Tom Landry and that era of the Cowboys organization would have never been caught in that situation because those types of words werent even said behind closed doors, Landry was a class act. And Clint Murchinson was the Owner, he didnt pretend to be a football guy. He left that to the genius of Tom Landry and the marketing genius Tex Schramm, who BUILT the Cowboys. Jones is an embarresment to the Cowboys brand - no matter how many Super Bowls he pays for.

I'm not sure the Cowboys under Landry conducted themselves that much better( Hollywood Henderson doing coke in the locker room comes to mind). The media is just greater now than it was in the 1970's so you can't get away with as much. Also lets give credit where credit is due: Jerry Jones was VERY instrumental in reviving the Cowboys in the early 1990's. Now his ego has certainly gotten in the way in recent years. But the man is winner, even if he never wins another Super Bowl.

The man commenting is absolutely correct about Landry and Murchison. They were both class acts. Murchison never got involved in football decisions. In fact, when I was growing up watching the Cowboys in that era, I wouldn't have recognized him if I saw him walking down the street because he shunned the limelight.
