So fabulous! I cannot find the recording online, and the link to the Cathedral gift shop does not list individual titles. Do I understand correctly that this is a composition by Mr. Castagnet? With Latry at Grand Orgue? I'd love to hear more of this if it's part of a larger mass. Thanks for this!

This is just amazing thanks for posting. Everything that comes from Notre Dame I am impressed with. What an amazing setting of the Sanctus I assume there is a complete mass setting? Just listening to this here in this medium amazes me.....brings back good ole days of masses in Latin at my parish in Dallas Texas St. Thomas.

Is this the only mass Castagnet has written so long? I know that I'll sing a mass by Castagnet on Pentecost 2010... But I don't know which if there is more than one mass by him.

That's very good. The more I hear of YC playing and composing the more I'm impressed. The Grand Orgue sounds good here as well - I just wonder if the composer is particularly careful with marked registration, to get the best out of the organ? (or rather, to get the best balance between choir & organ, as I presume the choir was situated in the tribune with the instrument).

No the choir was down in the chancel area with the choir organ. There microphone placement allowed the Grand Organ to be captured so well without sounding too distant. Olivier Latry sat at the console with earphones on and Yves Castagnet at the Choir Organ

Absolut genial. Zwar tatsächlich eigentlich nur Orgelmusik mit mehr oder weniger Choreinwürfen, aber es hat auf jeden Fall was. Mehr davon, vielleicht hört man ja auch demnächst mal die anderen Teile der Messe.
