I think Lita and Joan are equally talented. But, like all bandsw, there are disagreements, which was the demise of the Runaways. But just give the credit to where it was due, it made way for the future talent that was incluenced by them. Everyone has their opinion about one membor or another, just accept and move on. Rock is rock and enjoy it for what it is.
Joan Jett is so overrated it isn't funny. I always thought, "I Love Rock N' Roll' was the biggest piece of garbage I ever heard (I am aware that its a cover). I have Lita Ford's albums "Lita", "Stiletto", and "Dangerous Curves" all of which I enjoy from beginning to end. Her first couple albums "Out For Blood" and "Dancing On The Edge" don't sound terrible either from what I've heard of them so as soon as I track them down I am purchasing them. "Black" and "Wicked Wonderland" were weak though.

Wicked Wonderland was terrible, but it's all Jim's fault, even Lita now says it was his project, not hers. Black was Lita's grunge period I would say but it's still passionate for me, especially 'War of the Angels", 'Joe', and 'Killing Kind'.

Like EVERY band who's in-fighting caused the fans to suffer, EAGLES to PINK FLOYD and others, I find if they fought for a legacy one can be proud of, they'd try and do it for the fans, for the sake of the impact music has in one's life. The Runaways plus her solo career and Joan still has her beat. Joan wrote 99% of The Runaways songs either alone or with someone. I remember only one song Lita wrote alone. It was " Trash Can Murders " off of " Waitin' For The Night.

Im a mjor fan of both Joan Jett and the Runaways, but i agree, EdgePlay hs way more info on the band that the film left out, the movie is one of my favs, but i think it wouldve been alot better if it went into the background of each band member and not just focuse on joan and cherie, The movie is pretty much bubble gum compared to edge play
The Runaways movie, was something to watch out of curiosity but didn't go much further past that. The fact, is I was surprised at how much I appreciated the actress who was playing Joan, but other than that, I thought this movie was crap. I agree with the recommendation to watch the documentary. It's a whole lot more accurate for those who are actual fans of The Runaways.
yea I saw the edgeplay documentary ...what really popped out at me was how good Cherie looked at 40 something and really all the girls stories how this was all so familiar as a teen musician we had an ass of a mgr too ,(we were guys) only we never went beyond opening acts local bars,these girls nearly went all the way but the mgr pocketed all their money,joan and Lita made it out the others probably never got royalties nor gig money ,yet they were selling millions of records

The "character meat" of the film is about 48% Jett and 48% Currie, with the other 4% taken up on the characters of Lita Ford, Robin Robins (i.e. Jackie Fox), and Sandy West - thereby kind of reducing everyone other than Jett and Currie to little more than a footnote in the story when, in fact, those other girls helped to make the band what it was. Considering her portrayal is little more than background scenery, I'm not surprised Lita Ford doesn't want to talk about it.

They { the runaways} broke up cuz of musical differences between Joan and Lita now in my opinion if they were truly serious about the band then they should have found a way to combine both metal and punk influences to their band's sound. Lita Ford is a total bitch. I met her in 1990 when my band opened for her. She was not only rude to everyone who worked in the club but to her fans too. We heard she would only sign a few autographs then retreated to her dressing room. She yelled at her band during soundcheck too, scary. She's talented, but totally Bipolar...

What I did not like is the fact that the movie is Produced By Joan and Laguna and basically is all about Cherrie and Joan, and their love story with each other. Forget the movie, watch the documentry about the Runaways - "Edgeplay". It tells you all you need to know. Lita is, was, and forever will be a bitch. She had a big hand in breaking up the original Runaways. Plain and simple. Oh, and out of everything these women ever went on to do, in my opinion nothing compared to their first album- The Runaways. Joan did some great stuff later, but there is something very raw about that first album to me wich can't be topped.

Joan Jett is so overrated it isn't funny. I always thought, "I Love Rock N' Roll' was the biggest piece of garbage I ever heard (I am aware that its a cover). I have Lita Ford's albums "Lita", "Stiletto", and "Dangerous Curves" all of which I enjoy from beginning to end. Her first couple albums "Out For Blood" and "Dancing On The Edge" don't sound terrible either from what I've heard of them so as soon as I track them down I am purchasing them. "Black" and "Wicked Wonderland" were weak though.

I didn't see the movie or see Edgeplay. What I do know is Joan Jett has been out there, rocking and touring for a LOT longer than Lita Ford. Combine Lita's time in
The Runaways plus her solo career and Joan still has her beat. Joan wrote 99% of The Runaways songs either alone or with someone. I remember only one song Lita wrote alone. It was " Trash Can Murders " off of " Waitin' For The Night.

Lessee here... The "character meat" of the film is about 48% Jett and 48% Currie, with the other 4% taken up on the characters of Lita Ford, Robin Robins (i.e. Jackie Fox), and Sandy West - thereby kind of reducing everyone other than Jett and Currie to little more than a footnote in the story when, in fact, those other girls helped to make the band what it was. Considering her portrayal is little more than background scenery, I'm not surprised Lita Ford doesn't want to talk about it.

In my opinion, I think Lita Ford is doing herself, and the other girls, a disservice by not at least commenting on the portrayal at all... Sure, one part paints her in a less than perfect light, but come on...NONE of us in the world are perfect, Lita!
the Runaways are a part of my youth that I wouldn't change for anything.. And the way Lita's been about her part in the group, I've found myself gravitating especially more recently, towards Joan as a real "hero" of those years.

In the closing credits they only mentioned currie, jett and fowley. What about the rest of the band members. That as B.S.! Also, Lita kinda appeared outta nowhere in the movie. The sound track was good but the story was poorly written and just portrayed lita as a bitch.
I wonder what its like growing up with Lita as yur mom. I guess you don't wanna piss her off.

I do think it is funny that if you look at their records and hits, it proves Lita came up with more original songs, and Joan's biggest hits were remakes of hit songs already. Not that her remakes were bad, but they were remakes.

I like both Lita and Joans' music, I even liked there bassist music from the Bangles. I watched the movie and it was not that good. What I did not like is the fact that the movie is Produced By Joan and Laguna and basically is all about Cherrie and Joan, and their love story with each other. It is based off of the book that Cherrie wrote, so of course it was going to make Lita out to be the bitch.

She went to Hughes Jr.High(now Middle School) I went to the local Catholic School(yuck) anyways what I remember of her she was a tough chick and pretty cool. Then the Runaways hit and i never say her after that. She was a few years older than me and I'm glad she did well..

LOL Well if you are a part of it you make sure you are "portrayed" correctly right? I prefer Joan's music to Lita's any day! Lita looks like she had/has bitter all over her face. Forget the movie, watch the documentry about the Runaways - "Edgeplay". It tells you all you need to know. Lita is, was, and forever will be a bitch. She had a big hand in breaking up the original Runaways. Plain and simple. Oh, and out of everything these women ever went on to do, in my opinion nothing compared to their first album- The Runaways. Joan did some great stuff later, but there is something very raw about that first album to me wich can't be topped.

walked away from several band patrons during her break Performing at Asbury Park NJ at the Fast Lane in
1981. Lita Ford at least held a 5 minute conversation with people.. I ran into her
in 1988 at Whisky A-Go Go LA..
