back in july 2007 i was flying to jacksonville florida from nashville and they came on the speakers saying all the flights were gonna be 45 mins late cause the president was taking off and i had no idea he was there! i was sitting in front of the window and got to watch it take off, it was really neat

It's not that low. Low for some sort because the highway must be close to the runway where the AF1 is supposed to land and if you don't know, Commercial Aircrafts lands with at least 10-15% of fuel making it light and able to land in a perfect altitude while these US Air Force Babies had to land with 40-60% of fuel still in tanks due to the amount of Reserve fuel they carry. Making them heavy and need a low altitude and all the runway they could eat. And touch the runway as early as possible.

yes the VC-25 is a modified 747-200 but there can be many "modified" 747s so they have to give it a name :-) just like the dc-10 vs the KC-10 or the 707 vs the E-3 or the 747-200 vs VC-25 and/or E-4

Yes very true, there are two of them, one is a back up just in case!!!!! Although the term " AIR FORCE ONE" is only used when it actually carries the president of the United States!!!
