This is the most beautiful singing of "Blessed Assurance" I have ever heard!! I love to listen to this video EVERY DAY!! Thank you for providing such a blessing for so many to hear!! God bless you!!
Beautiful song, beautiful harmony from the choir! Voices singing together for God is always a blessing to hear!! Thank you for such a wonderful presentation of Blessed Assurance!! God bless you!!
Not only is Woods an exact replica of Nicks.....but for as much as some are so quick to point out the myriad of great directors Detroit is known for......J.D. was truly in a clas ALL BY HIMSELF! There will NEVER BE ANOTHER DIRECTOR DEAD OF ALIVE THAT WILL EVER COMMAND A CHOIR WITH THE SHEER GRACE AND PROFESSIONALISM THAT J.D. DID! REST IN PEACE, J.D.!
There is no match for this. None. Take all of the rest of todays music and make them set down and listen to who we once were in our churches and music.
This is Holy Ghost. That choir. Oh my God. Bring it back. Please.
Now this is gospel music is about. I miss those good ole days of good choir singing. I grew up listening to Rev Charles Nicks and St. James. I wish we could get some of this good music again in our churches...SOMETIMES.
I have played this video every day since I found it. This song was one of my Mother's favorite songs. She could not sing, but would hum this song and Great Is Thy Faithfulness. Now that I am older, I understand the meaning of the words to her. Thank you so very much for exposing this choir and the music all around the world. May God's richest blessings be yours.
You are such a blessing to share all these wonderful songs of the "real" church. My soul is so happy to be a part of the St James experience via this portal.
I have to be careful and not get to praising to loud up in here, my neighbors will think somebody killin me in here cause they don't know what it's all about. Thank God for you child. From a Granny in Texas
After reading the many comments, I must agree. The choir is working it and there's no other that I have hear that can. St. James knew how to put the icing on the cake. Priase GOD for his anionting that abides in his people. Sing on Choir.
I could not agree with you more; I've never heard anything like this in my life! This is simply amazing. The choir is on JD like white on rice! By far the greatest director Detroit has ever known! No slight to anyone else, but JD was in a class all by himself! God bless his memory!!
God! Oh how I miss that awesome sound!!! My, My!!! This was when Gospel music was REAL Gospel Music!!! Something that would last way up to next Sunday inside your soul on your job!
Woods has that organ, walking, talking, wimpering, whining, squalling and wailing all at the same time! And to look at him play, it would seem as though he's casually sitting watching tv. I'm not buying it, Woods! You KNOW you're beating the daylights out of that Hammond!....:)
He's walking that organ all up and down Van Dyke! This concert may have began at 13600 Van Dyke, but when it was all over, rest assured that organ was nowhere in sight!! OMG!!!!!
no that's Bishop Andre Sonny Woods playing!! if i remember correctly Sidney plays for Wings Of Love Baptist Church in Detroit. i do know that he also helps out at Historic St. James.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
