Wow. I really wonder how much thyey payed the people who did this, because i've heard it was the cheapest option sometimes, even though it looks better than really any other creature techniques. Not even the newest CGI can compare to the wonders of stop-motion.
The smoothness of this guy's animation is SICK! It's freak'n incredible!
At first I was saddened when I found out that Willis O'Brien had help working on The Black Scorpion, since I was blown away by the smoothness of the animation and figured it was O'Bbrien's final Masterwork, his best animation in terms of fluidity in motion.
But now I see the driving force behind such realistic looking movement. I have met yet another stop motion master. Pete Peterson.
@TheBirthfan Also, as to the music played at the end, I think it is a band called "The Mysterians".
Wow, this animation and the animation in The Black Scorpion can go toe to toe with Ray Harryhausen's and Phil Tippets in terms of how well it overcomes the flaw of jerkiness that breaks up the flow of realistic movement. Another Special Effects god added to my pantheon.
I loved watching these on the bonus features on "The Black Scorpion", an iconic stop-motion cult classic. "The Animal World" is also a film to check out, especially the dinosaur sequence featuring the last time Ray Harryhausen and Willis O'Brian worked together. That can also be found in the bonus features menu on "The Black Scorpion" DVD as well. It's a great package! If you don't have it, whcih I'm sure everyone watching this video does, buy it now!
Peterson was truly a unsung hero of animation.

The backstory for The Beetlemen doesn't match the footage. How many astronauts WERE there in the chamber?

Cloverfield must have seen this tape and made a movie from it.
