  • Clicked on this video randomly, don't actually need this exercise but I was curious to see how it felt, and even on my neck/chin which I wouldn't consider droopy or sagging at all, I still felt the effects of this. It's so odd the first time you work a new set of muscles, strange but cool feeling.

    Any idea how many times a day this should be done? if this will prevent future sagging (I'm young, but we all get old!) I'll keep it up!

  • broken my jaw in 3 places last year due to a golfing accident and sadly 25 more pounds of pressure would have killed me. which sounds like alot but it takes 7psi to cut human skin .ANYWAYS to help with the arthritis pain my doctor said to do some jaw exercises. Is this what he had in mind?

  • There is a proliferation of this type of video all over the internet now, and about time. It's just common sense.

    Ever wondered why the average man is less wrinkled on much of their faces than the average woman? Ever really watched a man shave with a razor? They do this every day and that is why they look younger. It's not hormones, they aren't just the lucky sex, they do facial exercises every day as they shave.

    As I said, common sense.

  • your jaw should hurt its like exercisising any other muscle in your body. you will be sore meaning your neck is tightening up

  • You should only feel the triangle under your chin working as the muscles contract. If your jaw hurts you are pushing the lower jaw out too far. :)

  • It should tone and define, not add width to your chin or face. Try the exercise for two weeks to see :)

  • @FaceworksUK I have another problem. It's rather below the cheeks. My actual cheeks are barely visible, even when I'm smiling, and even though my face is oval-shaped, it could look round-ish because of that, and it makes me look younger which I hate. Is there any exercise to thin out that part?

  • @Nihilanthe We have exercises specifically for the cheeks to tone and sculpt the area

  • my jaw hurts when i do this is that ok and my head hurts a little(i may be tilting my head back to far)

  • You only need to push your jaw out by about an inch, so the lower teeth are in front of the top ones. The tilt of the head should be about three inches, no more. :)

  • dont over do it, you damage your cranial nerves, and you dont want that, such as the facial nerve and trigeminal

    Push the jaw forward, as if pointing to the opposite wall with your chin.

    The Exercise defines the jaw and tones under the chin, it won't enlarge the chin.

    rohstertag: I'm a therapist not an internet con artist, my business wouldn't survive if the exercises didn't work. The photos are of real clients taken in my therapy suite, not faked with make up.

    Youstb: you should feel a slight ache, nothing severe.

  • I remember back in the days that the bodybuilders would were a headstrap that held weights. They would do this exercise laying on the bench and pulling their heads up, same move. They also do it face down and work their back of their head and neck muscles. This was a big thing for football players too! They added 45lbs to really beef up their necks.

  • It shouldn't do ,but if you are in any doubt or if you have a neck injury that limits movement it's best to check with your GP.

  • IF you have sagging skin this will NOT work.If you are thin and trim it WILL help you keep it that way.Sagging skin needs surgery to get rid of this.Once the fat is removed it will not come back unless you put on a lot of weight real fast..This video is misleading.

  • It would be against my principles to put a video on YouTube that did not work.

    Surgery is one way to go, but sagging is due to the loosening of underlying tissue. By toning the muscles, the area lifts and consequently the skin attached to the muscles lifts too. Loose skin therefore sits in a more 'youthful' profile under the chin, eliminating folds and crepiness.

  • If you do this exercise 2 or three times a day, it will start to work after three weeks. The movement is slow - to make sure that you're working the muscles, not the tendons in your neck. Take care, Elaine

  • I'm skinny. 120 pounds, 5'7' but I kinda have some of the double chin going on, not bad. I just have a full face, maybe it's baby fat. I'm still 16.

  • Any exercise takes time to show changes, but you should notice a difference after two weeks as the muscles start to change shape. Losing all the fat under your chin would also depend on your weight generally.

  • well, if you are chubby it's going to take more than a measly face workout to lose all that fat. the face exercise will simply build muscle under the fat in your face and it won't be noticeable. you gotta lose weight on your entire body first. do cardio. eat healthy.

  • Well, you can't aim a specific area and lose fat there.. You can burn of fat by gaining muscle, since muscle burns a lot more fat than fat does, of course. But if your muscles get firmer in your face, your skin won't hang as much ;) But if you want to lose fat.. Eat healthy (Not all that diet shit, it might give you weight loss, but you lose muscle and after the diet, you'll gain more weight than before) Train your muscles, do some cardio, cut away sugar, instead vegetables and fruits =)Just ask

  • You might be pushing your bottom jaw out too far. Just push ithe lower jaw out a little, about half an inch.

  • Great question! With age, all muscles shrink and slacken unless they are worked. Facial skin becomes 'too big' and loss of elasticity in older skin causes folds and crepiness to appear. This exercise builds and tones the muscles under the chin, as the muscles regain their original shape the skin is plumped out from underneath so loose skin diminishes. Take a look at Susan's photos on the website. She was delighted with her new jawline and it was lovely to see her so happy.

    The muscles they exercise are all on the lower half of the face, so I cannot see that there would be any improvement to the eyes, upper cheek, forehead, or between the brows.

    We all know that body exercise is good whatever your age. At 17 your face will naturally be rounder than at say, 25 but the exercises will still help to define the muscles. I used to just suck my cheeks in when I was your age but it meant I couldn't talk! you can also use a little make up a shade darker than foundation under the cheekbones, looks great if you blend it in well.

  • There is an extra de-stress sequence on the website. I would love to upload all the exercises for free but after two years developing and testing Faceworks and paying for the website, I really need to earn some money. I bet you wouldn't do your job for free!

  • Thanks for your comment! This exercise is one of the less complicated of 12 different exercises for the face, if you saw some of the others you'd see there was no time to add anything else :)

    Also as Faceworks is a therapy and not purely entertainment the focus of the film is to help clients improve how they look, so concentration has to be on what they're doing.

  • hi.. first off your exercise is really helpful.. im just confused about this one thing..instead of my jaw muscles taking the hit, my cheeks tend to stretch in an unbearable jolt of pain.. am i doing it right??

  • You may be using your whole jaw. Just slide the bottom jaw forward a little, that may help. Also if you put your fingertips under your chin it should help you feel where the muscles are working. Under your chin is the only area that should feel the effect. Hope this helps!

  • Yes men can do the exercises too! Well done for losing the weight you wanted. Once you've toned your jawline it will still need exercising a little to maintain the muscles in their 'new' shape, possibly only once a day, which isn't a lot and would take less time than shaving.

  • Everyone's different and it does depend on how much the muscles need toning - but if you do the exercise two/three times a day, five times a week you should see results by two weeks.
