  • Classical guitar is such an amazing instrument!

  • Magico Narciso Yepes

  • To Joediaz - Whi not Andres? ( Segovia) -

  • how is this possible. He's playing constant sixteenths while arpeggiating

  • 12-string guitar?

  • @anarchistory Ten.

  • My first born will be named Narciso....

  • Comment removed

  • My name is narciso!

  • Amazing! Still, the speed is taking some of the musical aspect out of it. Pepe romero's version is the best I've heard so far in terms of tempo and musicality. XD

  • oh wow! the close up of his right hand is incredible. he s so economical and controlled. he IS the tremelo master inspite of all th other exceptional versions by other masters. No one gets close to this..and it isnt his speed, its the creation of a continuos sound which is so untouchable.

  • when the tears come it is art. they come.

    yepes !!

  • what a master! it sounds like two guitars playing at the same time!

  • hermoso algun dia toco esta pieza

  • La ejecución e interpretación es casi perfecta. Excelente.

  • i really enjoyed the de falla piece

  • This 10 string guitar incorporates all the natural resonance that the instrument lacked in eight of twelve notes of the equal tempered scale. Which means that additional strings make the guitar sound better and are not added to play on them.

  • I've noticed something watching classical guitar pieces here, on Youtube. Classical guitarists are very touchy and opinionated.. Anybody else notice this?

  • un gran maestro, me encanta escucharle

  • where is the guitar?does he think that playing a box with extra strings makes him super?? he is usless as a top player!!

  • @vinnothelizard are you kidding me?, i hope you are not serious at all!! those extra strings make the sound richer.

  • Why use that grotesque guitar when he does not need upper strings most of the time?

  • @haviskam because there is nothing to lose and all to win, this great master has played many pieces where is necesary to play in the other strings (mainly barroque period)

  • Not very well played. His tone is harsh and the phrases are not smooth.

Tempo is so off in places.

  • @Rexicano You do not know what you are talking about. Why don't you post a video of you playing the same piece and we will compare them and let youtube subscribers be the judge smartass!

  • @pattietatoo

    You go first!

    Let's see YOUR video.

So you think the YouTube crowd is the best jury for Classical Guitar?

Wow, you're one of the biggest idiots in the world.

    Now fuck off, um-kay?

  • @Rexicano You're not worth talking to, dickweed! Why don't you take a long walk off a short pier. Better yet, go play in the traffic!

  • @Rexicano By the way....you're the one who judged, not me. I play flamenco not classical.

  • @pattietatoo

I already know you don't know shit about Classical guitar.

And all your comments about Short Piers and Traffic; cliches that show you have no imagination. That's something a 12 year old would say.

Now go away cry baby...if I'm "not worth talking to..." then why did you write to me?

Cause you're just a fool. Probably suck at Flamenco too.

  • Para mí, sin duda, el mejor.

  • Jesus, that was wonderful!

  • lindo

  • hearing this compotition he make me remeber REMI thanks master YEPES

  • always sad i never saw him perform in person. saw segovia, bream, williams. he was out of the picture by that time. great version of 'asturias'

  • hermoso

  • is that just one guitar playing or two as if thats just one must be hard to play

  • jockateo is only one .. he use 3 fingers to play only one string for that it sounds like more than one guitar and is not difficult at all just with practice because at the beggining is strange play in that form ( sorry for said fingers my english is not very good xd ) anyway see you

  • thanks

  • @m0sw4ld0 When it's "not difficult at all" why's there nobody who can play this peace like Yepes?

  • john williams can play it .. gentil montaña too .. yepes is great but there are other people who can play it ..

  • @meyersmaier My personal favorite interpretation is Pepe Romero's. I think Yepes plays it too fast and his tone is too twangy for me. But thats just me.

  • Yes - Romero is also great, but he has got another idea of this peace (very soundfull, very romantic).

No - Yepes is not "too fast". He plays about 108 BPM - the upper end of "Andante" & that is what Tarrega wrote. In this tempo the recuerdos has got a great clearness and "simplicity" - but this "simplicity" is very powefull and paradoxically I did never har it from any other player.

  • Comment removed

  • @meyersmaier I am not sure who made the comment to which you are replying, but the left hand of the piece is not difficult at all. The right hand tremolo, however, is quite difficult to keep steady and even. That's what makes "Recuerdos de la Alhambra" among the "virtuoso" pieces of the classical guitar repertoire.

  • @meyersmaier Because they are boring, this is the sort of stuff i personally use for warming up my ring hand fingers. Look up: Thrashed lost and strung out solo by children of bodom. no thats a hard piece.

  • @Hexibaz And after your boring warming up exercises this masterpeace finaly appears; Your..."The Last Fight Solo". where can i buy it?

  • @perothing haha. 1.its a cover. I did'nt write it, plus look at the upload date mate. Progress is made everyday

  • @meyersmaier it's not difficult to learn, it's difficult to play that well, though... the hard part is the finger picking shit. That stuff makes me crazy... Dunlop flatpicks for life... lol

  • @since1876 LOL, one of the stupid comments someone could deliver here. Bravo!

  • @sa7sul and you're one of the dumbest faggots on YouTube. Try learning the song before you say it's hard to learn. Moron.

  • @since1876 Congratulations, you are an idiot.

  • "must be hard to play."

  • Just one! You play the arpeggios with your thumb and the tremolo melody with the other fingers. It's a tough technique (!), but, when mastered it sounds like a mandolin and a guitar.

  • Thank you for posting!!!

Would you please tell us what year this is from? Thanks again.

  • A quick, maybe amateur question: why is he using 10 string guitar. I've seen lots of videos and I have never noticed a moment when he would be using the "additional" bass strings. In contrary they seem to cause some problems (like in this video in 4:46).

I'm not obviously trying to critisize Yepes. I think he is one of the greatest guitarists ever.

  • You will find an explanation for Yepes's use of the 10-string guitar (the acoustic reasons) on the site

    tenstringguitar (dot) INFO

  • no you are right. he is the greatest guitarist ever lived. he is also a human-being, he makes mistakes as well as the other gods of guitar did. and i quote "The strings that I have added incorporate all the natural resonance that the instrument lacked in eight of the twelve notes of the equal tempered scale." for this reason he added four more strings. he needed "more notes" on his guitar.

  • yes he plays some of the additional strings in the falla's piece in this video...look closely when he plays the chords he plays at least 7th and 8th strings, you can see them vibe..furthermore i think the additional strings add sustain and reverberation by induced vibration, the vibrations of the strings played are transmited to that additional ones...creating resonance and a improved piece's harmony feeling...i'm not an expert btw :)

  • i would have very much liked to talk to him before he died and ask him what the hell was up with the guitar!

  • you can feel this on a good guitar. Play a note and you get a sympathetic resonance that just rings on and on throughout the guitar. You can tell it's resonance by muting the string played.

On a 6 string though, not every note has this and many people call it the 'sweet spot' for the guitar.

Adding four extra strings adds more 'sweet spots' for greater resonance and sustain.

I strongly doubt it's audible on a YT vid. Probably only in person.

And honestly, I don't hear Yepes using it much.

  • gives the guitar a 'chromatic-resonance' apparently
