i have this on my ass. it popped. pus and blood came out a little hole above my ass hole. i don't have a big hole like that... do i still need surgery if it popped? or do i let it heal by it's self? only people who had it please answer. no dumb answers cause i don't know what to do... my doctor's a creep and i don't want to show him my ass..
@crazybonez5 my son has this. his was found dec 2008 since that time he has had 8-9 surgeries and the dumb thing will not heal fully. i would see a d plastic surgeon or a rectal/colon surgeon, they seem to be the most help. if you see a a plastic surgeon he might be able to close or start the healing process with a chemical burn to the tissue. you don't feel a thing and no surgery
I had this done about 6 months ago. Its not that BAD! You will be glad that you had the surgery because it will be a relief. I got 5 stitches and they were taken out 2 weeks later. I still go back for annual check ups but everything is all healed! Dont be scared because yet again...Its not that bad!
i had surgery jan 10 im ok now they close with sttiches i dont have any pains but i am scared that it would repeat doctor told me im health and has less chance to repeat but im still worried good luck to people who has this i feel you i was so depressed during this
@fragoso0909 well i didnt sit yet well i dont have pains my sttiches look ok doctor told me i can take shower after 2 day but i take after 6 day i didnt want to get wet there and i dry it i used 4 day bandage its finish now so u let the air in no need to put bandage is no i didnt sit and dont try after surgery just sleep side ways after 1 more week i think i can start run and get back to normal life again good luck to people who has this its terrible thing got to be extra clean
Hi, sorry for the late answer. I paid nothing for I went to government hospital but the waiting times are long. Today i have been to see dermatologist. She suggested extraction. She said the three previous surgeries were only incisions
yeah, i have the same thing. It's gotten to the point where i cant go to school because im so afraid it will pop or something. doctor said it needs surgery to be taken out, the only thing im worried about is the cost. if you could get back to me about the cost of the surgery its self i would be very thankful.
@AldrinTadz Yeah.. Me too.. Before, I had severe acne both in my face and in my chest.. Ive been to countless dermatologist treatments and I still found it very frustrating because none of it worked.. Until my friend recommended me this acne solution site StopAcneNow.co.cc and the program did an amazing job showing me the right way to completely remove the cystic acne around me.. And in less than a month, it did worked!
I'm a little freaked out please help. Please help I dont know if I have this. Okay the anal area is fine but above on the skin where the tailbone is I have bleeding and a weird smell, theres no yellow or any sort of pus or bump or anything like that just a swelling feel and a little pain near my Tail bone area if I sit on it.
Hey guys! I had my cyst taken out a week ago today, and the only thing I'm experiencing is a little tenderness around the area. I can sit with a little discomfort, and I haven't tried to lay down yet. Mine was apparently two inches deep, but I'm experiencing the same post surgery symptoms (bleeding, draining, etc.). But, I was not told to pack it everyday, I only cover it with the gauze pads. I appreciate all the comments from everyone, they really helped!
3 days? man you got lucky... i had a pilinodal cyst at my tailbone cut from crack to anus... literally when the guy removed the packing, it must of been 9ft minimum (i remember 3 full arm stretches.. not counting whatever i didnt feel) and they kicked me out of the hospital 20mins after the surgery

Hi everyone, I made a visit to the dermatologist in september, she gave Menosil capsules, i believe it's an anti biotic for skin problem. I have to take these capsules once daily for three months, and then I will have to see the dermatologists again in January. I have the impression that this medicine is working although the pharmacist said that I should not expect improvement till after the end of treatment i.e. 3 months.
i had surgery , but the wound is not healing , what can i do any ideas or suggestions some really good advice would really help , i smoke cigaretts and weed can that be the problem ???
@starladear002 diabetic ??? no i dont think so , why diabetic is a problem , its amazing why the wound is taking forever to heal what else can i do ???
@bombness420 If you are a diabetic, wounds, cuts, scrapes sometimes take a long time to heal. So something like a surgical scar evern longer. But, the pilonidal cyst surgery itself takes a long time to heal because the wound is left open and it closes from the bottom up. It can take months to heal. But I would still suggest you see your doctor for your own peace of mind. Good luck!
the surgery itself did not fix it so far. It keeps coming every now and then. It usually blast in 1 or two days. So far I had 3 surgeries on it. My surgeon advised me to see a dermatologist, he also said there is a anti-biotic for stomach problems, that I might try, although the cyst has nothing to do with stomach issue, but the medicine may help. My appointment with the dermatologist is due by the end of September 2011.
I experienced discomfort the first time it swelled. Afterwards the swelling went away and has only come up once in 3 years. Should I get the surgory even though it doesn't swell/create discomfort? I heard the swiss institute at Zurrich found out a way to remove it without making a massive hole. They basically tunnel it out underneat the skin minimizing tissue extraction. Healing is 1 week for full recovery opposed to 2 months and the massive Scar!"!!!!
I have to have this surgery soon. Sucks because I just had foot surgery a month ago and I'm still on crutches. Right now I'm sleeping in a really awkward position because my foot and butt hurt. :(
so yea, ive had 2 surgeries and probably going to have 3. it really doesnt hurt, its just a pain in the ass (literally) and blood drains from it so you have to be careful in public. hahaha this thing sucks donk
I didn't know I had one of these until it burst yesterday. I've seen the doc and he seems optimistic that all I'll need is some antibiotics and I'll be fine. I didn't hurt or anything, but it definitely looks like the pictures I've seen of these things.
It really is not that painful, just uncomforable... My pilonidal cyst was the size of an orange... it only feels a little tender right now (Had it done a week ago tomorrow) but not sore, I can walk, sit, stand go up and down stairs shower, and my insistion is HUGE ahah get it fixed asap so the healing time is faster the longer you wait the bigger the operation, and longer time to heal.. don't keep this gunk in your body it isn't meant to be there.. and guys rmemeber wash ur crack DAILY!!
I just had the surgery 15 days ago and the pain isn't that much, plus they give you pain killers so it's all good, it takes some time to sit down without it feeling painfull, but now I am starting to feel better. Guys, just have the surgery, your's is probably lesser than mine anyway. I had three cysts so the took out a chunk of meat like 5 inchs long. So trust me it isn't that bad.
ya it's a really tough choice. I got my insurance back, and went in for my first check yesterday. Until then I hadn't had the diagnosis. So I have a pilonidal cyst, 3 holes to be exact. Doctor suggest surgey, sounds like its going to painful, and he said 2 weeks bed rest, and months to completely heal. I dont know if I want the surgery, or live with it. It's very painful to live with, especially doing sit ups or sitting in certain chairs. What do you guys think?
I first got my cyst in early october this year and within 1 week I got It drained... Which was very painful. Then 2 months later dec 21st I had surgery and the worst part was the IV. The surgery took 1 hour, and I recovered for 45 minutes then I walked out of the hospital, all day I've walked around, sat and haven't felt much pain. Only a slite pressure
I just had a pilonidal cyst removed on Oct. 27th and I am still down and out. I was unfortunately one of the rare cases of a female getting one of these dreadful things. I do NOT wish this upon anyone in the whole world. Mine also had what I'm hoping I don't misquote was called a "sinus cavity". All I remember about what that meant was a "deeper dig". OUCH! I feel like I have been shot in my bum, I feel for all of you out there who have had one of these damn things! Best Wishes all!

I had a pilonidal cyst two years ago that I got after breaking my tailbone. The surgery I had involved the surgeon cutting skin off my back, draining and removing the cyst, then making a skin flap to cover the area where the cyst was. Now I am left with a disgusting collection of scars in a sort of rectangular shape where the cyst was, and my skin seems to be starting to swell, like I might be developing the cyst again.

I recently had my pilonidal cyst removal and my wound is still open. I never heard of removing skin to cover the area. My dad told me the doc didn't stitch it close or anything because if another infection were to occur then they would have to go and cut me open again.
my surgery has been done and the root has been removed. I hope it never comes back. My wound is almost healed up. Thanks to Allah almighty. It was painful but the removal of the root was necessary to decrease the chances of recurrence.
I just got my drain out before getting drain out it looked like a little baby butt lol but anyway I have to return for my deep surgery ...all this time i thought it was a pimple
I just got mine removed today after having it for a year, waited 9 months for operation, hopefully i recover soon, was very painful for the first 3 months then it sort of disappeared thankfully
i have 3 holes in my back and my gf tried to drain it and some clear stuff came out the highest hole i dont want to go 4 the surgery cus it looks really painfull is there anyway to make it go a way
no you need surgery and its not that bad i just had it last friday and im sitting on a pillow now it really is worth the operation, cause i waited two years and got sick of the pain so i got my cyst off
you should ask your doctor for it, in my opinion, you should take it off by surgery, because it keeps coming on and on. surgery will remove the root of the cyst. I will have my surgery soon, probably by march. surgeon said i will go out of hospital same day. I hope everything will be fine for everyone !
@TheDuster88 if it works it s worth it, i had my surgery on the 15 of june, 2 days ago I had it again, I need to see my surgeon again. wish you quick recovery and better luck bro !
hey! i am not sure if i have or have not a cyst!...there is a small bump in my natal cleft! does not drain or anything...and kinda feels hard like a bone!
how long does it take for it too grow big and painful? how hard does it feel when you touch it? i was wondering if it is an osteophyte or a cyst!
@TheDuster88 I had the surgery and was out of hospital same day and felt little to no discomfort. since the surgery I have felt better then ever before and i have absolutely no discomfort or pain. There are two different surgical procedures. one is more effective then the other but has a longer healing time. But you also have to make sure you let it heal safely.
@FouadIE I had my pilonidal cyst removed this past wednesday and I have a flight on monday which takes 5 hours with a connection in venezuela. Would you recommend me going or canceling it?
@TheDuster88 I had the surgery and was out of hospital same day. That was about 3 years ago and to this day I haven't had a single issue with it even the day after the procedure when the pain meds wore off I didn't feel anything other then the bandage and a SLIGHT tenderness. Make sure to get the home care nurse though if you can. It really helps it heal properly!!! They just come in once a day for an hour, remove the packing, clean it if there's any infection, re-stuff it, and re-bandage it.
After 2 years I'm finally being referred to a surgeon after spending half that time on antibiotics. My first ever operation (hopefully!), not looking forward to it at all, but looking forward to the result!
i have one for a while and have no pain whatsoever. I've been to 3 docs and all say cutt the fucker out but when i ask them about straffing it or draining they have no clue what im talking about. Also the swelling went away about 90% and keeps going down.
its better to get it off now while you are young cause if you get older fucker is gonna hurt like crazy i just had mine removed and its not bad at all
Couple of good pics there FouadIE, can i ask in the second pic, how deep was the hole? And also, how comes you didnt shave the area, did the hairs not go into the hole?
Looks like it healed really well, I had mine stitched three weeks ago, 4/5 healed, but the top 1/5 opened so its an open wound now, about 2cm deep.
ive had mine for 5 years been to 3 different doctors 2 of which prescribed antibiotics which clearly done nothing. need the surgery now and its got very deep
i'm suprised you've endured it for a year, those lil fruckers hurt! Surgery cost will depend on how deep and what they do. Are you sure yours is a pilonidal cyst? Cuz they normally get bigger and make it damn near impossible to do anything. as it does so.
haha mine doesn't hurt, but its about the same size*knock on wood* and I'm hoping to get it removed either spring break next year, christmas break this year, or next summer(2011) or when the healthcare thing gets passed if I get free healthcare..(I doubt it will be free, but I can dream) I don't have a job, and I can only get into school for like 1-2 classes so far :P oh well. things will turn around! KEEP LOOKING FORWARD! YAY
AHHGHRHG I have one now, and it hurts like a mofo! I'm going to be getting the surgury in a week. It flared up this weekend, but i'm so relieved it drained by itself today, and I feel a little better. I can't wait to get this thing off my ass! ha well your cut looks like it's healing well.
have you had any problems with it comming back? I've read that it can come back after being removed. I've got mine. had it for a few years. it swelled up realy bad one time and I had to put ice packs on it all the time. I bent over and it popped while it was numb. I thought it was my lower back popping. but it was the cyst, it sealed up. built up, then I popped it and got a core with a bunch of hair out. its building up again and I might get surgery this summer when I have insurance.
Lie's! It wont be gone forever! The fact that people think so make me want to smack em! Ive had this and many others and yet it keeps coming back on the same area! Polynital Cleft or whatever is what I had done...Suicide is floating above my head like a damn storm cloud.
Best thing you can do,find a doctor who knows what they are doing, then hope and pray it doesnt return.
hahah well I can sit and I can walk, I'm affraid to go weight lift though, cuz it gets in the way of crunches/situps, and I don't want it to get irritated and swell up. it's chaotic!!! but hopefully something will be done about insurance soon :)
there is really no problem i had my cyst for about two years and just got the surgery last friday i feel its totaly worth it cause i had the same problems as you the damn thing would pop and puss would go everywhere while i was working
i have 3 holes in my back and my gf pushed on the lump i had and blood and yellow stuff came out of 1 of the holes ithe doctor want to cut ot the cyst and the 3 holes above my asshole iam really scared of how bad it will hurt
lol, i should put mine up to, i have a scar thats 5 inches long...though i think my surgeons a quack, i'm lookin for another one bc this... does not wanna heal. surgery back in march, and im still havin probs *sighs*
one of these little mufuggers will put any man down for at least 2 weeks. i have the most sympathy for anyone with this on their ass. women have compared it to child birth so....
i got it on my ass and ive been living wit it for a year till yesterday that i got the surgery. and i aint in any real pain at all. and when i woke up from the surgery he doctor told me it was the size of an orange.that was kind of a shocker considering it didnt look that big on the outside. and now its stitched up and i gotta wait 2 weeks to get the stitches out.
typically, antibiotics wont work for this kind of cyst. it will certainly help with the infection if one exists, but the cyst comes from an infected hair and antibiotics wont get rid of the hair
I just discovered I have the same problem, it was a bump that I thought was acne and had it for months, but yesterday it busted and now there is some kind of flesh or tissue about the size of an eraser sticking out of the hole. I guess I need to get it removed, although the surgery videos look extremely painful and dangerous
I think because the procedure was simple. To drain the cyst, as I am still waiting for another procedure to remove the cyst root or something like that. but for time being I need to have a procto-scopy to check of possible channels between cyst and anus.
yep--i too had a staph infected polynital cyst. Out for 4 months, no work, no money, all pain. At home nurse had to see me twice daily for dressing change, for 4 months. had it Oct. 04'---all good now. Surgeon said it was the second largest he'd done.Glad I had surgery, feel sorry for anyone looking at my xtra long ass crack
my husband had one of these but it was'nt till it discharged itself a third time we took it to a doctor who immdiatly put him on antibiotics and refered him for surgrey, during the wait for the op this thing tracked from 2cm above the anus to 10cm above the butt cleft it would leak foul smelling greenish brown from the holes it had previously 'broken through'he ended up having extensive surgrey and the surgeon told us it was one of the worst he'd seen. he is fine now a year later.
I just went through having one of these. It started draining on its own but the surgeon still lanced it. I'll be going through removal surgery this summer to get rid of the dang thing because I don't want it coming back on me....
I found out yesterday that the surgery I had was to drain the cyst, I still have another surgery coming to remove the root that caused that. I went to hospital yesterday because I felt that the cyst is growing back. and me who thought that all my pains are history now. but there's still to come. :-(
ah are you getting the "pit picking" procedure done? Thats what I got and it was only a little bit painful to lay on my back for like 3 days. good luck!
i have this on my ass. it popped. pus and blood came out a little hole above my ass hole. i don't have a big hole like that... do i still need surgery if it popped? or do i let it heal by it's self? only people who had it please answer. no dumb answers cause i don't know what to do... my doctor's a creep and i don't want to show him my ass..

It was painful but the removal of the root was necessary to decrease the chances of recurrence.

do they use Anesthesia before surgically removing it?

i have 3 holes in my back and my gf tried to drain it and some clear stuff came out the highest hole i dont want to go 4 the surgery cus it looks really painfull is there anyway to make it go a way
TheDuster88 2 years ago
no you need surgery and its not that bad i just had it last friday and im sitting on a pillow now it really is worth the operation, cause i waited two years and got sick of the pain so i got my cyst off
Greekstud2k8 2 years ago
you should ask your doctor for it, in my opinion, you should take it off by surgery, because it keeps coming on and on. surgery will remove the root of the cyst. I will have my surgery soon, probably by march. surgeon said i will go out of hospital same day. I hope everything will be fine for everyone !

hey! i am not sure if i have or have not a cyst!...there is a small bump in my natal cleft! does not drain or anything...and kinda feels hard like a bone!
how long does it take for it too grow big and painful? how hard does it feel when you touch it? i was wondering if it is an osteophyte or a cyst!
mamal868 1 year ago
@TheDuster88 I had the surgery and was out of hospital same day and felt little to no discomfort. since the surgery I have felt better then ever before and i have absolutely no discomfort or pain. There are two different surgical procedures. one is more effective then the other but has a longer healing time. But you also have to make sure you let it heal safely.

Also the swelling went away about 90% and keeps going down.
any info sites?

its better to get it off now while you are young cause if you get older fucker is gonna hurt like crazy i just had mine removed and its not bad at all
Greekstud2k8 2 years ago
Couple of good pics there FouadIE, can i ask in the second pic, how deep was the hole? And also, how comes you didnt shave the area, did the hairs not go into the hole?
Looks like it healed really well, I had mine stitched three weeks ago, 4/5 healed, but the top 1/5 opened so its an open wound now, about 2cm deep.
1thepurplemonkey 2 years ago
ive had mine for 5 years been to 3 different doctors 2 of which prescribed antibiotics which clearly done nothing. need the surgery now and its got very deep
ryanconway87 2 years ago
how much does the surgery cost?mine is pretty small about half an inch ive had it for a year and cant wait to get this cyst of my crack
prozag11 2 years ago
i'm suprised you've endured it for a year, those lil fruckers hurt! Surgery cost will depend on how deep and what they do. Are you sure yours is a pilonidal cyst? Cuz they normally get bigger and make it damn near impossible to do anything. as it does so.
emie868 2 years ago
haha mine doesn't hurt, but its about the same size*knock on wood* and I'm hoping to get it removed either spring break next year, christmas break this year, or next summer(2011) or when the healthcare thing gets passed if I get free healthcare..(I doubt it will be free, but I can dream) I don't have a job, and I can only get into school for like 1-2 classes so far :P oh well. things will turn around! KEEP LOOKING FORWARD! YAY

AHHGHRHG I have one now, and it hurts like a mofo! I'm going to be getting the surgury in a week. It flared up this weekend, but i'm so relieved it drained by itself today, and I feel a little better. I can't wait to get this thing off my ass! ha well your cut looks like it's healing well.

gmw0722 2 years ago
have you had any problems with it comming back? I've read that it can come back after being removed. I've got mine. had it for a few years. it swelled up realy bad one time and I had to put ice packs on it all the time. I bent over and it popped while it was numb. I thought it was my lower back popping. but it was the cyst, it sealed up. built up, then I popped it and got a core with a bunch of hair out. its building up again and I might get surgery this summer when I have insurance.
TropicalJosh 2 years ago
no it gets completely removed, the duct and everything. theres a scar but thats it man once u get the surgery its gone forever
gmw0722 2 years ago
Raveonkids 2 years ago
true, there is a 40% chance it will come back!
OMG!! this is the worst pain of my life. i cant sit!! i cant walk!! i have no insurance!! WTF America!!
D4R3W 2 years ago 7
hahah well I can sit and I can walk, I'm affraid to go weight lift though, cuz it gets in the way of crunches/situps, and I don't want it to get irritated and swell up. it's chaotic!!! but hopefully something will be done about insurance soon :)

I have a cyst but prefer antibiotic treatment, I certainly do not want to go through any of this!!

uhhh... it might work but it COULD come back and we all know how much fun it is to walk around feeling like you got a racquettball stuck to your ass.
SRT480HP 3 years ago 2
typically, antibiotics wont work for this kind of cyst. it will certainly help with the infection if one exists, but the cyst comes from an infected hair and antibiotics wont get rid of the hair
Gamrptr 3 years ago
I just discovered I have the same problem, it was a bump that I thought was acne and had it for months, but yesterday it busted and now there is some kind of flesh or tissue about the size of an eraser sticking out of the hole. I guess I need to get it removed, although the surgery videos look extremely painful and dangerous
crashoran 3 years ago
Why in the world would they not shave the area before doing the procedure???
LennyG4362 3 years ago
I think because the procedure was simple. To drain the cyst, as I am still waiting for another procedure to remove the cyst root or something like that. but for time being I need to have a procto-scopy to check of possible channels between cyst and anus.
FouadIE 3 years ago
yep--i too had a staph infected polynital cyst. Out for 4 months, no work, no money, all pain. At home nurse had to see me twice daily for dressing change, for 4 months. had it Oct. 04'---all good now. Surgeon said it was the second largest he'd done.Glad I had surgery, feel sorry for anyone looking at my xtra long ass crack
wesvassar 3 years ago
my husband had one of these but it was'nt till it discharged itself a third time we took it to a doctor who immdiatly put him on antibiotics and refered him for surgrey, during the wait for the op this thing tracked from 2cm above the anus to 10cm above the butt cleft it would leak foul smelling greenish brown from the holes it had previously 'broken through'he ended up having extensive surgrey and the surgeon told us it was one of the worst he'd seen. he is fine now a year later.

Hi, and welcome to the 'Pilonidal Club', nothing to be proud of I know, but hey, I've been a sufferer for about 30 years!
I hope your removal surgery goes well. Ask your surgeon to get rid of all traces of any sinuses/tracts/pits/channels though.
reallyshocking 3 years ago
I just went through having one of these. It started draining on its own but the surgeon still lanced it. I'll be going through removal surgery this summer to get rid of the dang thing because I don't want it coming back on me....

I found out yesterday that the surgery I had was to drain the cyst, I still have another surgery coming to remove the root that caused that. I went to hospital yesterday because I felt that the cyst is growing back. and me who thought that all my pains are history now. but there's still to come. :-(
FouadIE 3 years ago
ah are you getting the "pit picking" procedure done? Thats what I got and it was only a little bit painful to lay on my back for like 3 days. good luck!
