@misterownage1 I'm sorry I can't. I retired from the Army and have moved from that house. I don't have anywhere in my new house to build a nice large layout, so right now all my trains are in boxes, except for the small loop I have under the Christmas tree.
@jhenshey so even if you dont have much space dosent mean you cant build a layout esiegel76 has a big layout but he made more room bye cutting through his walls
@trainengineerpilot Thanks for your kind comments. Mike's Train House locomotives are known for their plentiful smoke generation. The control system is DCS, which is very similar to DCC, but remember this is 3 rail O-gauge. DCC is for 2 rail systems.
@pyronathanpyro The scale is "O" 1:48, which is twice the size of HO. The smoke units are installed at the factory during production. These particular locomotives are made by Mikes Train House, a.k.a. MTH.
Diamond, You must be too young to remember the feel of a living breathing steam engine. There are a few remaining in service, mostly on tourist runs. Also, you are dead wrong about the pulling power of these monsters. UP typically uses no less than 5 modern engines to replace the old 4-8-8-4 Big Boys on the Sherman hill run. The big boy could pull it alone and run 60 MPH on the flat.
I work with n scale and I love it. O scale is good too, I used to have an O scale layout, but that got scratched and work started in HO. Then it got trashed and then all the way down to N scale. I am on the procces of redoing my n scale layout.
hey you should get some freightliner or gbrf trains to pull the freight not the steam i would go with freightliner it has more strength and pulls loads more than a steam engine
Very nice layout. I like your trackplan and it will look very nice when up on a table and you can look at it at eye level. I see that you mention having just retired from the US Army. Thank you for your service to our country.
I love Scale Trax, but it can be hard to get some of the pieces. I don't know why it didn't catch on more quickly, it is by far the most realist looking 3rail track you can buy. But, because of low demand, MTH hasn't produced it in the quantities to make it as readily available as the others.
Ive never used Scale trax, more a fan of marklin. My dad has given me thousands of ponds of trians, and housands of track. So dont think ill be canging, how much dos Scale Trax cost tho?
I have both Lionel and MTH and I can tell you that the only thing Lionel has that is better than MTH is sound quality. If you compare all aspects of the models, you will find that the details are the same, but the main difference is the operating systems (i.e. DCS vs. TMCC). When you compare the features of DCS and TMCC II, the list of features and controlability of DCS is far superior to Legacy. Examples: DCS controls TMCC engines, DCS lashes up with TMCC engines, the list goes on.
Trains can now be controled by a command control system. This means that there is a computer chip in each locomotive, the track voltage is set to a constant 18 volts and the computer chip tells the locomotive how much of that voltage to use.
Engines you don't tell to run, sit still while the one you want, runs. The two systems available for 3 rail O gauge are DCS by Mikes Train House (MTH) and TMCC by Lionel.
I use MTH smoke fluid. It is relatively inexpensive and since most of my locomotives are made by MTH, I figure I can't go wrong by using their smoke fluid.
The track plan was in a space about 25 X 30. I would like to post more videos, but it has all been taken apart and put in storage. I retired from the Army and I'm in the process of moving. When I get to building it permanent, I'll post more.

I prefer steam over Diesels anyday, "motorized boxcars don't belong on my layout"

more people get MTH because it is cheaper because it isn't as good as lionel.
trainman932 3 years ago
Look at the new MTH Triplex and N&W J that just came out. It's features are just as good, if not better than any lionel Locomotive EVER MADE!
pickerel101 3 years ago
If everyone gets MTH, did you ever think maybe Lionel's aren't better?
jhenshey 3 years ago
why does every one get MTH when lionel has the same engines but they are better.

I am sort of new to train collecting, so I need to know how you have two trains on connected track at the same time without them both running?
