this is terrorfying. Really. I have a 17 year old about to go to college. I am so afraid for her. What do we have to leave our children? I grew up in the 70's. It was a wonderful time to be a kid. we had a boat and a place on the river. I was not able to give my girl what I had. It is just too hard to maintain just living, working, and going to school.I tell My girl to go into nursing. that seems safe, but she has no desire for that I know she doesnt understand that this economy is not normal

We have too many strip malls and shopping centers in the US. I am not sure where this is, but I have been traveling extensively of the past few years and have seen similar all over this US and in Latin America and Asia so not just the USA. Thing is there was never a need for this much retail. I went into a resort town in Vietnam this year called Diamond Bay very nice place, but I was the only visitor. There are similar in China, Mexico and elsewhere.

I see this in my area also.What has happened over this past 15 years is over building of retail so excess capacity.I live in a city of 60K.We have 3 Walmart Super Centers.One super mall that is well over a mile in circumference another large indoor mall plus many many strip malls.And yes a Super Kmart.Americans are spending less and will be able spend even less in the future at brick and mortar locations.This is the result of less income and online shopping.So less building fuels less jobs.

@geforce1972 I agree with your comment !! I would add A NEW fair just money system and common sense with justice for all laws like in the criminal area also. I don,t know about the UK but here in the US...I have been in juries where the judge WAS forced to put away a person for 20 some years for ONLY 2 / 4 pieces of a supposedly dangeous illegal drug ?? If I had know that in advance; I would have voted NOT gulity; too MUCH expense involed in running a jail. What do you think ?

The same thing can be seen here in southern California. A lot of closed businesses and buildings for lease. Some of these businesses have been in the same location for over fifteen years and are now out of business.

I've seen multiple locations, in Orange County, that have been up for lease for almost three years now.
