  • Nice I transcribed this for one of my students!

  • thats HOT BA BY!!!!!!

  • This is very helpful. Many thanks.

  • Wow, man absolutely beautiful progression. Thanks for the vid mate

  • Thanks! BTW – you can learn to play the piano in half the time with new gadget that reads MIDI files.

    Google “Gizmag and PianoMaestro”

  • Bless all you super talented and sharing keyboardist! My one relevant criticism(but a very humbly spoken) It has seem to be the case for decades of my past and you tube has really brought it to light that barring a few players, many gospel players who grew up and learned to play keys in the church never learned the proper ways to identify & name chords especially those with alt and upper extensions, if at all. There is a STANDARD LANGUAGE by which chords are named BASED on western music theory.

  • Thank you :)

  • thank you!

  • Who wouldn't like this!?

    Praise the Lord.

  • do you think you could have a written down version of the chord progression?

  • nice!!!!

  • nice!!!!

  • What are those chords at 5:50?

  • Outstanding video, Brotha! Pretty chords! And a funky groove behind it! I was singin' "She's a Bad Mamma Jamma" to it - very similar chords. Thanks for your work, and please do more of those soul, funk, gospel progressions!!

  • man im so confused eish

  • hey do you have any other progressions like this one? When are you putting more vids i want to learn more?

  • I've been focusing on other things the past year or so, but hopefully I can put on similar videos like this by the end of the year.

  • great video man, thanks for posting!

  • Very nice, good stuff, sincere thanks. Stay on the sunny side.

  • Wesley, thanks so much, what a great little groove. Am taking it around the circle as an exercise. Yeh, that's what I''m talking about! Keep it up down there.

  • Sweet, very sweet.

  • chord @ 2:38 is Cm b5/7

  • lovely

  • D9#11

  • The bass line at the end sounds well cool!

  • YO THAT WAS GOOD, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!1

  • Thanks Wesley. Do you remember which Korg M3 PROGRAM you're using in this tutorial?

  • hmm. I'm using the sequencer but the bass sound is called Funkylicious Bass and the Ep is the Pan Suit EP 2. The EP is from the upgrade released a few years ago. I hope it helps.

  • Yip - that helps. In the meantime, I've been playing your tutorial on my M3: - combi: 69, scene: 4. Fun!

  • that sounds HOT !

  • I like it!!!

  • Your great, thanx

  • how is that an Aminor 9 when it doesnt star with the key of A? someone please help me.. i dont even think that chord is inverted...

  • The A is in the Left Hand and yes it's inverted. The actual spelling of the chord would be A C E G B but I've inverted it to A G B C E. I would suppose voicing would be a better term. Have a nice day :-)

  • i Know its been a few months and wesley has already answer your question but i just was posting just in case you didn't get it . when you play chords you can split it across the keybord and between both hands which gives it a different sound (aka voicing) so you don't have to play the A on the same hand are even in the same octive if all the notes are there then the chord is complete

  • Good lookin' out jazzy trumpet!

  • Love it Keep the videos coming PLeaase..

  • Yip...i'll give this a go...thank you!

  • I loved it. Wonderful instruction. Thank you for your generosity is sharing the method, and for inspiring me to give it a go. Four chords never sounded so soulful to me.

  • I erased some guy's comment by accident. They shouldn't put the reply and remove links so close together. Anyway the guy said that the chord I was looking for was a Cmaj7#11. Good looking out!

  • Sweet!! dominant 2 is Slick!!

  • wow, great stuff, I will try this later.

I only wish the quality was a bit better, I really enjoyed listening to these chords progressions!

  • my first gospel chordz too! thanx keep it uP!! u rocK!!!!

  • Flip the groove to a shuffle and you got Stevie "Isn't She Lovely"

  • I have GOT to try that. Thanks!

  • I was definitely feeling the chords sounds like something you might play for offering time at the church or what not but keep up the work that was very good

  • hi, i like the chords, i just had a suggestion in regards to the G chord, rather, do an Fmaj, or even minor to change it up a little... and when turning around do Ebmaj7 and Bbmaj... just trying let me know how you like it..

  • I'm finally getting around to trying that.... It's different. It will take me a while to get used to that sound but it might be pretty cool. Thanks for the tip

  • lol

  • You was killing that bass line in the back!

  • I could just sit all day and listen to that groove. Awesome!

  • I just love it. It sounds so great.

  • d with a flat 9

  • my first gospel chord progression thanks...

  • i feel like u holding back cos u are one sick player. we need more tutorials

  • Sexy progression.

  • these chords are so good..straight forward and easy..well taught!!

  • I like this chords, great progression! That's really gospel. Keep going :)

  • halalujia

  • you're a funny guy. Just wait until I see you next time!!

  • C,E,F#,B with D in the bass i think could possibly be D7sus2add6 maybe?? i dont know but that seemed right in my head. nice chord progressions though very useful

  • After putting some thought into it, I just think it's a D13 with the 5th and 11th omitted. The D7sus would have an 'A' in there somewhere. As I hear all the time.... who cares as long as it sounds good right?

  • yeh it dusnt really matter wat chord it is... it sounds cool and thats all that matters

  • It's Cmaj7b5/D, and it's a IV chord. Hope that helps.

  • No it's a plain old D13. The ear will never hear a chord with the 9th in the bass - it will always sound like something else. Combine that with the context (Am7 precedes it and it moves to a chord a 4th below) and with the fact that the notes make a simple D7 (with extensions) and there is no way to hear it other than a D13.

  • You are the best

  • Very simple, straight-forward, and informative video. There are very few on youtube of this quality. Thanks a lot!

  • Oh my Gosh, I absolutely loved the groove at the end of the video and how you put those chords together. I've never seen a C+6,9 before either. I like the alternate chord. This was great! I'll be using this all the time.

  • I'm glad you like. Be sure to mix it up to keep the listener guessing. Thanks

  • Mate, I've been taking piano lessons all my life and had almost given up on piano until I heard these mean variations which lit the spark again!! wicked as my bro!! keep it up

  • tasty!!Enjoyable Lesson!!

  • Wesley, what kind of progression would this be? Is it something like a i-V-VII-III

  • You would be correct, however now that I think about it, this groove would technically be in the key of C. I guess it depends on how you look at it. In the key of C it would be a vi-ii-V-I progression.

  • Great R&B changes there. I assume it would be useful to learn these changes in other important keys too, right?

  • It wouldn't hurt. Some say that you should be fluent in every key. That would be great... in a perfect world. I would suggest having 3 or 4 "go to" keys. Obvious I wouldn't neglect the other keys but i don't believe it to be realistic to know every single key the same.

  • Perfect.

  • dat a Korg M3?

  • yep

  • I must admit that I first I thoguht that I wasn't going to learn anything from this... But after hearing it from u and learning the chords... mad respect for u. Please keep it up and keep em coming. I'm looking forward to more

  • God bless you Sir.

More of this, tho will like to contact u in person.

  • hey bro. If you are ever in the Virginia Beach Area, hit me up. I'll be honored to help in any way.

  • yh, thanks. Unfortunately am in the Uk!

been trying 4 ages now to be a pro like urself, av purchaced several DVD tutorials worth more than £100, believe me, this progression u'v showned makes alot of sence to me.

  • Very good teacher...taught me something pretty and useful in just a few minutes. Keep it up... Thanks!

  • These are great!!! It's so easy to follow you. Thanks so much!

  • thanks so much. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement

  • You teach well..Thanks man!
