I usually buy mine from random shops like I get my skinny jeans from primark and my black shirts from anywhere that sells them :p my ruffle shirts I get from goth websites :) where do you get yours from hun?
Well I sometimes go on shopping trips to Camden ^_^ And buy one or two pieces there. Basics I get from random shops like you :) Like my jeans are from Dorothy Perkins :) The black tops I wear under my T-shirts tend to come from places like Primark etc. Proper goth stuff comes from online websites like Drac-In-A-Box or Blackrose :) I'll Pm you coz I think we're spamming and I don't wanna be burnt :P
I find alternative fashion ever so interesting don't you? Especially goth :P May i ask where do you get your clothes? :) Maybe change where i get my clothes from :P
More info is on the website. Just type in Whitby goth weekend and it is the 2nd website :) You'll love it ^_^ Whitby is good on a normal day, I can only imagine what the actual weekend will be like ^_^ Oh i can't wait! Haha i'm sorry excited sorry. Already putting my outfit together :P Only place where i can dress to the nines :)
we have a goth nightclub here in Edinburgh called Ascension only thing ism its only on once a month :( i may go to the halloween one, gives me more time to get my outfits together and bought lol.
Oh that sounds nice :) Shame it is only once a month :( May i be annoyingly nosey...I know it is not my business, don't feel pressured to answer but...What style of goth do you tend to lean towards? ^_^ Not that it makes any differences or matters but I'm ever so interested in the fashion of Goth ^_^
i like a bit of everything, i like to mix it up a bit. for instance, i am currently looking to get a black tailcoat to go with my white ruffle shirt, but i also just like wearing a simple black shirt and either a red or black tie oh oh or my dancing skeleton tie ^_^ them together with skinny jeans and my knee high new rocks :) would you mind if i rallied the question to yourself? :)
Oh lovely ^_^ Hehe the tie sounds adorable! ^_^ Oh and the shirt :) And new rocks! Lucky :P
Of course I don't mind dear :)
My style? Well I like to mix and match like yourself :) I live in a small town so i have to tone down the look a bit :( But on a normal day it is black velvet, Doc martens,Long skirts, Knee length skirts, Chokers :) On a very casual day it is just jeans and a t-shirt. It is so boring >.<
At places such as Whitby,Glastonbury,Camden and indoors i dress to the Gothic nines :) I would dress Lolita but I'm poor :P So it's either plain Victorian or Goth Lolita. I pick the one i love more, Victorian :P So at places mentioned above, Its top hats, full skirts, Shirts, Parasols ^_^ My favorite!
Oh wow :) I saw this really nice cane with a skull made of crystals on the top :) May i ask, What do you do with your hair? Any fancy back combing? :)
I agree with his last sentence. Goth is somewhere where anyone who feels left out is automatically welcomed, and really, that's the best definition of goth I've yet heard. It's all about acceptance. The aesthetic and music is part of it and where it began respectively, but acceptance is what it's all about.
@kelalascool er yes they do, the info bit says "From October 2006 Whitby Gothic Weekend, Whitby, UK" the UK is a country. If you want to find the location of Whitby, type it into google maps.
I was bullied mercilessly at school. People used to trip me up and slam doors into me and stuff. I was sexually assaulted because I was a little more sexually mature than the other girls. That is probably the reason I'm a goth. And the AWESOME music!
@gravebat It is held twice a year during the last weekends of April and October... April is typically a bit quieter in comparison to October.... October is mad-packed with goths.....
what he shuld really do if he wants to see what its like to be goth is keep the clothes on after the festival and experience the shit most alternative people go through when their just trying to walk round town or chill out in a park....
I can sympathize with the goth woman with the red dreds. I became a goth when I was 17 and my parents still sort of think it's a phase and I've tried to convince them that its not exactly a "youth thing" and there are goths who are over 30 or 40 and I currently 21.
I live in the U.S. and in the Coachella Valley at that, and if I saw the majority of students on campus dressing like cybergoths, romantic goths, punks, and trad goths, I'd probably pass out and probably die and go to heaven for a moment or two. Its times like this I wish I was born in the UK.
I was bullied and hurt too, it changed the way I saw everything. The media doesn't know goth and never will, I'm so happy to see these goths speaking the truth about the misunderstood community.
I didn't know there were that many Goths out there! Thanks for putting this vid up because I no longer feel alone in being individual if that makes sense...
"Goth was an 80s fad?" The whole goth idea is older than the 80s, it just had different name.
I love the theatricality of it. I've dressed like that several times. It's liberating because you can become someone else, like you're character acting.
The thing about counter-cultures is they're not vastly different from the "normal" culture they deviate from. In a way they're slaves to fashion same as anybody else; psuedo-individuality. Slightly different beliefs from most people but nothing major.
i love goth! the legitimate style (like how the interviewer had his hair and dress, but sans the mouth makeup) is totally hot! not to mention the music is the best and the lifestyle is so liberating!
I go to Goth weekends. And this video has good music in it!. Oh and i stayed in the same B&B as the woman who they interview at first in the B&B. and i saw the black guy there too in april!

What an interesting place whitby is.And what colour the goths bring in to this simple town er well black.I think that all the goths in the world should visit whitby. And when they are all in one place.......Bomb it....i left whitby because they scared my kids..and why do people use cure songs when goths are involved..Robert smith would also agree im sure!!!
So you want to bomb out an entire subculture thus creating a mass murder just so people that it can rebuild it again, and have one less town to be on this earth along with you in jail? I don't believe your childen would be very happy that way either, and it's not the goth's fault your children are afriad of them either. It's hard to believe people stereotype goths as murderers, when there's people like YOU that want to commit a bombing. Think before you speak mokubi1982.
Well, maybe they use The Cure's songs, because they used to be a goth band (first 3 or 4 albums) and they are still one of the favourite bands among the gothic subculture. That is to answer your question and I'm not going to reply to the rest of your comment as it would lead to nowhere.
Yeah right used to be a 'goth'band there is no such music as goth music. Its just different types of music that goths like.I have never seen in any music store or web site that says goth section this way.Robert smith refused to play whitby because he didnt want to be associated with goths FACT.Goths are just uncool nerds that were bullied at school and want somewhere to belong to be part of something.sorry i just get pissed when goths claim bands to be goth music as aposed to music liked by goths
Killing joke is goth, jesus lizard are goth NIN are goth Ministry are goth throbing grizzle are goth etc iv heard all this before.Mods are the same mod music the who and the likes.its just rock
Actually, yes, there is a genre called gothic rock and a genre called deathrock. Find something about it on the internet and see for yourself. Another thing, Robert Smith claims they are not a goth band, which is true, because they released albums of various genres and he thinks it's limiting to label their band. I just simply stated that their first albums contained mainly goth rock songs.
I've been in a fair few music shops with 'goth' as a section. Sure you won't find a goth section in HMV or zavvi, but in the specialised music stores a goth section is not uncommon. xx

How far do you take it...Different breeds of goth honestly it makes me laugh...Goths are the genre of which everything else is its sub genre.I think you want to take your un founded comments and jump off a cliff..Just stick to the style and leave the music to someone who knows what there on about..And thats in reference to Hardcore...What straight edge is goth aswell..Indie...stoner....electro...Goth is the center of the universe yeah wow i didnt know that!!!
while i wouldn;t consider emo to be anything to do with goth, I agree with the rest. i'm also quite proud that goth itself has branched out into its own subgenres to become even more individual and personal. :) xx
both forms of deathrock are great, the pre-goth era, known as dark punk, and the goth era of deathrockers inspired by bands such as the damned, sex gang children,
i prefer gothic rock and darkwave myself, so my knowledge of deathrock isnt that extensive
yeah, post-punk, darkwave, deathrock, horrorpunk, gothic rock thier all part of goth
none of this industrial stuff is though
horrorpunk used to conect to goth, however modern bands like wednesday 13, may be horrorpunk, but they've lost thier connection to goth, still, doesnt mean they dont still make good music, its just no connection to goth anymore
eclipse4darness, I know how you feel love, I'm dealing with the same problem. Just try to ease them into it, once they're a little more used to it they won't even notice or care anymore, this worked for my friend anyway.
I'm lucky...in leeds there are tonnes of goth events. But when I'm just out shopping I'll dress casually but keep elements of goth/industrial/fetish in subtle ways, like a latex wristband or some PVC shoes. ;) x
How fantastic. It's great to see Goth respected as a culture rather than dismissed as a ridiculous teenage fad, and have some genuinely lovely things said about it. I fell into the scene somewhat by accident because I just loved to dress the way I do, and was very attracted to dark things. So it's great to see it portrayed in a decent light for once.
I'm hoping I can go in October... if I am, I shall be planning my costume by June. xD
I wish I could go!

"hardcore" and emo have absolutely nothing to do with it!
Suspended7DusK 2 years ago 4
I know it it has nothing to do with that. their different Breeds of goth.... is what I'm saying, Some people don't know that...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
How far do you take it...Different breeds of goth honestly it makes me laugh...Goths are the genre of which everything else is its sub genre.I think you want to take your un founded comments and jump off a cliff..Just stick to the style and leave the music to someone who knows what there on about..And thats in reference to Hardcore...What straight edge is goth aswell..Indie...stoner....electro...Goth is the center of the universe yeah wow i didnt know that!!!

while i wouldn;t consider emo to be anything to do with goth, I agree with the rest. i'm also quite proud that goth itself has branched out into its own subgenres to become even more individual and personal. :) xx

goth isnt a life style, its a sub-culture
just like punkand cyber, hardcore, vamp, emo and industrial ARE NOT GOTH
there are and only ever have been 3 types of goth
deathrockers- post punk goth rockers, look more like dark punks
goth rock - sparked from bands like bauhaus and sisters of mercy, most goths from this gen like the victorianesque dress style
Darkwavers, or Gravers - the goths that follow music like clan of xymox and other darkwave bands,

both forms of deathrock are great, the pre-goth era, known as dark punk, and the goth era of deathrockers inspired by bands such as the damned, sex gang children,
i prefer gothic rock and darkwave myself, so my knowledge of deathrock isnt that extensive

yeah, post-punk, darkwave, deathrock, horrorpunk, gothic rock thier all part of goth
none of this industrial stuff is though
horrorpunk used to conect to goth, however modern bands like wednesday 13, may be horrorpunk, but they've lost thier connection to goth, still, doesnt mean they dont still make good music, its just no connection to goth anymore

i love goths and i consider myself goth but i dont dress like dat cuz my parents r in denial of who i am :'(

eclipse4darness, I know how you feel love, I'm dealing with the same problem. Just try to ease them into it, once they're a little more used to it they won't even notice or care anymore, this worked for my friend anyway.

I'm lucky...in leeds there are tonnes of goth events. But when I'm just out shopping I'll dress casually but keep elements of goth/industrial/fetish in subtle ways, like a latex wristband or some PVC shoes. ;) x

Great Video - deeply regret dropping out of the scene.

I'm hoping I can go in October... if I am, I shall be planning my costume by June. xD

This is good. It's also good to see a black goth and other ethnic goths sometimes. Yep..
