do they have to "conserve energy" at the risk of death?

@Raldavar They can't read Android power levels, except for Cell. They might not have needed to transform for all they knew, once the sparring was up, they knew they had to transform. Plus. Saiyans love a good fight, npt very often do they want to end things as quickly as possible.

It didn't occur to them the first two times they had their asses handed to them that it would be a good idea to go super saiyan? I mean they didn't even transformed at the start of the third fight. They waited for the androids to beat the shit out of them to do it. It just makes no sense other than to make the movie over 30 mins long.

@Raldavar Well, you could go to what Goku and Gohan did, with staying SSJ til they were comfortable with it, in order to save energy on transformations. Trunks made the mistake of going all out straight away against Cell and paid for it. Plus, as I said earlier, Saiyans love a good fight, why would they want to skip over parts, transform and get the job done quickly? And yeah, ofcourse they want to make it so the movie can last, if they transformed straight away, it'd be pretty shite.

@jordy885 None of the episodes are Cannon, some may seem it, but you can't really fit them in anywhere. It fits best before Cell, but it also doesn't fit. Trunks has his sword back and they said that this is after the other Androids were destroyed.

The movies are a different story...But in any event the truth is you can't directly translate a book into a film, and a manga into an anime without running into some issues. They will always be some cuts/additions made to keep the storyline flowing , and viewers interested. In definition non-canon means its not official, and made by the original creator.
