I have started the exercises, so I still cannot tell you about the results. But anyway, I'd like to thank you for your kindness and generosity for sharing them with people like me who have respiratory problems. All the best for you and your wonderful daughter.
The key to get rid of asthma is to get fit, if your over weight you need to get into something that can help lose weight, like yoga, regular walking, karate, or anything, just get off your butt, also staying away from things your allergic to. Animals, food. Anything that can make you have an asthma attack, because most things that cause asthma is things that cause asthma attacks or allergies. Zertec is really good for allergies.
I dont seem to have good control of my asthma, so I think my breathing technique is poor. I will use your excersises, and I'll show my daughter them too.
relays on additional resistance that nose provides during fast short sniff. Just an idea - try "slurp" with your lips slightly closed instead of the sniff. I guess it will give a similar resistance. I tried it, it needs some getting used to and finding comfortable level of resistance. Note that this is purely experimental, you are the first
Exercise might change oxigen/CO2 balance because you make breath in when lungs are compressed. This can improve conditions that lead to run-away constriction and eventually unblock it as you keep continuing the exercise.
But the exact mechanism is unknown. I have seen it work with 3 kids - my daughter, my niece and a friends kid. Buy why it works,
see there in lies the problem... i cannot breath through my nose at all.. suffering from allergies as a kid meant i spent a lot of time in hospital with, what i think now was unnecessary surgery which has left me unable to draw enough air in through my nose to breath. This means i always have to draw in through my mouth which isnt an idea situation. My peak flow doent change at all when i have these attacks..
i can still blow between 500-600 on a peak flow meter which is more than most normal people can do..i never use inhalers because it seems stupid to take steroids constantly when my attacks are 4 years apart with no symptoms inbetween. it seems stupid that in this day and age no doctor can tell me what is wrong with me.
also was thinking about what you said about using the excercise to stop the attack when it happens.. is it the exercise doing this or is it the fact that if u focus on doing something else it stops you hyperventilating and therefor calms the attack?
have u ever hear of this before... i am usually fine but since i was 18 ive had severe attacks.. every 4 years... almost to the day... one when i was 18 one at 22 and one a couple of days ago at 26.. the only thing i could thing of is a fungal spore which takes 4 years to cycle but aside from that i can think of nothing... i am at the moment recovering from my last attack and am trying the exercises to see if they can help me.... any info on this would be most welcome
But meanwhile, good thing about the exercise is that with regular use it does two things:
1) develops a bullet-proof habit of nasal breathing, so all allergens have more chance to get filtered in the nose
2) increases the diameter of larger bronch, so even when inflamation does happen, there is still enough space to move air and the run-away mechanism that eventually causes constriction is less likely to start.
I am 20 years old and I am joining the US army in a few months. I have not had an asthma attack in a long time but I am still worried that I may have one during training. You have no idea how thankful I am that you have posted this video. I am beginning the exercises immediately. Hopefully they will help me with it.
Did you try doing Strelnikova exercise regularly every
day for a week or so? A single excercise would already
make you feel better, but to get rid of atacks completely you would need to do it regularly over a period of time that depends on how sever your case is.
It was about 2 weeks for us. Description is in this video
and more details are is in: strelnikova (dot) freehostia (dot) com
Me and my daughter are immensely happy to hear that it was useful for you. For us ourselves it was quite a blessing to find the materials on this excercise in Russian, it made quite a difference - she lives without meds...
I have not much personal experience with severe cases
(although I have helped 3 children so far to stop less severe asthma attacks), but you might want to hear what the main practitioner of Strelnikova exercise Shetinin says about it. Because there is not enough space in the comment, I posted it to Yahoo groups, group strelnikova_exercise. You can find a link to the group from the web-site linked from the text near this video.
Last Saturday morning I had the worst asthma attack. It happened while I was deeply sleep and my Wife helped me out by bringing to me the Inhaler Albuterol. Almost in 2 - 3 seconds I could start breathing again. What can I do to not to panic and have my heart go so fast so quickly?. I'm scared.
Good Luck! It is of cause a difficult case, so regularity of doing the exercise is critical. We are doing it once a day in the evening. There is an immediate effect of warm feeling and breathing becomes easier, but to achieve permanent effects it will take longer time. In case of my daughter she did not have any more attacks after 2 weeks. In entrenched cases it will take longer. Please let us know about your exercise schedule and results.
I see that excercise can help tha is wonderful. Children systems are sensitive. Latex Allergy is a serious-dangerous allery, which can cause Asthm. Nipples, Pacifier, balloons, rubber balls toys some contain latex, create proble. I wrote book Latex Is Not My Friend" explsin latex allery on You Tube
We are trying to avoid anything that is dusty. Latex is once if it. But my daughter is likely allergic to certain flowers. Specially in spring when in Texas every plant that exsists in the world is
flowering like crazy we are under stress. However, doing exercise every day prevents an actual attack, worst that she would get now is some congestion, running nose etc.
I have started the exercises, so I still cannot tell you about the results. But anyway, I'd like to thank you for your kindness and generosity for sharing them with people like me who have respiratory problems. All the best for you and your wonderful daughter.

Thanks for sharing these techniques in English! Fantastic things have been developed in Russia that often are never heard about in the west.

My friend from Russia suggested me to try the exercises she said it helped her very much.

If you can't breath through the nose,
you would need to modify the exercise because it
relays on additional resistance that nose provides during fast short sniff. Just an idea - try "slurp" with your lips slightly closed instead of the sniff. I guess it will give a similar resistance. I tried it, it needs some getting used to and finding comfortable level of resistance. Note that this is purely experimental, you are the first
person in the world who would try this.

I don't know for sure. I am also not sure how
effective it is with a severe attack, so keep
your inhaler with bronchodilators ready.

I don't mean inhaler for steroids, i meant inhaler with bronchodilators which are used during the attack to stop it, for example Albuterol.

It is always hard to find the exact allergen,
so keep trying.
But meanwhile, good thing about the exercise is that with regular use it does two things:
