Marriage predates recorded history; that includes monotheism. Straight couples are allowed to decide for themselves to have a religious ceremony or not. They are allowed to decided to procreate or not. They are allowed to decide to divorce or not. So leave the religious arguments, the procreation arguments, and the relationship duration arguments at the door. No, it is simply not enough to be "allowed" to be gay. The legal rights afforded straight couples should be the same as same-sex couples.

Yes its a law for all but your trying to get specail laws for yourself. And marrisage is also a spiritual thing by God. Its not man made. If God wanted same sex union He would of created it that way. So this is trying to change Gods law not mans.

I'm a democrat and don't understand why gay marriage should be legalized. I live in Maryland and hope our state doesn't legalize gay marriage.

You do realize that In certain countries people get killed for being gay, as they do for being christians or not supporting capititalism. Just allowing gays to be in this country and do what they want is good enough, if they want to live with each other than so be it, I just don't understand why we have to legalize gay marriage for it to be "equal".

@The1Skinsfan obviously you not the most progresive person in the world ,your more like michelle bachmann , and yes their are reasons for marriage equality , for instance right now if my sister's partner was sent to the hospital, my sister could be told no you cant see her in the hospital, they have huge tax problems , and property problems could occur, my sister was even once fired for being gay , and yes in America you can live a nomal life and be gay and thats the way its suppose to be,

@The1Skinsfan oh sorry i read that line wrong , please explaine why should my sister and partner who been together 12 years should not get married, but 2 strangers who meet on the street can, and no she cant sue remember that why us supporters fight to pass enda , and no there is no way around all the legal benefits issues ,by the way something we agree on is we both go for the redskins:)

@sunshine79768 Yeah go skins, but seriously why couldn't your sister sue it's illegal to fire someone based on race or religon, why not if your gay. I geuss my main issue with gay marriage is their are other issues the state needs to focus on like how to repair the damaged city of Baltimore or fix pg county's school system, I just don't see how legalizing gay marriage or slot machines is going to help all of that.

@The1Skinsfan hell yes i go for the skins, glad the lockout is almost over with, yes their are other important issues that us supporters of equality would like to help on, but if there are laws that discrimnate we have to defeat them first, and i was proud of New York , people's rights should never be voted on , and the republicans that voted for equality where already in favor of equality, they just voted no last time around because of polical bs

I still think improving Baltimore shuld be our number 1 priority not legalizing gay marriage.

@The1Skinsfan no ,i just dont want discrimnation in the Maryland constution, and we can improve Baltimore at the same time and i agree Balitmore needs help, you have a opinion and i have one to and im sorry for causing a argument with you, but this battle is coming next year to Maryland and mostlikely will go before the people, this is my priorty not just because of my sister, but also for children who are part of the lbgt community so they can feel in their state they mean something

Its called conflict of interest no one judge can make a law that is just for a small........ Minority of people. This is no equal right its a specail right just for a small group of people.
