Nice video! Though, I know they called the former I-30/35W interchange "The Pretzel", but I don't think they refer the newer one as such. I remember looking up old pictures of DFW area freeways, and the former interchange literally looked like a pretzel. Now, if they could only hurry up and do something about the Dallas Mixmaster......
@henryd1981 the names still stand as far as i know, there are a few others that i have heard also but are not used commonly. the dallas mixmaster you are refering to will be a part of project pegasus i-35e/i-30 and also the dallas canyon mixmaster, and the i-45 interchange with i-30. there are no set dates on which the project will be completed.. dot project pegasus dot org
if you are dong dfw tours, better prepare making those future shields with toll roads popping up everywhere. make sure the shield has blue background (TxDot standard), except for NTTA (toll road authority for those who aren't familiar) and private entities (Cintra - white/black/yellow, I believe). keep up the good work.
@freewayjim - fort worth will have five-level stack interchange (southwest parkway - texas toll 121)
@booklover691, flyovers (even they are cool and easy on your cars - less braking, for instance, as oppose to cloverleaf) would be quite risky in the northeast states due to sub-freezing temperatures - which I think is the reason why. whenever we have arctic blast, its fun watching those drivers sliding those flyovers - local channels show them all mornings, seriously!
A 4-lane freeway in view of downtown skyline?? For a minute I thought I was in Pittsburgh or Philadelphia LOL. Then those interchanges brought me back to reality!! PA never builds highways like that:(. Great video although would have liked to have seen a bit more of the downtown streets.
@booklover691 its fixing to disappear as soon as this year , so get a good look at it . a interchange just north of where 35w when it started point will be the new dallas high 5 and will put even that monster to shame.
@Freewayjim Well since the frontage is level with 35w . frontage and 35w are counted as the same level . Fort Worth is awesome at night . 35w is one scary ride tho on that 4 lane sections north of town
Very cool video. You picked a great (and underrated) song for this one, too. I know that Dallas has all the glitz and ultra-modern skyscrapers, but Ft. Worth has quite a nice skyline of its own. Not to mention that there's generally more of a walkable and down-to-human-scale atmosphere in downtown Ft. Worth vs. downtown Dallas. There's a good deal of restaurants, bars, cafes, lounges and night clubs that are all within easy walking distance of each other, making it easy for a night out.
@FreewayBrent thanks Brent , ya i spent a few hours in downtown fort worth just a few weeks ago. i know exactly what you mean and i did record a tour .
I really enjoy your videos. I have always wanted to do these types of videos, but you beat me to ti and you do a much better job then I every could. I drive from the Mid Cities every day into Fort Worth, coming in on 121 Airport Frwy...there are some nice views of downtown from that vantage point as well!!
What kind of camera did you use this and what did you use to attach it to the dash.

I remember traveling down I-820 in 1983.
The approach to I-30 required getting off to a side road, then onto another side road, only then could you enter I-30 east bound.
When did this interchange get updated?

I haven't seen many Ft. Worth videos lately. Thanks for the tour. Calling it "The Christmas City" makes sense with all those lights.

@eluko79 it will make more sense when you see a downtown tour as to why i called it that.
