Ha! Never heard it in English, ach translations! Her technique is so much better than most now, she had a beautiful rich voice, and never tried to "make it rich" sounding, but goes clear and high placed. If only that was taught now, out of the mouth, and into the stars! beautiful beautiful singer!
I had no idea that the Scandinavian Lieder repertoire was known so early in the US. Marian Anderson is a concept for me (in a tiny part in Un Ballo di Maschera) and in Götterdämmerng. I thank God for the liberal Rudolph Bing who made the Metropolitan a stage for many and fought ferociously against racial prejudice.
