There’s a rash of Adsense accounts being disabled for invalid click activity last few weeks. You say not possible & there are logs to prove it, they say it’s another I.P. someone clicked 1 too many times, & you may have somehow encouraged them to do so. Asked for evidence of this they refuse saying it’s to protect their proprietary detection system. Everyone I’ve read, seen, & talked to who appealed was denied... hundreds, & that’s just the ones I found on YouTube & forums complaining.
Pre rolls have started on the mobile youtube site now, and the worst thing is, videos DON'T load, you have to watch the pre roll three times. Sigh. I wish there was another video site that could come anywhere close to competing.
I thought that there were legal rights to people who were in videos? That if I was recorded on the news I have every right to tell them they can't use me or my likeness without a waiver. Doesn't this apply to Google Inc? I do wonder if legal creative content that Google has no rights to, IF anything you said DOES happen. Would this all hold firm in a federal court.
Those "slightly evil" people at Google should understand they're supposed to give us their products and services for free! How dare they treat their altruism like a business model! EVIL, EVIL, EVIL!!!
I highly doubt this video will stay around once the deal is sealed. not one bit surprised I just wanna have as much fun as I can before we've fucked everything up completely.
Wow them "pre-rolls" are a big deal as it is really annoying !!! I did watch your entire clip !! AND IT WAS JUST ROKKIN !!! It was bound to happen as all that electrical power has to get payed by them and nothing is really FREE !!! I am departing google to Russian servers for $5.00 a month and no privacy issues.. Just Russian tube servers.. I also have a protest clip on google on my channel...Al Defect to China or Russia as they don't care if you are a dog or an American hiding from google
omg it just hit me. We were all complaining about copyright infringement screaming fuck the world when they want us to not use copyrighted images or words in our videos but now that the big companies want our content.... Everyone is pissed they dont have complete control and rights to the content they created.
@hotbeanful The difference is that the big companies are making piles of money out of their content. "We" the people don't make any or very little money out of our works but now those same companies can make use of YOUR work as well without your permission. Big difference. :)
The biggest lose is in thinking that we don't have other viable options, such as the YouTube clone ZippCast or any other platform appropriate for the purposes we want. If we chose to sell out for the paltry crumbs thrown on the floor to us from Google because we want the biggest numbers, then we're just like Google and living for numbers; that's the world we get.
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty." ~ Benjamin Franklin
@BlackwaterOpsDotCom I caught that myself after reviewing it. The problem is the "corporate person" and juridical "natural person" status the new terms PRESUME and imply, in jurisdictional issues (though I am certain they were always in there). I am definitely going to dig through it heavy.
I completely agree with your arguments, however I don't see Google doing this. Google is a great company, and I haven't seen any cases of this happening in the past. I'm pretty sure that Google would still ask permission before using your data for a commercial. As Google has said, they are doing this mostly for legal reasons. However, the SOPA law is completely different. We can see the US abusing power all the time, such as with the TSA, and incedents such as: /watch?v=PWeF6lwg4aY
@kylepolansky LOL, Google does this all the time. That commercial I spoke about, they didn't ask those people. One of my clients sites had an image in a thumbnail used in a commercial for Google and it was a stock photo, and we had a nightmare dealing with the royalty issues.
I'm a YouTube partner. Which mean I work for google and I pay taxes for them. Since I work for google, according to the TOS, I can now legally use anything on YouTube because I work with YouTube and this said video I wanted to use was on Google servers. In other words, I control anything.
Hmmm, interseting, I didn't think it would be that big of a deal until you explained it all. Technically, by me uploading videos, I work with google, right? So when the TOS changes, I can use copyrighted videos from people's VEVOs? Surely this will mean that they're going to have one massive copyright issue. Also, I don't use Vimeo, but it seems to be the next best thing. Seems like I'm going to have to use Bing and Chromium as my web browser then. Also, I suggest you google "google slogan"
They are allowed to create derivative work of my stuff as long as they mention my name and return their modifications to me. If they don't do that, then they violate the software license that I use :)
So what does that mean for musicians that upload music....?

New policy allows them to place ads without permission by the sound of it & with Adsense disabled they get all revenue… How convenient >.<

@hotbeanful To be fair I'm always on the side of Copyrights and IP. I just don't like SOPA's method or lack of due process.
Also these rules mean that I can't buy a stock photo that says it will only be used for online, because it might end up in other mediums.

@max82power No, I think it is content on the system that date gets moved to the new rules.

@max82power That's how I read it.

The only real difference though is the part about "and those we work with", the rest was already in the current TOS.

Actually there is other laws that protect you against them wrongly hurting your image, so if anything it would be for good, not bad.
