  • My parents almost named me Madeline. I think that Madeline is my split personality who is sad/angry she only exists inside of me and that I am the living one. O_o

  • how can people see all these pictures of angels, and associate this genre with "paganistic satanism or dark ambiance"

  • @rbmaserang this is basically dark ambiance, just more neo-classical.

  • Angels tired of suffering...

  • Oh my, I love this piece and the fact that it's my name kinda makes it feel personalized in a creepy way, hehe...like there should be something I'm lamenting about.

  • Gracias por tu inspiración. Realmente es una obra de arte lo que hiciste.

  • I am faceless, shapeless, nameless, mute, deaf, blind, forgotten. Yet, even so, I am safe, cradled in my thoughts like a newborn child. Elated. - Love, Spite

  • the angel had been denied her love; her lover had been human and had all to quickly received death's soothing cold inbrace. She has waited for him to be reborn to her. It has taken an eterity of 200 years. but finally the pure sad angel finally gets her wish and is with him again. But he can no longer remeber her and turns her down; going after another human women instead. leaving the angel in the dust with her broken heart.

  • i think i heard this song before..but when? or where?

  • ..with this song i can feel the sorrow of living and the happiness that lies within death.

  • I love this group and now I love this song.

  • perfect¡¡ i love the dark pictures once more EDGAR ALLAN POE¡¡

  • In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines ...

  • why do angels mourn if you are to join them

  • woah ... this is in my borough? I need to check out this cemetery :O

  • cant sleep now to freaked out...LOVE it!

  • Ah this would be perfect for my personal project im doing - I'm in the beginning stages of creating a short movie based on a beautiful girl dancing at night in a graveyard blanketed in snow. I need the right music for the dance and I think this should be perfect.....

TO all who want to see it, when I have a camera and get it, I will post it! Plus there will be a poem or story or something along with it. I hope anyone in the Gothic community will enjoy it!

  • i`m kind of scared now because i`m not used with their songs yet and i feel that i will be alone again if i turn off the light....

  • To me, it's the saddest one of theirs.. And so beautiful.

  • It's true when they say music is a powerful thing.

It lifts one's mind and soul and opens the depths of your heart.

  • Que Maravilla!! que hermosos Angeles! Excelente Coleccion de fotografias... y muy buena la cancion como siempre Nox Arcana

  • 0:36 awesome picture, i love angels...and this music is full of sorrow

  • Simply beautiful... Many thanks

  • Lamentations are often sung in the Scholomance choir. Some students have lost those who were close to them and they gain strong spiritual attunements with their souls. It is considered a fine art, like Solitude.

  • nuito bom

  • Im starting to love all of their songs!!!

  • The interesting thing about this song: It sounds deceptively easy. It's actually quite difficult to play on the piano. A lot of tricky coordinations between the hands.

It sounds no less beautiful for that, though.

  • GREAT VIDEO :)))

  • This song is beautiful..

  • majestic music that, together with the images, transports us to another dimension

  • it's such a lonely sounding piece. like there's just desolation and silence for the entire expanse of eternity before you. untouched and untouchable. ancient yet somehow pristine like it's new.

  • Beautiful work !

    Nice song !

    Thank you for posting

  • edgat allan poe s pic at the begining

  • pretty picture..great video

  • My name is Madeline :)

God this is such a beautiful song!

  • death,life......beutiful music

  • You know you are a romantic when you see passion in death

  • One of the best from Shadow of the Raven

  • I love this song, but I gotta say for me Annabel Lee is the best. Definently. <3

  • Annabel Lee is good, also.

  • This is really pretty!

  • i never understood how they make tht ghostly sound at 00:05 can somone explain it to me. i have noticed it in alot of there songs and i am just curious.

  • it's a sample of a choir. Lots of reverb as effect too. And it's mapped over the keyboard so it can played with different pitch at around 0:11 and 0:16 ...

  • this is so magnificent...sad but...i dont know how to explain it...well lets just leave it at that shall we...love this song and vid...lovely

  • great to hear on Halloween!

  • i cried at this song:(

  • Superb !

  • i like this song

  • The awesomeness of this song fractures my mind. The darkness slowly creeping up on my conciousness.

  • beautiful images of provocative statues with music that allows us entry into this haunting place.

  • Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

    And absolute, stunning piece.

Nox Arcana, make me explore, my darker side of the mind. Wonderful video by the way.

  • @honeybeebunny

    darker side of ur mind!!!!!!!!

dont think that Nox Arcan's aim' is doin that.....

  • i don't know what i can say..

    because nothing can it express!!

it is indescribable .. a perfect video! 1000 thanks for this!!

  • Why does the music chop off at the end? Is there a longer version.? It's beautiful except for the abrupt ending.

  • Divine death.

  • The sight of those angels, and the haunting, yet soothing melody really sends a chill up my spine. It reminds me of people who i knew before they passed away :'(

  • 5 *****

  • What I love about this song is, is that its so warm and comfy, yet cold and distant. Like you feel the persons pain, but don't know how to comfort them.

  • It reminds me of the music of Zekkmaaik. So beautiful...

  • Beautiful. This song really is amazing.

  • sooo beautiful!!!! love the musik.. thanks for show..!!

    greetings from germany.. :))

  • "Don't blink, don't even blink! Blink and you're dead. They're fast, faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink! Good Luck."

    BEWARE THE WEEPING ANGELS

  • ooohh.... tres belle perle noire!! merci!!

  • potremmo essere noi.res

  • Quality music that is dark improves the mind in such a way, a darkness controls your motives and spirit. Inspiring yes.....I suppose...muahahahaha.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Beautiful !

  • So dark, so beautiful

  • Immagine this magnified by 100...that is the pain of loosing a child...

  • It's also the pain of losing a mother. I know that too well.

  • me too

  • my personal take is that it's like this sheer pang you get when your concience gets to you after killing or hurting someone or something, it's like this "what have i done?!" feeling

  • obviously, the great thing about music is that it means something different to everyone, but i believe what nox arcana was thinking of when they wrote this song was something a bit different. i'm pretty sure madeline refers to madeline roderick, a character in the fall of the house of usher who fell very ill before being buried alive. not that your interpretation doesnt work just as well.

  • I was crushed. Then I found this song. .. picked a brush and dunked it into a colour.

The brush drew lines and I expressed the feelings I had ..

They were dark, but still, every feeling is beautiful, right?

  • Usher

  • Love cemeteries :X love the song!!!

  • Great song. So haunting.

  • I really hate it when people say that goth is evil and satanic. Goth is beautiful and I'm glad that Nox Arcana became to show just that.

  • I completely agree. The sadness and "creepyness" just reminds us that the world is sad and unfair, but that we just have to live with it. Praise to Nox Arcana

  • Ditto here. My opinion onwhat Goth is is being able to see your darker side, yet being able to understand and embrace it. People who claim it is something evil have no understanding of the many gray areas in our supposedly black and white world of ideals.

  • yeh there is by far more to goth/gothic then other people can understand huge history behind it

  • Exactly! It's not saying that death or murder or sin is a good thing, but it's embracing the beauty in sadness, as well as mourning the loss of the goodness in the human spirit.

  • Their music allows us to see the beauty in the darker aspects of the soul and the world, while not emphasizing evil. Truly the best Gothic music I have ever heard has been by Nox Arcana.

  • I discoverded their music while i was in a goth blog. nox arcana was in the blog´s owner playlist and i loved it x)

  • I also disocovered Nox Arcana by accident, and it's right up there with Immediate Music and X-Ray Dog, but different, darker, more gothic.

    Beautiful.

  • This is insane.

You mean other people have been artistically inspired by this music as well?

Then it is a self-replicating masterpiece.

    Just beautiful.

  • Same goes for me... their songs tune into my stories and makes it easier to write about that particular feeling I want in that chapter.

So soothing, yet disturbing. So emotional and inspiring

  • Discovered them by accident when 'Pandora's Music Box' showed up in the recommended list. ^_^ truly excellent music, and they inspire a lot of ideas for my stories.

  • their gothicness is kinda metaphysical.. i mean its something beyond..

  • I use Nox Arcana alot for my short stories as well as, Midnight Syndicate. Very inspirational.

  • Haunting.

    Nicely done.

  • I have a character who would totally fit to this song :0

I love Nox Arcana :D This song is beautiful. I want to meet them and shake their hands for always doing such an amazing job . . .

  • me too. I wish they were more known. I discovered them on youtube by an "accident". A happy accident:)

  • I wish they were, too! They're always an inspiration for me when I'm writing. They work really hard, too . . .

I can't remember where I found them. iTunes, I think, when I was looking for trailer music . . .

  • I found them here on youtube. And I got really excited cause I love their dark and sad melodies.. It's music to my ears and it's helping me to write as well. They are very inspirational:)

  • I had a similar serendipity. I was looking at HP Lovecraft related videos, and their music was featured in one of them.

Since Then I've used them as a soundtrack for reading, writing, and relaxing^_^

  • Yeah it's like their music fit to everything. I easpecially love to listen to them while reading an exciting book or trying to make up my own music. Their music is simply perfect:)

  • i discovered them too accidentally..

  • I discovered these through a RPG site that offered links to sites that sold background ambience music for playing sessions. Certainly fits a more gothic or ominous dungeon setting.

  • yes... indeed this piece is very profound. These images are,to say the least, huanting.Dont look at them too long... wait a second... whats behind you right now??? ! heh well it can get spooky :)

  • I love this song. It's so beautiful and haunting!

  • I like the ghostly howlings in this music and the piano is so beautiful and sad. I discovered Nox Arcana first time last year and I'm glad I did. They're awesome!

  • this song is being played at my funeral

  • hehehehe thats pretty morbid but i get yah, i played lenore at my friends funeral

  • Thank Nox Arcana

  • i like nox arcana more >D

  • Madeline's lament is a reference to The Fall of the House of Usher character, Madeline Usher. So, Pale0Enchantress, your mom was wrong.

  • lament means to cry out in pain or something like that and at the end of the fall of the house of usher right before madeline dies, she cries and yells out about how bad her life is or something like that

  • iam sorry for this band that somebody like bushido steals the melody and makes a rapsong of it ;__;

  • love it!!

  • genial!!!! ooohhhh no pense escuchar algo asi !!!!

    es muy bueno!!!

    aaaaa morire!!!

  • Valhalla waits

    So Choose Thy Fate

For All Of Us Must Die

  • I'm trying to think of the Poe work that this is derived from... can anyone tell me?

  • love the song, but madeline is not a character I remember from Poe's works. Who was she? I asked my mom who loves poe and she said she was one of the murder victims of the rue morgue story.

  • great! well done! I love Nox Arcana! ;D

  • Very nice! This makes me excited for Halloween! = )

  • Kick ass! Thanks so much for using my photos. Great job. Shadow of the Raven, is Nox Arcana's best album.
