  • The Beginnees ones (sp?) are made for preschoolers to teach them the proper way to grip a pencil/pencil crayon/pen once they get into school. Generally marketed to 4-5 yo.

  • I want Jumbo crayons. I have a 40% of coupon too!

  • As a teacher I got to test TONS of crayons and I totally agree that Crayola wins hands down!!! Rose Art and Cra-Z-Art, though cheaper, are a total waste of money because they break and don't draw smoothly. Teaching made me a total crayon snob :).

  • Yeah the Jumbo ones are for sure the best ,they are the perfect size and what we have always used at our school in all the kids boxes. They last the kids the entire year and that is with using them every single day to do their work/ projects. I like using the triangular ones as well for helping with pencil grip but maybe when Henry is a little older, or he may not need any help with that either :)

  • omg his so cute :) thanks for this. ive been trying to find a good brand of crayons so this was helpful.

  • I've always thought crayola does the best crayons!

  • I just wish they made a sturdier crayon they only last a week bt ella and chloe

  • i love crayola :)

  • I agree! There is NO brand like CRAYOLA! I had a box of dollar store brands and Crayola all mixed together and I noticed that sometimes when my grandson and I were colouring....the colours were much more vibrant! FINALLY dawned on me it might be the brand of crayon! So...did my own comparison...and discovered Crayola has no equal! Because the off brands are so waxy...the colour line keeps breaking up and/or you get very little pigment in the colours! I threw the dollar store ones away!

  • Thanks so much for the review...I have been baffled at the amount of selection and shapes. I will definatly look for these next time Im shopping! xo

  • Have u herd of an aqua doodle that might be what Henry needs that way he can draw and with in say 5 min the drawing Is gone and he can do another one it is a biggish Matt so he can do several drawings on it at a time just a thought on how to save paper and it is just water so it doesn't get anywhere it is nice they have a travel size also

  • @cistb No, I haven't heard of that before. I will have to check that out! Sounds cool! We are always looking for new things to do.

  • @dreamflight6000 Defenitly try the aqua doodle. They have travel ones as well. very cools for out to eat situations.

  • Oh yea, those little roller crayons/markers are horrible! We have the marker one's and I seriously think they make a bigger mess then just a regular marker!

  • Crayola is the best by far!

  • crayola for sure, brayden received some dollar store crayons for Christmas and I must admit it tossed them. They are just awful!

  • great info! Henry is so cute!

  • I agree....i love crayola the best.

  • I already wasted my money on those little ball crayon thingys lol my son never uses them! I'll have to go get him some of those Jumbo crayons! Crayola is the best!

  • Jack has those funny holder things that you showed at the end...the bath tub version. We just take the crayon part out lately, he is more interested in throwing the ball part lol

  • Thanks! I just ordered some of the Crayola Jumbo Crayons off Amazon.

  • i agree about the triangle ones and the big plastic circle ones! also, if they break, i always take the pieces and melt them down in the oven and make cool shaped ones! its like brand new crayons and you can mix colors!

  • those look fun!!

  • Henry is so cute. He has his Dad's eyes and your smile I think.

  • Crayola is the best, for sure! The Jumbo crayons are sold at Target during school supply season (and go on sale just as soon as school starts!). The triangular crayons are the ones I love most for my kids, and not because of the grip, but because when we color (at home or at restaurants), they don't accidentally drop on the floor! My 17-month-old is at the "uh oh!" stage and when those triangular crayons get "dropped," we know it was an "on purpose," not an "uh oh"! :o) Awesome review!

  • @ashley815 You know! I never thought of that!!! I never realized the triangular crayons don't roll! That makes me think differently of them! LOL! My toddler drops them purposely though so they get broken. Great for older kiddos though! THanks!

  • @dreamflight6000 They used to have half-crayons (like sliced lengthwise) that were called "no roll" or something, but then I couldn't find them anymore. But yeah, I love that the triangular ones don't roll. Perfect for restaurants where I don't want to crawl under the nasty table to retrieve fallen crayons! Maybe some day when Henry doesn't want to throw crayons anymore, you'll go back to the triangular ones :o)

  • I agree with most off brands being waxy. I always say spend a little extra for Crayola brand. You can usually get them on sale around back to school time...stock up then!

  • I agree about those baby crayons, such a waste! we had them and they really were awful lol, thanks for the review, very helpful!

  • We love Crayola!! I throw away all other brands:)

  • We have those Crayola beginnings triangular ones and they DO break so easily! I am so fed up with them and can't wait to try the jumbo crayons now! :) ty!

  • I couldn't agree with you more! I love Crayola. Rose Art and the other off brands are way too waxy. I also hated the Tadoodles. They definitely feel awkward in your hand.

  • wow, great review! you dont think to review and compare crayons but this is awesome! and i totally agree! spend the little extra on a good Crayola brand

  • Henry is so cute! What a sweet boy! I definitely won't be buying those little baby crayons with the round holder. Thanks for the tip!
