It is not fair for the people who voted for this government. they should respect the government that democratically elected by the majority. As for the tourists? The situation in Thailand has been pretty hostile for months and they went anyway. It's not like these people are being harmed. Have you missed the anti-government protests in Thailand this year? This exact thing happened in May.. June.. it didn't work. So now they're going after the tourist economy until the government listens. It makes sense. Given that the PM obviously has no support from his people, I think it'd be best if he resigned.

A fair reply. However, tourists feel like they're in danger and being held hostage. The protester and any other terrorists do what they do for media attention. They use the media as their marketing tool. Not giving them what they want goes a long way towards them NOT WINNING! The media has too much power in reporting acts of terrorism and in political contests.

But they are trying to use the media as a marketing tool. There have been plenty of anti-government protests before, but because of this publicity stunt, it's gotten far more coverage. The media is covering the wrong thing by *just* talking about the tourists, but the tactic worked in drawing international attention. Their cause isn't being reported, so in that sense the hasn't *really* worked, but if no one will listen to your concerns any other way, you turn to more drastic measures, yeah?
