Enjoyed the signing.I was meaning deaf till age 9 (able to understand around 10% of words heard).My father used home signs (gestural signing).My mother didn't accept it. At age nine, tested again for deafness finally the meaning deafness was understood and gestural signing and representational objects were openly used. I then came to understand sentences and get functional language by age 11(as opposed to my own 'dysfunctional language'). Donna Williams (autistic author and artist).
