No, that is what ICE is for. The "Border Patrol" does not have patrolling duties outside of a "narrow" border zone on the North side of the USA border.. So, while EPPD does patrol and have jurisdiction in parts of EP, they do not replace the law enforcement duties of EPPD. Oddly, ICE is pretty thin in El Paso, despite the number of violent crimes in the area.. Also, ICE is not there to investigate crime by Illegals, other than immigration crimes.

They only went to say that he could have avoided it. The cop was also reprimanded and lost 2 stripes. I am sure that having his pay scale knocked down to Rookie (What's that, about $20,000-$30,000 per year) was punishment.
This cop has a bad reputation for being out of control and has cost the City of El Paso over $400,000 in Lawsuits. Fucking Unions and that he is a minority are the only reason he wasn't working as a Mall Cop that year.

ok it took two warnings before the guys started to leave probably even more....but the bottom line is that they were walking back to the truck when THE COP decides to jump the fence and use threats and scare tactics to intimidate and then arrest the reporter because he was "talking back" very unproffesional a cop should show more restraint in this situation....regardless of how many encounters before it lead to this the cop chose an unproffesional time to chase and arrest these men..

I used to live in El Paso from 1975 to 2005
and I wanted to be a Police Officer, I even went on several ride along. Then I really saw the abuse of power they have towards citizens, and towards State property. I even got to know a few of them on personal bases when I would catch them in the act. Even knew where they would hang out and tell their personal stories from work. Personally they should be ashamed of what they do and how.
