I watched my brothers play this game as a little kid (I was only 7 so I was kinda too young to really PLAY the game). They got to the very end but my cousin accidentally deleted their save! After that, they stopped playing Dark Cloud...but one summer when I was 15, I got so bored I decided to pop Dark Cloud in to finally finish what my brothers started 8 years ago...Maybe it's sad, but finally defeating the Genie by myself was one of THE MOST REWARDING things I've ever done in my life....

There was something that was just special about DC, sure the game was kinda repetitive (almost every level was the same layout, you did the same thing over and over again etc.) and sure repairing your weapon every 10 minutes was a bitch....but there was something about it....maybe it was the setting or the music but something was almost...magical about it...something that just kept me coming back and back time after time again. This is the first Ps2 game I ever had and I will never forget it...

Jeez, I remember the first time I ever played this game, I think it was Thanksgiving 2001 the first time that my brothers brought it home. This takes me back to whenever the PS2 was new and amazing. All the games from that era make me think of my childhood. I'm elated that I was able to grow up in that generation of great video games, but it almost makes me sad to see what video games are turning into now a days. Dark Cloud will forever be one of the last truly amazing video games in my eyes.

Depth, storyline, time to play, amount of extras, minigames, even after finishing the game you have a 100 floor dungeon and a new weapon to obtain, upgrading all the weapons and finding all objects, then you had making sure all the NPCs were in the right place in their village to get even more bonus stuff.

I remember getting this game with my ps2 in 2002 and not at all knowing what the hell to do :D now, having played a LOT of jrpgs, both older and newer i revisted the game later and was like "ok, do this this, ok, wait, water, thats neat, keep that in mind, do this, why was this so hard before" XD old games that were hard when you were a kid :D

@gaurdian3012 i remember being stuck, i couldn't figure out how to beat the first boss (the dragon thingy (sorry i forgot your name - don't hate me)) and i just kept farming the first few floors to build up my weapons and get stuff, then when i figured out you could shoot it down i killed it in one hit with my sword... that's how powerful it had gotten O.o (had like 999 kills on first floor) and i had like the sword just before the 7th haven (i had build it up from a bone rapier xD)
