  • OMG!! Can't believe I actually found this on youtube!! seen this movie when i was 12yrs old and fell in love with it!! He's the greatest actor ever!!!! LOL, showing my age...

  • this is my SERIOUSLY favorite movie.

  • I adore this movie.....all my family LOVE this...thanks so much xxxxxxxxx

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL ' idont know how to play pills' !!!! HAAH

  • I cannot believe, me, a gay boy growing up...

I use to have a crush on this woman....LOL

  • Not a looker for shirtless scenes but I wonder if Richard was truly nude in this? It would be kinda funny. If I lived on my own, no pajamas ever haha

  • This is my favorite movie.

    And Gumball Rally,A Chorus Line,too.

  • vccstudents : If I'm not mistaken, he was nominated for academy awards for both movies. I could be wrong. That was 34 years ago.

  • "I don't know how to play pills!" LMAO

  • @largosmom010 True but each is annoying in their own way. She's uptight and controlling, he's immature and irresponsible. Together they find out to grow up and be in a healthy relationship.

  • I love this movie....peter

  • I remember when John Belushi and Gilda Radner spoofed this on SNL. Too funny!

  • @vccstudents Yeah, That was kind of funny..Huh!

  • i don't know how to play the pills.

  • I think Richard Dreyfuss should have won the academy award for his role in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, as opposed to this role. But he was great in this movie, also.

  • @StephenB58 Dreyfus was great in "Close Encounters," and it would have been funny if he was nominated for BOTH movies since they both came out the same year!

  • I like this, but I also don't mind the remake.

  • The precocious New York City kid cliche used throughout the 1970s.

  • I've seen the remake

  • Ive seen this movie over 10 times and i never tire of watching it! love neil simons work! very funny, cute kid too, whatever happened to quinn cummings?

  • My late Father took me, to see this at the show in 1976 when I was 10 years old. People were better back then. If this movie were introduced today it would be a flop. People don't want to see real human interaction and real drama with interesting characters and witty dialog. They want to see cgi and zombies. As a child of 10 years old, seeing this film was one of the most memorable times of my youth. I love this film and when I try to show it to my 3 kids, they look at me like I have 3 heads.

  • my 10 yr.old girl loves this,my 6yr.old boy not so much,my mom took me to see this in the movie theater, who does that anymore?so many good scenes, movies of today dont compare to these, character and substance, what happened to movies?

  • I saw this in 1977 when I was about 9 and I loved it truly then. I saw the remake with Patricia Heaton and hated her horrible acting skills. She couldn't act at all. Marsha is great. Pat Heaton, horrible. She's a republican so that makes sense why shes lousy at acting. Yes, people were better then. Kinder, friendlier, because internet/cell phones weren't around then. People dealt with people, not technology.

  • A GREAT MOVIE!! i saw it this morning on TV !!! great story:D

  • I wish someone would upload the whole thing. : (

  • "I don't know how to play pills."

This movie is one of RD's best performances.

  • A while ago I fell into a horrible remake of this movie while switching channels one night. It starred Jeff Daniels and the actress who plays the mother in 'Everybody loves Raymond'. She was quite ok, but Daniels just made me cringe. I am not saying he is a bad actor, but he misses Dreyfuss' wit and charisma for this character. The qualities that made Dreyfuss hilarious in this scene. Daniels was just flat and irritating. In short: do not watch te remake.

  • Hated the remake with Patricia Heaton. Horrible lousy stinking actress. Unfortunately she's a republican and from my rotten state where I currently live-Ohio. Ugh! Marsha Mason could out act her any day of the week!

I totally agree with you. Actresses (not all) cannot do good with emotions. They're afraid to be emotional and go with feelings/sensations. Sad. I am a better actor than she.

  • @silentmoviemusicfrk Explain how being a Republican makes one a poor actor

  • Watching this movie is like listening to a really good tune. You never grow tired of it.

  • I'm watching this in school and we got a little passed this part today the part where he was kissing her in the bathroom with that white stuff on her face but everyone laughted at this part lol we loved it .

  • When I was a kid, my mom wanted to see this movie and I didn't. She was right, I liked it a lot it's a great movie! Oh, and I learned what charisma is.

  • Yes. It is a lot of fun.

  • my favorite and the most halarious movie.

brings back my good old college years.

  • What a truly fantastic film!

  • i never get tired of seeing this movie, i've only seen it a 100 times!!

  • to me men look more natural having sex, or being romantic, with other men. woman + woman too. kind of how I've heard people say that looks unnatural to them. I feel the same about seeing men and women together in that way/it doesn't look right to me. what a wonderful diverse world, huh??

  • I absolutely agree!! As a gay woman, I understand why you think that!!

  • What makes the whole film so wonderful is her past bad relationships & her not trusting him..but it all works out in the end! I love this movie. Thanks for sharing clips with us.

  • Not so wonderful is the way the Marsha Mason character is written and acted. She's hardly ever sympathetic. Sure, she's been burned by a lot of guys -- but she's so hard-edged you wonder how she met them in the first place. She sees the situation strictly in economic terms, consistently behaves as a bitch, and gives Dreyfuss no reason for getting to like her.

OH LOOK -ROGER EBERT agrees with me.

  • jesus christ your naked lololol thats when she fell in love with him hahaha

  • wow you have issues.

  • i am not the only one who sees that this character is bitchy. Maybe you are like her and have issues yourself.

To me, Marsha Mason always plays bitches. A single mom with a child, wise cracking, abrasive and sarcastic. Like this and The Goodbye Girl etc. She just is annoying and nasty to me. I felt she nearly ruined The Goodbye Girl. She was such a demanding bitch in that. In the remake of The Goodbye girl, the Posted 07/25/05 03:55:50 PM by jazza923

  • Apparently you are the only one with the negative counts by your name. In this character she's been burned to many times shes protecting herself. She loosens up at the end of the movie in case you haven't seen it all the way through.

  • Oh and as far as issues are concerned, everyone has them. I never said I didn't.

  • lol...,my luc is lys and my garfield (neil)irritates me all the time but lys finds him comforting...I'm living the movie...don't mind it one bit.

  • Please could some one put the entire movie into pieces in here i m in europe and they don't sail the dvd in zone 2, please i love this movie please

  • Ditto!

  • "Listen, did that guitar wake you?"

"No, you did". Haha! That is the best part!

  • Dreyfuss should have gotten the Oscar solely for somehow managing to portray an even MORE annoying character than Hooper from "Jaws."

  • ''I am decent, I also happen to be naked is my fave line from my fave movie ever.I have it on video and have watched many, many times.Richard Dreyfuss is always great and he really deserved his Academy Award for his role. Was'nt Quinn Cummings terrific too??Marsha Mason was married to Neil Simon(wrote the screenplay) at the time.I love everything he did.You cant beat NewYork Jewish humour.Although Northside Dubliners are very witty too!I'm not biased..I'm from Kildare!

  • ´This is the best movie ever made. Trust me on that.

  • naked but decent lol

  • Oh, this is my favorite movie in the whole world. I could really relate to the mother/daughter relationship because it was so much like my own.

  • he is playing the theme song!

  • Very funny. PLEASE post more clips.
