  • @HotRod4100 Hehehehe! Calma aí, colega. Eu sou dono de 4 cilindros sim, e bem mancos, por sinal......rsrsrsrsrs Mas vc há de convir, que muitos 4 cilindros arrepiam V8´s.... Basta ver os que os Fuscas fazem em Interlagos, com Mavericks, Opalas, etc. Pra um deles bater um Fusca bem preparado, tem que estar muuuuuuuuito bem preparado. E é um simples Fusca, sem tecnologia, só uma turbina e muita boa vontade e criatividade.

    Agora, vc querendo ou não, a tecnologia faz diferença sim!

    esse civic modelo EK do video ñ tem turbo nao mas ta extremamente preparado pra arrancada!!(o que tambem fika uma beleza)

  • but put that motor in a covette, camaro or mustang and it wont run nearly as quick. yeah the cars are quick but they will never be in the same league as V8's or I6's. because as much as you do up an I4, you can do up an I6 or V8 even more. put 200hp in a go kart and you'll run 7's as well.

  • The only point he made was, heavy cars are not good for Race cars.

    Secondly, the reason your Mustang cathches up with the RX 7 is nothing more magical then Transmission gearing, and Torque. At higher speeds in 4th and 5th gear the Car with taller Tranny gears coupled with more torque will eventually have a greater TOP SPEED, however the lighter the car and the more geary the tranny the QUICKER you will be.

    Import = quick nimble Domestic = FAST heavy

    Not to say their are not light domestics

  • (thanks for the info) interesting i always compare the 4ycl mustang to the Turbo II cause i had owned both cars in different occasion and yes they are very close on speed, if i go by my instinct I'll say that the Turbo II is slightly faster. them 2 cars are great cars, back in the 80 i was a teenager and i didn't realise that the mustang was Turbo after a year lol. good info.

  • yes, it is the V8. what I'm saying is the Civic has the advantage over the Maverick (just the car itself) but the V8 is better than the I4 (motor for motor). so if you took the V8 and put it in the civic it would be ridiculous, conversely put the I4 in the Maverick and you're going nowhere fast. I'm sure the K24 can be beat by several cars. but again, its not the K24 thats winning, its the Civic. what if you put the K24 in a Maverick? same situation. its cause civics are like half a car.

A 440 mopar hemi was dynoed and stock, N/A made in the neighbourhood of 800hp. what does a K24 top out at? like 600hp? LSx blocks are rated for 2500hp.

  • lets put it this way. from an engineering standpoint the V8 layout is theoretically better than the I4. its more efficient and can therefore make more power. its up to companies to refine their motors. Gm is definitely not taking advantage of what they've got, but the potential is still there. if both motors were optimized a 2L V8 will make more power than a 2L I4. if you make a high rev high displacement V8 (wide bore, short stroke) it will make mad hp too. no torque though.

  • I think if we are talking street wise 4cil are at front but i have to handed to you guy's in the NHRA point of view, but seriusly 4 cil are just steping over the 8 cil path very close in a profesional way. did you know we have a funny car that makes 4000 hp 5sec. in the 1/4 mile? check my video Import vs Domestic and you'll see it there just the of Norwood Racing pictur dough and Bret Rau Eclipse.

The most Hp you could get out of a K24 would be about 400hp NA. Obvcourse V8's are going to make more power. Point is you CAN have a 9 second 1.8L Civic. Thats more then fast enough. Understand?

  • Muscle cars are one of my favorites i wont argue with that since I had my self some Muscle cars from the 60 and 70's but domestics cars this day's are not worth spending money, for the cost of a Saleen i can built a 9 sec. Honda Civic and still have money left for spare parts. Mustang Saleen are nice but to pricey. Love Dodge Challenger R/T uff!!

  • Right, Civics are ugly.... while I dont like every body style for the Civic I can say my Favorite is the 96-98 Civic Coupe/ and or hatch. Lowered with rims these cars take a sleek stance. They have a fastback "apperance" and a wide stance. Very Aerodynamic, This is one of the best import FF powered platforms period. Your poor placed opinions limits you from enjoying an awesome platform. You "think" theyre ugly,more power to you, I happen to like the way they look. To each his own.

    615hp @ 6,600 Possibly 802hp @ 8,600rpms! Far and above what the stock parts can do!

  • Its not me technically who's claiming that. there was an article written where they took several old stock motors to see how much power they rly made. the 440 made close to 800hp. you're right that beauty is all relative, but these cars were never made to look sleek. they were economy grocery getters.  I don't know if its one of the best FF's, maybe in a drag cause its light as fuck. regardless FR > FF pretty much everywhere.

  • 1st The 440 just does NOT make 800hp stock Sorry. You must have mis-remembered what you read.

    2nd FF powered cars show a distinct advantage in handling for cars powered up to 260hp

    Less oversteer correction in turns, Higher cornering speeds, ligher weight, better Drive Trane effiency the list goes on and on.

    3rd Sorry but The Civic Type R IS Aero Dynamic and was created for the express purpose for TRACK RACING. Spoon sponsors a 24 hour endurance track race to develop products for this car.

  • well for one ok v8 is stronger which is why people wasted money puttin an LS1 corvette motor in a civic and it only ran 12's because the civic is most likely 2 light 2 get traction. there's civics running 7 seconds. so take the same civic and put a v8 and a 4 banger fully built and your gettin there about the same time..or like this video with a v8 delayed on the track...v8 is all torque when ur done peeling out u gotta catch up..if u launch low u might get us at first but we'll get there first.

  • You can build a V8 to run just like a 4cyl. the fact that is has 4 extra cylinders doesnt make the torque, its the long stroke. make a high rev short stroke V8 and you get the same results, but better. as for the luis guy,I think i read something about that, the guy made his own 4cyl block out of aluminium. and that rau guy is fast as shit, dunno how he launches so hard. but in the end the V8's always make more power.

    Se estiver realmente falando sério, deveria ser menos ignorante...ninguém nunca falou que o Civic não queimou, por isso fio colocado o tempo de pista do mesmo. Sabe o que significa tempo de pista? Significa o tempo que cada carro levou para percorrer 201m, sem contar o tempo de REAÇÃO!

  • E, se te agrada saber, o Civic ganhou do Maverick no tempo total (reação + pista). Agora, se acha que o piloto do Maverick é ruim, tu é algum gênio que conseguiu ver isso em uma telinha tão pequena em um vídeo com uma camera só. Mas, se acha isto mesmo, vai falar para ele, se olhar os comentários do vídeo (coisa que não fez, se não não teria falado tanta bobagem), vai notar que ele comentou e pode ir direto no perfil dele, não vou permitir ofensas aqui neste vídeo.

  • Maverick de rua com mais de 1500kg, diferencial longo, pneus de rua e "acréscimo de peso" arrancando em 201m fica complicado. Se souber de alguma pista com 402m me avisa que podemos tentar tirar este meio segundo. Tem toda a quarta marcha para andar ainda...

  • Inicialmente, o Maverick é seu? Se for, parabéns pelo belo carro, com certeza um dos mais bonitos que estavam arrancando por lá. Agora, me lembro que o melhor tempo deste carro foi conquistado com pneus EXCLUSIVOS para competição. Sobre os 1500kg...lhe informo que o Civic na ocasião pesava com piloto 1200kg e também asseguro que dispunha de todos os itens de conforto que o Maverick como direção hidráulica, vidro, trava elétrica e assim por diante.

  • Sobre os 402m, já lhe asseguro que não existe este exemplo de tirar meio segundo, qualquer pessoa que se dedica um mínimo a estudar os números da fotocélula sabe disto. Mas deixando isto de lado, como um admirador de v8, te convido a participar de uma corrida de arrancada em 402m, dias 2 e 3 de junho em Santa Cruz do Sul. A Categoria Desafio de Porto Alegre foi convidada e está extendendo este convite a todos os carros que desejam se inscrever e participar com a gente.

  • Portanto Jean, se o carro for seu, vamos lá que o Civic também vai estar e tu vai ter a chance de tentar tirar o meio segundo de quarta. Se o carro não for seu, avise o proprietário então.

  • Sim amigo, por isso botei o tempo de pista, e não o tempo com reação! Tempo de pista ou "e.t." só leva em conta o tempo que se leva para percorrer os 201m ou 402m e não o tempo total com a reação.

  • Muito trabalho...! Na temporada de 2006 era basicamente um kit nitro com dois estágios, uma suspensão com ajuste de pressão e altura, pneus Advan e um certo alívio de peso como retirada do banco traseiro, tampa traseira de fibra e coisas deste tipo. Bastante acerto para chegar neste tempo! Agora em 2007 vamos tentar melhorar mais.
