  • Cool solo. Unlike a lot of synth players, you obviously have some keyboard skills.

  • Yea totally sonic the hedgehog genesis era ...lovin it , real tasty jam

  • good stuff eh

  • italo disco!

  • put your electric guitar in the trash...

  • awesome!

  • cool! reminds me a bit of hydrocity zone

  • man, you must be really good to improv in c!

  • No way you did thid by improviing ..... :)

  • Sick bro

  • such a great solo as this really needs a better backing. The idea is fabulous but it sounds a bit stiff ,like a loop repeating endlessly, particurlarly the organ. It needs a little more of a band feeling.

  • Pretty Cool!

  • fake

  • Does this remind anyone else of Sonic The Hedgehog?

  • hey! nice jam and great sound.

    have a good rock

    dany

  • what does the pad you keep your thumb do?

  • pad x=lpf resonance

    pad y=lfo rate

  • GROOVY ...

  • Wow!I LOVE your solo!Complete masterpiece!

  • Sounds like a backround song from a Sonic game

  • hey dude, this is awesome what patch number is that? i am gettin mine today so i just wondered as it is a sick lead sound!

  • it's a custom lead sound i made few years ago. basically two oscs in sync (check description for details)

  • ok thanks

  • is this a midi controller or does it have to go through a computer to work or can you plug straigh into an amplifier???

    please reply.

    thanks alot

    nate davis

  • its sweet its a real polysynth and its ALSO a midi controller and an audio interface!

  • how many diferent instruments or sound does this synth got

  • as many as you can program in 200 patches

  • nice. How much is that synth?

  • Danm good job man! You are the devil of the 2 octaves!

  • lol!!!

  • awesome

  • Is it possible to do digital fm sounds, ala fb01 and tx81z?

  • the xio has only three oscillators. you can sync in fm 1>2 or/and 2>3 so it's a lot limited compared to classic fm synths

  • you need to know how to play keyboard to play this i guess? D:

  • why. so. fast.

is the analogue modeling on that piece any good?

  • can the xio be plugged to an amp for live performance??

  • sure, why not?

  • yes.

  • what was the MOD lever assigned to? sound like an LPF but im not sure.

  • mod=lpf cutoff (negative value)

    ;)

  • nice!!

  • hei i have a question...is this only a controller midi or is it a synth? is it linked to a pc or is it "standalone"??

  • Both.

  • it's a standalone synth

  • Sick funkins'

  • This sounds like something that would be in Wave Race 64.

  • bravo!

  • i have a micron and i'm looking to buy another cheap synth. how does this thing compare to the micron? and if that was all improv that was hellllla good. i like the pitch bend on this thing.

  • the micron is better then the xio (more possibility/methods to program) but i preferred xio's filters, it was cheaper and i needed a controller+audio-interface. the xio is a good VA, not the best, but for that price i don't think you'll find something better.

  • wow wow is that touch pad the pitch bend??

  • i think its just a modulation for a filter or vibrato or something

  • can you safe new made sounds???????????

  • Yes

  • Sounds like the soundtrack from Pilotwings on N64.

  • how did you program your pad and mod to do that?

  • mod=cutoff (negative value)

    pad x=resonance

    pad y=lfo rate.

the lfo control the pitch of an oscillator in sync with another (FM).

  • I use a Xiosynth in my live performances...Check 'em out if you want :)

  • nice!

  • I just thought of something. Is there enough room on the Novation X-Station 61 for a Novation Xiosynth 25 to fit snuggly on the flat part of the keyboard? You know, the board on the right of the controllers of the X-station.

  • I don't think so.

  • hye people im kinda new to this syth stuff, so someone think they can help me? I Have a xiosynth 25 novation, and I heard one can programm your own sounds or instruments. Could someone tell me how?

  • Are there any keys on your Xio that have a loud rattle to them when let go? I'm now on my 3rd Xio (first two had issues). However, I noticed tht ALL THREE Xio's I had.., both of the (B) keys were very noisy. When you press then down and just let go of them there's this very annoying rattle. This is supposed to be a semi-weighted keybed and I expected a little better quality from the keys due to it being semi-weighted.

  • Dude, this sounds so awesome! I played with one today at Guitar Center, and I think I'm buying it in a month or so. From hearing this, I guess you recommend it? Any pros/cons that you can tip me off on?

  • what you need? i needed a VA, a controller and an Audio Interface. the xiosynth is perfect for me. i use it with my macbook both live and studio.

    main cons:

    - LFOs pre-assigned

    - no aftertouch

    - pot jump only in control status

    - few (trivial) OS bugs on display text

    - no physical midi in (only via usb)

  • Can you add new presets that you create yourself? Like, past 299?

  • you have only 299 "slots" but you can overwrite presets with your own sounds...then you can easily put back factory presets with any midi utility.

  • I noticed that you can't go lower than 100. Is that true?

Also, I use Linux, and I heard that this is plug and play, but is that the same for restoring factory presets as you say?

  • "lower than 100" ? whad do you mean?

the xio is plug and play yes...but you'll need a midi utility to dump or save your/factory patches. under macosx i use sysex librarian, unde win you can use midiox, don't know for linux, sorry

  • I mean, when you go below the 100th preset, it doesn't go lower. Like, number 100 is number 1.

  • ah yes, i forget. you have 200 patches: from 100 to 299

  • Okay, thanks. I'm definitely purchasing this.

  • the keys are very good for synth use, but for piano/organ use you need to tweak a lot with dinamics parameters. i loved the filters, more then the alesis ion/micron ones. when you use it via usb you don't need the power adapter.

ask yourself, do you need a little VA, a controller and an Audio Interface all in one?

  • k ill check, thanks

  • is this just a midi keyboard or can it be used totally free of computer pluggery

  • it can be used as a standalone synth too.

  • does the xiosynth come with any presets?

    like sounds already on it?>

  • of course! 200 presets and you can download more on the novation site.

  • I bought this synth with my talk box will it be good enouph to get that roger troutman talk box sound i know he used a yamaha dx100 but that was from the 80's so this is way more advanced. But will it work just fine with a talk box?

  • the main thing is the talkbox, not the synth. i think you can easily recreate some of the sound of the dx100 (evene if it's FM) with the xiosynth. you need to have only a good talkbox :)

  • Ok thank you very much i bought the rocktron banshee which from what i've read it is the best tal box on the market. thanks for the reply

  • Nice little thingy :)

Though it's not very good build it's quite good. Especially when travelling.

  • Logic!! A recording studio? Can u write down the exact name of the program u used? I need to make beat's and record voice.

I play many instrument's but never recorded.

    Thanks man.

  • i used apple logic express 7.2 but you can use any other daw.

  • One thing!!!?? How did u set it up for recording?? it's my first time of work with this stuff. what's playing the drums and the other stuff. Please explaine. Thanks. ;) realy nice work ;)

  • i pre-recorded everything with logic and then recorded only the lead.

  • This thing is a sound card and a synth... Controller

    Effektprocessor

    Syntheziser .

    It's all in one. ;)..

    I'm buying it 2morrow.

  • ??

    what u mean sound card?

u install on your computer? comes with the package?

or sound card inside the synth?

  • the novation xiosynth IS a synthesizer, a controller and a sound card/audio interface. why don't you check on the novation site?

  • I WANT ONE. I really need a midi controller, and a sound card, and another synth would be nice too

  • Great inside the rithm playing! You'll do amazing things with sense of time!

  • Excellent playing! Great rithmic style of lead playing inside the beats.

  • hiya

I just brought the Xiosynth 25 and its absolutly awesom. But its my first synth and i was just wondering if any1 could help me out with making my own patches. Im only 13 so simple words would b hardcore!

    Thnx

  • great...please, register on progsounds dot com forum and ask there. me and other will try to reply your questions.

  • Omg same. haha.

  • mate you are fucking amazing!

  • love this !!!

  • Mate you sound like you know your synths, so i need a hand

I'm lookin to create and compose a few songs and for that I want a synth that I can record straight onto the computer with. So it also needs a reasonably good drum machine built into it.

It also needs to be a synth and not too much a keyboard.

My three possibillities are the Xiosynth 49, the microkorg, and the yamaha mm6. Price range is about 400 max as im on a bit of a budget.

    Pleaaaase help me out mate

    Cheers

  • Get the xio49. The microKorg isnt really all that good. The xiosynth is easily your best best and costs only half of your budget.

  • with the xiosynth you have an audio interface integrated...you can record just with the usb cable. for that price i think the xiosynth is one of the better choices, but it hasn't a drum machine, but you can download many free drum machine for mac/win

  • an another thing...i like the microkorg engine...but the keys are really awful :) my casio sk-1 has better keys!

  • true that...I practically always use an external controller to play mine. Although with the micro's keys, you can reach some pretty wacky intervals...:-D

  • i just recently purchased a xiosynth and im in a band and was wondering what setting would be the best for a raw sound?

  • what kind of raw sound?

if you need a starting preset to make your patches there's Init Program (199)

  • Wow man this is amezing! its just great!

i just have alittle question, im a guitarist and i need something that may help me in composing (i really like synths) ... do have any advices? any good keyboard for that? but within an acceptable price ... lol

    thanks

  • there are hundreds of options...

    what do you need?

how many keys? (you can compose even with 2 octaves)

what kind of sounds do you need?

or do you want a master keyboard?

    what controls, features, connections?

how much is your acceptable price?

  • Man, ahhh ... I play progressive oriental metal ... so it would be helpfull to have something with a great synth ... check out "vitalij kuprij live in japan" on youtube to get what i really want ... but something alittle smaller ... just to help on composing ... about price just give me whatever you think is good.

  • really is not so easy...you should learn to program patches, synthesis...

the xiosynth is a VirtualAnalog, maybe the 49 keys version could be a good starting point for you...anyway if you are good, you can get awesome sounds from every synth...

  • yea, i guess i'll check it out ... that was so helpful dude ... thanks alot!

  • Wow, I have a x-station but i can't do that ;)

do you use a preset ?? if yes, which ?

  • no, it's not a preset...just a "simple" sync lead

  • this vid made me cry thats how good that solo was!

  • this shiti asome! synth is better than microkorg..( it depends for what you use them.!)

  • Agreed! mine just arrived this week....for an all round hybrid synth/controller/audio interface it's awesome...love the X/Y pad & the X-Gator. The microKORG is good...I just didn't like the mini keys...but then again...each to their own.

    BTW nice job Carlos

  • perfect for some sort of mini game :D

reminds of the music in transport tycoon

  • are the patches in the xiosynth about the same as the Xstation?

  • yeah same sort of synth and the patches are compatible on x-station but the xs is better - has aftertouch, more control etc.

  • brilliant ill look into this. It would be perfect considering the range of sounds the micron offers and a very cheap way to go about it.

im going to add you if thats ok, i may have questions in the future. Thankyou very much for your help so far! x

  • hope you'll find your setup :)

if you want, you can find me on progsounds dot com forum...

  • thankyou ill join it!

    look forward to speaking soon.

  • Nice video! Im looking to get one of these i think. I play in a band and at the moment im using just an Alesis Micron, its brilliant but i need another synth to add afew more octaves and sounds to play around with. Would this be a good choice?

given the price and the sounds im hearing on here it seems like it.

  • no, i don't think the xiosynth would be a good choice for you. micron and xiosynth are the same kind of synth plus the micron has a more flexible engine. maybe you need a rompler or any other digital synth, not another virtual analog...but it all depends on your needs.

  • well if im honest im not looking for anything much different. Im just looking for another synth to add, i dont play anything too complex just alot of lead electronic type sounds.

i havent got a big budget either hmmm. Any other suggestions in a similar price range?

  • the micron is multitimbral? if so you can buy a cheap controller/masterkeyboard to add octaves and use other micron sounds...anyway if you need something else like micron the xiosynth is a good virtual analog at a really low price. i don't think there are other new (not used) VA at that price...

  • you've just helped me onto my next question which i forgot about, thankyou!

the controller part of your answer...

if it turns out the micron is multitimbral. Then could i hook up a controller and easily assign micron sounds to it? That would be perfect you see. I just need to be able to call up my setups etc fast for live use.

also would i be able to use the knobs on a controller like on the micron?

thanks your i really appreciate the help.

  • yes, if the micron is multitimbral...then you should assign CC# to knobs/sliders on the controller following the micron midi controller list (i think you'll find it on you user manual) in order to use them with the micron.

  • very nice. is the xiosynth good? better than the micron?

  • NICE VIDEO

Does midi and audio transfer thru usb or do you need to use cables for audio. thanx

  • yes, midi and audio transfer through usb

  • you're awesome as, pretty fast in some part aswell !

  • PLASTIC SOUND ...WALDORF!!!

  • The good old C blues scale. I love it

  • very nice, i can't stand only having 2 octaves

  • I would go crazy only having 2 octaves!!!

  • very impressive playing

  • are playing all of this with the aid of programs on the computer or is this song all the xiosynth.

also, i see one of the lighted buttons pulsing, are there latches for a drum and bass part on the xiosynth?

i just want to make sure this is the right decision over a microkorg.

  • i've recorded separately xiosynth organ and bass and ns_kit free drums with logic express...then i've recorded the video playing this through the xiosynth audio interface along with me playing the lead sound. the xiosynth is not multitimbral. the pulsing lead is the rate of the lfo(s) that i control with the XY pad

  • great video-just wondering if you could tell me it performs as an audio interface? any probs with latency? oh and is this things synth engine basically a k station? thanks

  • yes...never had problems with latency but i don't use heavy softsynth or samples. i think the synth engine is the x-station

  • nope... It's a K-Station. Well atleast the the X-station is a highly advanced k-station. :)

  • The latency in the x-station wich is practically the same as the xiosynth just a little more advanced has a very low latency you just need to set the aiso right. and then your right about the DSP, it is a k-station.

  • hi mate can u tell me what software your using

  • i've used logic express for the backing track and then imovie hd for the video

  • cuz i got a xiosynth today and i plugged in to my usb connection and it didnt work so i had to get like a demo for it to work ?

  • are you a mac or pc user? what do you want to do with your xiosynth?

  • pc user and everything i want to do everything cuz that novation site were you can download stuff off is crap and how do u get new sounds on ur xiosynth cuz if u look on the novation site u can get new sounds ?

  • please, go to progsounds DOT com/forum register and post your question about the xiosynh in "Hardware Synthesizers" section. i'll reply there.

  • great! :D

  • rocking out the cafe latte morning show!!!

  • good work dude

  • lol, coincidently i search for my favourite band(ozrix) on You-Tube and found my own Keyboard hehe, The most incredible synth of all time, or just a fucking new synth with a wicked innovation engine !

    Its Revolution babey!

  • wtf @ that keyboard

  • who cares which scale or tone it goes in as long as it sounds cool? great stuff!

  • Very nice especially considering the 25 keys.

  • Absolutely awesome. Especially for a 25 key.

  • one word: awesome

  • Great

  • nice work... you're getting a lot out of 2 octaves there.

tonally does not compare to the old moogs, tho i'm sure it's much more versatile... and certainly much more portable. hell, you could play with that on a plane using a lap top... now that's portable.

  • Hey jumpstartz do you know any good xio synth tutorials online? I got me the 49 key version

  • Blues Scale in C ,not very original but good stuff ;)

  • Stellar playing

  • great
