  • But even so, it doesn't mean folks should down play or trivialize the relationship he had with Angela.

    ^^^@tgbh, I agree.

  • And yes, before it's mentioned again...."other" women were indeed attracted to George and vice versa. Afterall, he was a man. A man locked away deprived of sex. But even so, it doesn't mean folks should down play or trivialize the relationship he had with Angela.

  • Their "marriage" is actually mentioned in Huey's Newton's "Revolutionary Suicide." George said they were married in a letter he wrote Huey; and Angela often referred to herself as his wife in letters written to George. The prosecution in Angela's trial tried to use this fact to prove Angela conspired with Jonathan to rescue his brother from prison due to her being madly in love with him (George). Despite this however, no they were not legally married to each other.

  • ....and not only that, I've read both Soledad Brother and Blood in my Eye and in no way, shape, or form do both books mention directly nor even imply that George and Angela were secretly married. Where are the legal documents stating that they were in fact married? Although they both referenced each other as husband and wife it doesn't necessarily mean that they were in fact married. Then again it doesn't necessrily mean that they weren't. Who knows either way.

  • Since both Angela and George were unable to actually interact on a personal basis, and I mean an interaction in which both would have on the outside without restriction, how is it possible to determine what the nature of their relationship was? Though some may think of it as beautiful, or even unrealistic, it'll never been known how they would've fared together on the outside....

  • The advertisements are a reminder for why capitalism must be smashed!

  • George and Angela were secretly married.

If you read Soledad Brother or BIME you would know this.

  • Power to the People=Black is Beautiful!!!!

  • @andrewnorris1 ya deal with it, fuck the dignity thats what remotes are for-2 ff...or click a mouse, ciao

  • @flyinghotwing Man, you are so boring.

  • @andrewnorris1 good look

  • go raiders! i think george could have played for them.

  • George had been deprived of women in general; so therefore it couldn't have been strictly Angela he was attracted to as Elaine Brown was also an object of his affection and attraction.

  • @DaniIvy Yes, that is ashamed that he was deprived of women. Though I think Angela is lesbian.

  • @AutopsyReport22 Yes, she supposedly is, Although I think she was briefly married to a man in the ealry 80's. So, maybe she's bi? Whatever the case, I still think her romance with George was a Beautiful one. I sure wish the BOTH them could have been freed.

  • @Ladysugarshaft Yes, her sexual orientation is no big deal we both agree. Though I have to disagree w/u on setting George free. I think he was kind of dangerous. Though intelligent, I think he had criminal propensities. What I'm disturbed about is his mother. She seemed so cavalier about her sons plight.

  • @AutopsyReport22 Let me guess, you're white? lol Like it's alright for a black man to be locked up for life over $70. GTFOH

  • @Ladysugarshaft Part 1 : My race has nothing to do w/this. I actually forgot that he was in prison over $70. After all this happened more than 40 yrs ago. No, I do not agree that he should have been locked up even more than a couple of years for a mere $70, but just because he was Black did not give him the right to go terrorizing someone on their property and robbing them and not face some jail time. If you make bad choices, regardless of race, you have to face consequences. Part 2..

  • @AutopsyReport22 He's dangerous to you because he took out a few a your kind. I don't blame him. It was kill or be killed. Those racist white guards where going to kill him. The riot was a set up and an excuse to take him out.

  • @Ladysugarshaft "He's dangerous to you because he took out a few a your kind." I wasn't related to any of those guys he took out, why would it bother me? They knew when they filled out the employment application to be guards that death was an imminent possibility dealing w/a bunch of hoodlums.

  • @AutopsyReport22 You have the typical cracker mentally, believe anything the white media throws out to you - lock up the man Black and throw away the key. You don't know jack other than what you were told. To hell with you and your damn opinion!!!!

  • @Ladysugarshaft Maybe the Black man would stop getting locked up if he would stop committing crimes. Better yet, maybe many stupid Black women should stop giving birth to illegitimate babies that grow up to be criminal and never positively contribute to society. btw, I never said that Black was not beautiful. But Black has gone to the dogs in many ways.

  • @AutopsyReport22 Wow @ your comment. Sooner or later the devil eventually shows his true colors. Thanks for NOT proving me wrong!

  • @AutopsyReport22 Interesting how Angela isn't a threat to you because she's a Woman (Black woman at that) a lesbian and a feminist, but the Black male (George) is. So typical of white males like you! If you didn't want George to freed from prison, why don't you have a problem with Angela? lol

  • @Ladysugarshaft I didn't mention Angela because I was only responding to one question at a time, and that was the one you mentioned about him being in prison for $70.

  • @Ladysugarshaft Part 2; It was a known fact that even in prison he was being brutal and insubordinate. I can't fix the legal system. I don't know why some states put ppl in prison for life over stolen batteries and other states let them go after 1 year over murder. But I am not in agreement with criminal activities regardless of race. Now we can have a civil conversation about this, because I am entitled to my opinions.

  • @DaniIvy Interesting.....Did Elaine or George make mention of this?

  • @Ladysugarshaft: Actually Elaine herself made mention of it. But since only her side was made known, and of course George himself isn't here to either disagree or agree, then her side is just that. Whether she exaggerated, lied, or told the exact truth is beyond me. Only she would know. And then there was his alleged affair with his former lawyer Fay Stender; as well as a small circle of other women who supposedly viewed him as more so of a sex symbol than a revolutionary figure.

  • @Chazz00 Yes, I recently read Elaine's book. One of the encounters she speaks of when visiting George is sad, pathetic and distrubing. George was quite popular with women on the outside; particulary female journalists. And that's all I'll say on that! lol

  • @Ladysugarshaft Which book? A Taste of Power?

  • @lifestraight Yes, in Elaine's book..... A Taste of Power. She writes about visiting George in San Quentin.

  • @DaniIvy Where did you hear this? About his attraction to Elaine?

  • @lifestraight , if you don't mind - I'll answer that question (lol) I'll just say that George's attraction to Elaine comes from no one else other than Elaine. As far as I know, no one else has made mention of it. So, It's up to you whether you choose to believe her. I'm personally on the fence when it comes to Elaine. I just don't know.
