An orca, whether born in or out of captivity, understands that it belongs in the ocean, not some tank. Sadly, we can not release captive whales, because they do not have the know how to thrive in the wild. Instinct gives only a basic knowledge, the rest is up to learning.

Yes, they were doing what whales do....acting wild. But if you look into this more all of the attacks that have happened were because the whale itself was sick...not because Sea world was hurting it. I agree with everyone 100% that these beautiful animals belong in the wild, but whose to say that it was her fault? That's what she loved to do, which was to train these majestic creatures. Instead of killing it, just set it free. Yeah, going into an untamed habitat from a tamed habitat could kill it. But at least it would be in it's habitat, instead of forced by people. Either way it's awful. SeaWorld should take some responsibility, not just pin it on a KILLER whale. Hence the word "killer". Again, prayers go out.

Sperm whales, Blue whales, Right whales, Humpbacks, dolphins, etc. don't attack on shore. So the one that has been known to attack seals on shore developed the reputation as a "killer." We should call them Orcas, but I'm just saying it makes sense that they were/are referred to as "killer whales."

The good life my arse, they are reduced to live in a tank twice there size mostly in solitude, with no freedom and no escape. I agree with everyone 100% that these beautiful animals belong in the wild, but whose to say that it was her fault? That's what she loved to do, which was to train these majestic creatures. personally, i highly doubt that the whale jumped into the air and grabbed the trainer by the waist. it is said that she slipped and fell into the water, and the whale then grabbed her. i really do feel bad for these whales. not only do they not have enough space and stimulation, but the public now sees them as evil and vile creatures. why do these animals have to perform to make us love them? if an animal must be in captivity then they should be allowed to be as natural as possible.

Yes, these animals have sheltered lives, but they also have VERY pampered lives. Dogs& cats have injurred 50 billion times more people than all the animals at sea world combined, and yet we keep them as pets when they too came from the wild. @saffron91 You are away Saffron that the whales get fed regardless if they do a correct behaviour or a wrong one, to teach a wrong one they will wait roughly 30 seconds before giving the orca its food, or they wont get a rub down or a whistle blow to let the orca know its done an incorrect behvaiour. I'd suggest you learn your facts before coming onto youtube and making comments like that.

My prayers go out to her family and it's a horrible tragedy. However, the trainers know what they are getting themselves into. I don't think they should kill it. Instead of killing it, just set it free. Yeah, going into an untamed habitat from a tamed habitat could kill it. But at least it would be in it's habitat, instead of forced by people. Either way it's awful. SeaWorld should take some responsibility, not just pin it on a KILLER whale. Hence the word "killer". Again, prayers go out.
