You like the 60's ? please, listen and podcast my broadcast "le super son des 60's", connect to "plumfm". Salut et faites gaffe au rock and roll.
"colorsmadeoftears": Maybe the humour here is like the "In Living Color; Men on Football" skit (or "Men on Film", etc.--the clips come up on YouTube). Laughing with, not at. Again, I don't speak French so it's hard to discern (posted here previously as Ferapont82). But love this video by Jacqueline Taieb; it's always fun to view.
LOL. Just viewed again, the limp wrist thing that appears near the end does indeed coincide with her mentioning gay Andre Gide, etc. She must have been making fun of effeminacy. Hopefully in a good natured way though. The video doesn't seem malevolent.
I wished to post a translation, so you can all realise how lame the lyrics are and be desillusioned, but it's too long. Let's go for a recap:
It's about student's life in a humanities faculty (where you learn litterature, philosophy, history,etc.).
The classes are said to be BORING, she's hungry, but the sandwiches have no ham(!), psychology students talk ego, have pimples, & for some reason, discuss philosophy. Litterature graduates are supposedly GAY, 'cause they only read gay authors. WOW !
I don't know if it's her voice or the words to the song, but the French language sounds especially good in this video. Have viewed many France Gall and Francoise Hardy ("French ye ye") videos, and this video seems as cute as any. Curious to know the songs meaning. Couldn't find the lyrics in order to attempt the wacky on-line translation service.
The song's lyrics are phoney and the ryming (sorry I speak french ;-) ) are especially poor, wih very simple words. My teacher at uni took the piss about this song. Anyway, "La fac de lettres" means "The Humanities faculty", it's where you learn litterature, history and philosophy at university.
French ye ye and 1960's/70's San Remo Festival videos are my favorite. Just found this one and it sails right to the top of them all. What a nice video.
je suis etudiant de Francais maintenanat a Rutgers New Brunswick. we had to listen to this song for class. i love it. and brigitte bardot, and all the ye-ye singers.
