There is a meteorite fall in the Meteoritical Society for Tokio Texas, 1974. Two actually. And yes, it's west of West, Texas - by several hundred miles! Southwest of Lubbock, actually.
There is a 2nd Tokio, SW of West by 10 miles. But this stone turned out to be part of the Ash Creek fall of Feb 15, 2009. Quite obvious once it was cut open.
The old man who found it wasn't sure if it was indeed a West. It had to be cut to be identified. The slices and endcut are now available at outofabluesky-dot-com
The west/ash creed stones are incompetent rocks and do not polish nicely, they didn't to break and fragment. Be warned.
Why did you cut it? It looked great and could have been sold whole. If I had the money at the moment, provided you wanted to sell on Ebay say, I would have bought it whole. I have a small collection myself and I like whole stones because that way you can wonder how the meteorite would have oriented itself through its descent in the atmosphere. I like the fusion crust which is incidentally magnetite. Anyway very nice chondrite you have.
nice one .
