Maybe its because Im from the Uk and we never got to get to know Rhona over here, but I never warmed to her, and it really gets on my nerves that she seemed to have just swanned in and taken lead on everything... Max or Terri should have taken lead on this, seeing as its one of their major hits, and Rhona wasn't even in the band at the time. At least now Dawn's back, Rhona's left the building!
It is official, the ladies of En Vogue have signed on to RUFFTOWN Record and starting recording with their original producers. Go to: rufftown.com This is possibly a new, independent label.
What I find interesting is the change of lyrics. The original says, ..."I had to have HIM morning, noon, and night." This version says, "...I had to have IT morning, noon, and night."
By the way, I used to be acquanited with Rhona in the mid-90s. She is a sweetheart and lots of fun! I think she's got a Tina Turner-esque quality about her in this video. Go on Rhona!
I liked Rhona as a member of the group. She seemed to fit well in to the dynamics of the group. I am still waiting on their new album. Whether Dawn Robinson is still in the group after their 20th Anniversary tour or not, they can survive as a trio or with the addition of Rhona.
TO my lovely RHONA BENNETT - You are so talented and I am so very proud of your Hard word..YOu look great and your voice makes my hair stand up..We like that..:)
I'm sorry,Rhona isn't fit to sing this song,it sounds ucky to me.I rather have had Terry sing it,it would've sounded better than how Rhona was singing,oh my.
Actually Cindy, not Terri, sang the part that Rhona sang. Of course Rhona is not Cindy, but she did the song justice. I think she held back. She should have projected more but overall it was a great performance.
@KakkoiGuy1 You didn't get what I said.I know Cindy sung it.Cindy was on maternity leave during this time and Rhona sung this song instead. Terry should've did Cindy's part, because she would've given it more power, as to where Rhona, watered it down and made it not as good as Cindy's version.
@LiyahsLegacyForever Got'cha. I see what you're saying now. I agree with you wholeheartedly on that. Terry just has that spunk about her anyway. So you're right. She would have gave it that extra umph.
I said this months ago, but I have to say it again. Rhona is smooth as hell on this! Love her! I like Cindy singing the lead for this song, but it's nice to hear someone else on it. I wish Rhona could've performed the whole song!
I hate when people disrespect Rhona (or the En Vogue that featured her.) It wasn't as if they fired Dawn for the sake of replacing her with Rhona. There was an open slot available, and she competantly filled it. I will say this, though...I think MAXINE should have done the lead vocals for this song in Cindy's absense. I always thought that the two of them sounded vaguely simiilar.
I agree Cindy and Maxine do sound a like I always thought that Dawn did the opening to Hold on and Maxine sang lead. I never knew that it was Terry and Cindy.
what the hell happen????? This is definately not the En Vogue that I remember and no way shape or fashion near as good as the original??? What HAPPEN?????
Say what you want about Rhona but she did a great job while in EnVogue and she kept the gruop as a whole touring while other members did their own thing and or had kids. I'm happy the original lineup is back to celebrate 20 years in the biz but let's not forget Rhona was apart of it too even if not from the beginning.
I totally agree! Without Rhona, EV would not have been able to keep it going. Granted, they could of found another replacement, but I don't think they would've found someone as great as Rhona to fit EV. Rhona's the bomb! I hope she has a successful solo career. I'll definitely buy her album!
Rhona should quit waiting for envogue to come out and just go and pursue a solo singing career...and she was the great in the stage play Men cry in the dark...go solo Rhona
I think its cool how they always let the new members lead the songs when they first joined the group...cause if it had been a group full of bitchy divas the new girls would have been just in the background..so big ups to them...but anyway they all look great even after 20 years...
She's singing it too smooth, there is no raspiness in there like cindy adds to it......though I don't think that anyone can ever replace the original singers........she does sound great.
because of her smooth tone,Dawn is a big Soprono, so is terry and cindy. so max is the only alto, and rhona is a mezzo with a natural vibrato so with rhona there they take ther already amazing sound and make it even more soulful. thats why i didn't like Amanda i felt she didn't do the group just, and you just had 3 sopranos and it got annoying
Rhona is no longer with the group. I love the original 4 with Dawn, but where does this leave Rhona. Although En Vogue is not the only girl group to dispatched a replacement. EXPOSE did it with Jill Moneymaker, letting her go when original member Gioia Bruno returned, and the most famous of all.....is the Supremes...with the replacement of Florence Ballard with Cindy Birdsong.
Good luck to Rhona in her future endeavers, and En Vogue for getting back together!!!
Rhona did Cindy's leads, Maxine's leads, Dawn's leads, and Amanda's leads. She is truly a powerhouse. I think she is the only member of En Vogue to cover the leads of four members. Shows that she has amazaing range and voice control.
I still love listening to Sad But True live with her doing Cindy's leads.
I have to say as a big En vogue fan, i feel they are still the best female group around. I will admite that i like Rhona with the group better than Dawn. She may not beable to hit thoe really high notes that Dawn could, but her voice just blends in. She's an alto and with Maxine there the group sounds my sultry, and soulfull.
The only reason I can see kahliasimone, is because they needed a replacement because dawn was gone, I wouldn't say that she was better than Dawn and nothing is better than the originals.
i've always enjoyed Rhona and that fact that she can sing, she looks good and can harmonize made her the perfect choice to step in for Cindy. i think we all get use to the original line up and when things change nothing compares. But you can't say Rhona isn't reppin' when she was in the group.

Rhona has that En Vogue quality in spades. Maxine is the one who had the "en vogue" deficiency in this performance with her pot belly and and dishiveled dreds.
I know!!! I have been a Rhona fan since the Mickey Mouse Club. I wonder if anyone has that performance she did of "Whatta Man"? How ironic that she would end up in the group that sang the song!!!
Rhona looks familiar... I think she was on "The Jamie Foxx Show".

Yea Rhonna sang it smoother than Cindy because Rhonda is a alto while Cindy sang it more sassy in her soprano range.
