I have researched vampires and werewolves in fiction, historically speaking, not twilight and shit. A vampire can take any form of creatures of the night, this includes bats of course, rats, even fog, and yes, a wolf, therefore vampires suffer both being Nosferatu and holding lycanthropy, meaning metamorphism, not necessarily werewolves alone. Also, it is told that you must sever a werewolves head, for after death they resurrect as vampires, therefore there are no winners and no losers. :)
