  • Please everybody, Im pretty sure the actor who plays Ted from Scrubs took the idea from him.

  • this version of the song is beautiful but remember the credit belongs to andre 3000, one of the best hip hop artists, dead or alive

  • Scrubs ftw.

  • awesome song but video quality sucks

  • Comment removed

  • amazing

  • i think outkast does a cover of this song

  • so gentle and perfect. great job. :)

  • Read the description.

THIS IS NOT THE FREAKING SCRUBS VERSION!!!

He made this before the Scrubs version was even made!!!!

  • listen to this while blitzed,

god there are tears in my eyes

    so beautiful ;u;

  • I didn't realize this version had been out for so long - only just began to hear it on the radio! Nicely done.

  • hmmm i like the un edited version of this better imp no need for the piano and other adds sounded alot better just him singing

  • LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • Better than Outkast's version i recon but i still like the Outkasts version

  • this song was already great

    outkast is da best

    this dude is too sik

  • they did a better studio version which is the inspiration for teds song. this is the first acoustic version

  • This song proves that while some people may not like hip hop or rap, there are still some artists out there who compose good songs, and unfortunately many of these songs are never really considered by pop, rock listeners, at least not until they change the genre of the songs like Obadiah did with Hey Ya.

  • awesome, thats music

  • I have rocked to the original many times and never listened to the words. You erased all the hype and kept it simple so that others can appreciate the lyrics and your beautiful voice. I find the piano a bit loud and enjoyed the other youtube posting of you strictly on your guitar a bit better, it was so simple yet it gave me goose bumps. @ others... Eff Scrubs and quit trying to bring people down with your "knowledge" of music and covers.

  • alll the covers sounds the same be origanal coverers

  • excellent work! thanks for posting ;)

  • Hrm, this is the studio version of the song, played over the video for the original acoustic. Wierd. I prefer the original acoustic. Much more natural and raw.

  • Good works are what make this world beautiful!...Good work!

  • scrubs ripped it from this guy

this guy ripped it from outkast

outkast probaly ripped it from some homeless drunk

no matter what happens the true artist gets wasted, forgotten, and is happy to see 100bucks for something he did

  • Definitely one of the best covers ever made, better even than the original. And I don't say that much.

  • unreal, who would of taught he would be that goog

  • sad. It's like the autobiography of a broken, dysfunctional and lost generation of people who can't commit and are see themselves breaking one another but can't stop it and are trapped behind a window having to watch the pieces fall...

  • I wana make love with that guy, although i'm a man and heterosexual ...

  • this sounds like the scrubs version, and I dont know why it does so much, when the description says that it isnt

  • @RoFxMedia Well perhaps there's a misunderstanding, since obadiah's (matt weddle) version was the original and scrubs directors found it online and then made a cover with ted playing the guitar.

  • Bellixima!

  • lol my sister just told me : stop listenin that shit(she said that in spanish) this is like te 10000000 time i listen to this song.. its really awesome

  • this is truly epic!

  • oh,it makes me kry...and want you even more every time I listen to the best song in the whole world...

  • I like the extra parts, but the vocals are no where near as good as the original, and the keyboard sounds like a cheapo yamaha that might play greensleeves, or canon in D if you hit a button.

  • Oh my god. Makes me wanna cry

  • this is such an amazing cover!!! 10 billion times better than the original! :D

  • @krazyxtwisted That's right man, you tell em. Anyone who has an opinion that differs from you is an ASSHOLE!! What the FUCK were they thinking!?!?

  • hahaha krazyxtwisted is a piece of shit.

  • @shredr18 fuck your mom

  • hahahahaah

  • i agree with you 10 billion percent

  • dont be a twat, this is matt weddle

  • Your and idiot logoff122, yes the one guy is Matt Weddle from Obadiah Parker. Same freaking person. Obadiah Parker is the group.

  • the guy in the hangover is zach galifinakis

  • 4:34

why is there 3 extra minutes of dead air!?

  • Outkast has amazing lyrics but someone should tell them that sometimes simple is better. Great cover!

  • He was awesome in the "Hang Over"...

  • He was in the hang over? ..

  • thts not him!!! looks like him but its not!!

  • Woah. Who knew that song swas so strong lyrically. :o And of course his voice does wonders for the song. :)

  • Amazing in every sense of the word. Bravo.

  • amazing :D really great

  • omg, that's totally amazing!

  • much better than the original version!

  • the piano is very 'scouting for girls'

  • Better than the original in my opinion. Beautiful

  • beautiful

  • dude this is one of the best covers, i've ever heard before

  • Where can I get the studio version mp3 with the piano and all??

Btw, this song is excellent, infinitely better than the original.

  • J'aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime =D

  • Great cover, i really like it.

  • Such a shame the video is out of synch.

    Great great song.

    5 stars.

  • i love it!

  • love it. top class 5 star cover *****

  • i love this version!

  • 5 stars in my book. Thanks!

  • The only thing cooler than being cool is weeping like a newborn at this, and all of Weddle's performances of this song.

  • This brought tears to my fucking eyes.

  • omg is not just me!!!!

  • i like sam lloyd's voice better,

y do ppl say he lip synced when he clearly didnt.

  • ok, uh he did, can you hear the wind? or the ocean? or the janitor and his wife laugh? now it is him singing the song, and his version is really good, i'm a fan of his band the blanks, but in the shot of him singing it has been dubbed over

  • Well of course. They always do that in television, or else to audio quality would be awful, especially outside.

    Even most movies.

  • First off...owned!! and this guy is awesome

  • I love the piano in the background... it makes this song even more beautiful.

  • amazing, love it

  • man lol i just saw "the Hang over" and you look like The character Allen

    lol

  • no wonder you're the 9th beacon of joy.... couldn't make the top 8 because you're a jerk.

  • The piano is loud here. Listen around 1:20-135 for one example. In other sections the piano sounds distorted. Sounds like the piano player has the sustain pedal on the whole time.

  • excellent version. i first heard this watching an episode of scrubs.

  • I also heard this on scrubs :)

Scrubs is awesome, and this song too :P

  • no you didnt lol

this aint the same version as the one from scrubs.

  • Comment removed

  • yes it is..

  • This version has added piano and backup-singers and stuff.. Scrubs just used the plain guitar version..

    Hope this clarifies.. ;)

  • Have another listen to the scrubs version, it does have piano and back up singers.

  • i know it has back up not sure bout piano it might

  • @Clyps2 oh shut up. im sure when farkovkervich said that he just meant the acoustic-ness of it.

get over yourself and stop being so defensive

  • @connmusic Yeah, Im sure that's what he meant.

  • great song. AMAZING voice. wonderful =)))

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome.

  • this was first ya ass

  • You have to get your facts straight! Scrubs episode aired not long ago, and this is from december 20, 2007!!! How can this be a rip off..?!

  • like im telling everyone, i ripped this song years ago, the scrubs version isnt the same as this one.

  • the scrubs one IS this one, sung by sam lloyd, zach hear this and recommended it and bill lawrence said "oi sam, play this"

  • Your Sir, are an idiot. Sam Lloyd is NOT using a Capo as we see Clyps2 IS using. and Clyps2 is doing more of a Struming Melodie rather then an arpegiation which Sam Lloyd is doing.

also It says the video is submited in 2007.. well the Episode of Scrubs where Sam Lloyd Did a Hey Ya Cover aired april 15 of 2009.

Read the fucking Information box and take his god damn word for it

  • I second Kodie 182

  • Thank you! hetra you ARE an idiot, open your eyes

  • open your mouth so i can take my nuts out. :)

  • Actually, hetra is correct. Zach Braff heard this song and recommended it to Bill Lawrence, and Sam Lloyd covered the song. It IS the same song, though musically different. It is a cover of a cover but it's still the same song. And by the way, Sam does not arpeggiate any chords in his version, maybe you don't understand the term. Both versions have piano and secondary vocals, but the piano player does not have sustain throughout the whole song.

  • Thanks for pointing out the fucking obvious.

Not shit it's the same song, and yes it is "musically Differnt" that's what some people here are trying to get across to Hetra. It may be the same SONG done acustic but it is DIFFERNT.

and i'm pretty sure it's not a cover of a cover unless Clysp2 is covering Sam Lloyd. and here it seems like he is Covering OUTCAST.

And Sam Lloyd lookds and sounds like he is doing MORE of an arpegiation then Clysp2.. obvs not ONLY an Arpegiation...

  • just because sam lloyd plays it like that in the episode doesnt mean it was recorded that way, do you really think he also recorded it with that right handed guitar flipped round? Sam lloyds version, IS this version, with his voice, him playing guitar, and someone playing piano, if someone covers a cover EXACTLY the same with different musicians, its till EXACTLY the same, calm down and get off your fucking high horse you arrogant, opinionated, self raightous piece of shit.

  • you contradict your self my friend.

To call me arrogant AND a peice of shit AND self riaghtous is infact beeing arrogant your self.

I do not deny That I am arrogant becuase alot of people are, including me self. and so be opinionated is simply OUR nature. You might try to NOT be opinionated but it's somthing that is very hard to control. I mean it's why you and i are commenting on this video.

Oh btw, He is covering Matt Weddles. I am simply COMFIRMING Clyspe2's comments and INFO box.

  • lol NICE!!! good job tellin him wats wat. and actually i think mat waddle sang the song from Obadiah parker

  • This is the version that Sam Lloyd COVERED. Hetra is correct. Sam covered this version of the song for Scrubs. Sam obviously lip-synced on the show, so there as no need for him to capo the guitar. If you watch the video agiain.. the guitar is upside down (most likely b/c Sam is left handed, but the strings have not been strung properly so hes not playn), and Sam isnt playing the proper chords.

Also the man playing the song in the video is NOT Clyps2, its Mat Weddle from Obediah Parker.

  • @Clyps2

Actually Ted from scrubs sang Matt Weddle's version of the OutKast song "Hey ya"

I am sure that is what you meant. Just wanted to be explicit.

  • This came first

  • wow!!! nice, simply nice!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, Black Eyed Peas write awesome songs. FYI The Vines did a cover of Ms Jackson that's pretty good :)

  • Why the hell did I say black eyed peas? Sorry, meant OutKast obviously :D

  • its really one of the nicest covers i have heard

  • One of the more "interesting" covers I've heard in a while. Taking dirty south and warping it into a cozy easy listening tune is something that doesn't occur very often.

  • hopefully my wedding song!

  • Yeah he did...

  • DANGG!! whew! amazingg!

  • Great Song

  • i really like this song but his beard is to distracting

  • the piano in this is really loud and distracting. Apart from that, this is really really really REALLLLYYYYYY awesome

  • ted's sounds remarkably simular

  • yes i agree indefinatly

  • I think Ted covered this one rather then covering the Outkast one.

  • On the commentary for this episode of Scrubs, Bill Lawrence explains that Zack Braff had heard this version and wanted it to be implemented into the show, so Sam Lloyd covered it for the show.

  • Awesome. Scrubs always has great music choices.

  • I agree. I love the music hey choose.

  • where can i get this version ? with the hole band.. i want it so bad hehe ^^

  • Best song ever

  • Like i said. i could have wrong. but its a F-word good cover of a cover =) love this version hehe.. have been listen to alot and alot hehe.

  • Great voice, this is my profile song on my myspace now!!!

  • It is Obadiah Parker. Sam Lloyd(Ted) just covered it (Pretty ironic, covering a cover)

  • u quite obviously dnt understand irony

  • Pretty sure ITS not Obadiah Parker That sings ! its Ted from scrubs Season 8 episode 15... exact the same.. just watched it.. but i can have wrong. Still a super great Cover .. love it =)

  • Its not Ted, Its Obadiah Parker. And besides, have a look at the date I uploaded this video, Scubs was still goin on season 6 or 7 2007. :)

  • ted just sings the version of obadiahs cover, Clyps2 is right the original is not by ted from scrubs. Its a class cover tho!!

  • i know ted from scrubs did do a good one but mat made one before ted mat was going to record this and some others on an album in january duno when it is out though

  • Sounds like such a different song!

The original is dance party song, and this one is beautiful love song.

Also 2:25 to 3:10 sounds hilarious

  • the live version is better. ditch the piano

  • this is sooo awesome!!! i love it! Also check out lil waynes lollipop acoustic version cover!

  • One of the best covers i've ever heard, easyyyy!

  • Nice one!

  • hell yeah its a lot better than the original!

  • better than the original song

  • his voice is a cross of fergie and jesus

  • love step brothers. and yes!!!

  • im pretty sure that he took the shape of a unicorn while singing it!

  • ROFL

    Nice

    LOLLL

    Awesome cover

As already mentioned: Better than the original!

  • I think this cover is better than the song

  • i pre form my color guard routine to this song i love it soo much!

  • It's amazing how much more profound the song seems when you change the music.

  • please support him at obadiahparker(.)com

  • I, too, much prefer the previous solo version... not to say I'm not buying the live album.

  • this song makes me believe in the power of love

  • Seriously? That's sort of strange, because the song is sort of questioning love altogether, and how difficult it is to maintain a relationship in the first place. What about it makes you believe in the power of love? The sound? Did you never pay attention to lyrics, or did you just hear them differently?

Or am I totally missing the big picture? That might be it. Sometimes song meanings fly over my head...it's hard to get a tone fro a song, because a song can sound happy and still be sad.

  • super video

  • amazing =)

  • Never commented on a youtube vid before, but i gotta give this artist some props. This is an amazing remake, very very talented man. The live radiohead cover you performed was also amazing, keep gracing us with such talent. Best of luck friend.

  • freshhh

  • makes the origional look like shit son! holla~!

  • really nice cover version, really like parker's x

  • wow

  • I love your voice. You sing really well. Your version sounds amazing.

  • Hey Ya ^^

  • I love it, I love you, I don't know you, but that does not matter does it? l cause you make this sound even better! I can actually feel the meaning of the words through your voice!

  • I really love this cover! it's amazing! :)

    <3

  • aww so pretty!!!!!!!

  • amazing ... love it

  • I prefer the previous version too...

  • WHOA! I like his plain accoustic guitar version. This isn't bad, but the previous one had more...I dunno...OOMPH! to it.

  • Fuck me , whose idea was it to busy up Matt's original beautiful cover ? The heavy, bouncy keys, the running bass line. Shhhheeeeeitttt !

  • that's the band version, i think. obadiah parker is a folk trio after all.

  • I was being rhetorical :p

  • And Justice is Done.

  • I prefer the previous version

  • so much beter than that hannuka one i saw like four years ago lol.

  • That was crazy. It converted from being something fun, to something beautiful... with amazing ease.
