  • hey. .. maybe Oprah can help. i don't know. but, i will give it a try. i WILL! .. and, .. GOD BLESS OUR PETS!

  • Both Oprah and Ellen were contacted, sadly, neither responded.

  • You're kidding... I'm disappointed... THANK YOU for this video..

  • They are all so beautiful, If God wanted to save them, he send his Angels to save them....

  • They don't deserve the pets back! I don't have any sympathy for the ex-owners. Screw all the victims of Katrina who left pets and then wanted them back when they found a NEW LOVING home from people that really deserve the dogs and would NEVER leave them. EVEN IF I'M TOLD I CANT TAKE THE MY DOG BECAUSE THE SO-CALLED "RESCUE" PEOPLE SAID I COULDN'T, THEN I DON'T GO EITHER!!! That excuse is old! Be responsible and make plans for a disaster situation if whereever you live!

  • Pretend ur one of these people..U stay in your house cause it never flooded. Katrina comes & goes--ur fine & you go to bed after a sleepless night. Suddenly, your dog comes upstairs barking& u look downstairs & there's water. U look outside and there's an 8' wall of water coming down ur street. U get everybody up & in 5 minutes, u manage to get to the attic grabbing an axe as u go to punch a hole thru the roof. Now u and ur family are sitting on that roof for 2 days with nobody in sight.

  • Finally, somebody comes along in a boat. But they say, no dog! Its mandatory evac & they tell u they'll to shoot the dog if u don't get in. So u figure--let me put the dog back & as soon as I can get some food & find somebody with a boat, I'll sneak back. But when u get to dry land, send ur elderly mother by helicopter out ur elderly mother to a hospital but don't tell u where. They truck u to NOLA airport & put u on a plane but don't tell u where you're going until after the plane takes off.

  • U manage to connect w volunteers who will help u search. They tell u that ur dog was rescued but nobody knows what the rescuers did with him. U see a picture of him in the 'system' after he was rescued & it breaks ur heart to see him & not be able to find him. After a few months, u have a cell phone & enough cash to buy a cheap computer. U teach urself about e-mail & the internet just to search. U call hundreds of shelters who might have gotten him but most don't return ur call.

  • And ur kids keep asking about the dog & u keep reliving the moment that boat came up and u just keep thinking, why would somebody want to steal my dog—it's the only member of the family that I couldn't save.... So tell me Shawnman, would u give up? You don't like this scenario? I've got a thousand others just as heartbreaking, just as cruel, just as incredible. Shawnman, what would you have done?

  • You don't have a GOD DAMN CLUE! I couldn't take my three pets because I had to ride to Dallas in a Ford Contour with my mom dad sister, her husband, and their four kids. A contour only holds 4 people and we had to fit 9. Screw you because you have no idea what went on down there. SCREW YOU! Then there were dogs shot that were supposed to be safe in a school. PUPPIES! Don't tell me you are sick of the excuse because you don't have an IDEA OF what we went through. We lost our home and memories too

  • Again, live by the water...MAKE PLANS for evac if needed. That's all I've been trying to say. I have lived by the water all my life and have made plans/arrangements for any scenario concerning my pets. Otherwise, reconsider having dogs/cats. Maybe a goldfish or hamster would be more appropriate. I just cannot believe the amount of people living by water, as I, that were not and still not prepared to evac family/pets in an emergency. I just don't understand, that's all.

  • Amen..

  • ajmusic89, if a Ford Contour could hold those people, they those people could have held your pets on their laps. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR LEAVING PETS TO DIE IN THE WATER. IF YOU CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE TO ACCEPT YOUR PETS AS PART OF YOUR FAMILY, THEN YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE ANY PETS WITH LEGS. CHOOSE GOLDFISH FROM NOW ON. I THINK YOU CAN FIT A SMALL FISH BOWL IN A CONTOUR, RIGHT? Probably not -- You'll probably find some new excuses for abandoing your pets.SHAME ON YOU!!!

  • There is just no excuse for this tragedy! What can go on in these poor babies' minds?! If at least these people knew for sure that their family members have been adopted and are now loved and happy... but how can they know if they are "lost in the system"? This is too ridiculous for words!

  • I really tried to help. Can only hope so...

I still weep for these lost souls. However,

my little "CAPI" is thankful-consoles me.

    Tears continue to flow... Penny

  • ChrisBKART, I am SO SORRY that I accidentally

clicked the Wrong thumbs down!! I meant to click Thumbs UP for you. Forgive me. I wish You Tube could reverse this vote.

  • To Gloria--Agreed, people should have been allowed to take their pets. But also know, that tags, chips, collar info was NOT routinely checked. Chips are great but someone has to actually scan an animal and then call the chip company.

  • ChrisBKART, TEARS... I hope they are with human 'angels' & returned to their CareGivers.

If not to be-I pray Angels rescued them & in Loving wings brought them Home to live forever in Peace,Love,&Joy. I have a Rescue Albino Pekingese,"CAPI"-my love. - Penny

  • So sad. I don't know if I would have been able to leave my animals, they are my children.

  • Please circulate the enclosed youtube link to as many people as possible and ask them to please do the same. Included in this video are photographs of Missing Katrina Pets. Many of them were clearly rescued in the aftermath of Katrina but have vanished or ultimately were lost in the system. They could be anywhere in the country. Thank you.

  • MissBoomer, As a Prof.Musician, Your fine taste in Music so moved me & so appropriate!!

My other Passion is Animal Rescue/Rights. I have currently:"CAPI"-my love&joy Albino boy, spirit? Pekingese. Previously,3 red Peke girls-2 lived w me 18&17 yrs of love. GOD BLESS & COMFORT ALL of the Animals lost in the flood fr Katrina.I tried to enact Rescue Legislation for pet caregivers to bring their loved ones with in rescue.-Penny & "CAPI"

  • I hope people don't give up searching. There were so many people rescued who stayed because of their pets. The people who rescues told so many told them they could not take their pets.

Now everyone has learned a horrible lesson.

  • This problem would not have occured if their owners could have taken them with.I still can not believe that they had to leave their animals behind,my pets are my family,I would have been devestated.I am sure even if any of these animals were microchipped it still would not have helped.
