Im not hating on this video its really nice. But i thought soul fire was a longer cast, used a soul stone, and had a cool down? if im wrong can you tell me how you do that?
@masterwarcraft3 he's using a Demonology spe there for when a mob have less then 35% health he can spam soul fire the cast time is reduce alot and you dont need soul shards its kind of over powerd when you kill a really strong boss but really usefull ^^

It goes way over this guys hits, crits and dps with my warlock on retail, as demo spec. I hitted my highest dps in todays ICC 10. We had a nice tank failing at a pull, sampling up 2 packs. Metamorph + immolation aura + Seed of Corruption spam. Gave me a nice 42k steady dps. :)
My first toon was a warock and that toon has been my main for 5 years. I can tell you that demon is not all that fun at all if you havnt been doing it long, to get top dps with demon takes time and skill to master it in all honesty, it can be confusing, and if you are already geared doing ICC and stuff dont change specs. Afliction seems to have good and fun dps and spec set around 5200 GS but i personaly think that destro is where its at, im 5700 GS on my warlock and i still go destro.
So you have been playing for 5 years and yet your messing around with GS ? from a veteran like you claim to be i would expect a whole other approach regarding GS

@krzyxbne still... remember that this specc gives youre raid 10% of youre spell power. and thats still worth something if you cant do same dps as your destru. me for exampel i buff around 400 spell power. better than shaman! ;)
I just tried all three specs in a matter of a week, and I find demonology to be the most fun. I leveled demonology and stayed demonology as a 70 pre-WotLK and loved it. I love it now as an 80 esp. with metamorphosis. Meta increases your spell while you are in demon form, has certain aoe spells that cause DoT while you cast your improved shadowbolts and overall I find is easy to play. Destruction is ok, but affliction is a pain in the ass if you ask me. :D
when the boss is under 35% health, your shadow bolt and incinerate will cause a demo lock to gain Decimation. Decimation makes the cast time reduced and it does NOT cost a soul shard.
Demo is not the best for dps. Destro is nice for burst damage and adds. Affliction is the top damage. Affliction and Destro are more of play style preferences.
Cuz of Bane which reduces soulfire cast to 4 sec and decimacatio which reduces csat time of soulfire to bout 2 seconds thts y he's raping with soulfire

when it came live it only lasts for 15 sec OR 3 casts so its not spamilb unless it props ALOT so only 3 soulfire's then u have 2 wait for it 2 proc agion... im in full greens wid 1300 sp and i crit 18k soulfire n horde ;P

There is no way in hell a tank woul d be able to sustain threat against that. So, you would have to stop and wait for him to build threat again before you could cast again :|

I don't understand. Decimation procs off attacks made to a target under 35% hp, and some dummies are under it some are not. The only things that are being changed now is that it can also proc off soulfires which instead of constant casting of sb -> sf -> sb to weave decimation procs in, making dots fall off, you can now cast soulfires without having to worry about dots falling off. The other change is that soulfire cast speed is reduced by 20% extra then it was before 3.3 (now 40%).
Wtf, how much haste do you have to get soul fire down to 1.1 seconds.... was this before they brought decimation down to only 40% cast time reduction?
Well I work it out to be 45% haste, that's with decimation and full bane. However you cut it, that's a lot of haste, in fact it's about 1400 haste rating
why qq , decimate only works under 35% hp and need sb debuff on the target first , its like the drain soul from affliction skilld locks and no one qq about affli locks , nothing will change with this patch , and btw demo already got nerfed on the prt so its still sucks compared to destroction, im looking forward to affliction changes
Yeah demo and affliction are gaining nice damage and dps buffs, the damage on destro will remain the same but the dps will be lower because of the conflag not bursting as high on the first hit. Remember though, with decimation its on the LAST 35% HP of the boss. Bare that in mind other than that looks very promising :)
no this is a raiding spec.. and before this it was and IS only a starter spec. But my spec went without demo form and i picked up Conflag and picked up decimation for the 35% hp soul fire spamapalooza once u have hit cap it is far more beneficial to go full destro.
Yes Demonology dps did look nice, but you will not be able to soulfire spam a raid boss untill 35% so the other 65% of the health will have to be done shadowbolt spamming which will not have as close as good damage.
Are you using some sort of stop casting macro? I see many of your casts stopping before the end of the Quartz bar, yet the cast still happens. It was my understanding stop casting macros weren't necessary anymore. Please explain, and if so, post the macro plz.
all you're doing is spamming soulfire. did they remove the soulshard requirement to cast? toting around 60 shards per boss encounter doesnt sound realistic
looked at your tree.. still decimation under 35% health.. of coarse dummies will be that low on health.. but it still does not sound realistic in raid encounters
fabrizio: it will be interesting to see how it turns out. alot of these videos are dependent on standing very close range for quicker spell hits. and HUGE spikes in actual dps. from 21k crit down to a staggering 3k hits. it's just too spikey.
but its not dropping to 3k hits, they're actually 7-8k hits if you look properly, the 3k crits would be something else, cant tell because theres too much static in his combat text, but I can tell you for sure when his soulfires hit, its definately not for anything less than 6.5k.
If I wanted to make some kind of epeen dummy benchmark vid I would've ran a few attempts to get RNG crits up. A few times when the dummy hit 35% my DPS broke 10k with 2+ mil damage done.
The vid is just a demonstration, I'm not trying to prove anything or I would've been on the level 60 dummies dropping Immolation Aura. I also had to drop a ton of SP to gem for hit cap.
Raid buffed with 2pc t11 w/Firestone and Soulfire crit chance will be well over 50%. Think about that for a sec.
well i was reading up on warlocks den about the meta spec now. this one guy was saying how good it was for his guild. so i tried it tonight. i had the gear and hit, but demon now just makes me look like a chump on the dps meters. f that. also this spell rotation is stupid. i kept getting clumsy with the shadow bolt and soulfire rotation.
if they are buffing this tree then destro will also be buffed. i had already seen word that affliction was being worked on .but f that too
It's good AoE for fights like Anub'Arak or Ony, it's terrible for tank and spank fights like Patchwerk and the rotation is so boring. If you've got like 4000 spell dmg it'd be worth going Demo for the raid buff if you've got a lot of casters.
Aff is getting buffed and Destro will still be competitive but Demo will at least have a niche. Meta needs to be a permanent form.

With rated BG` s i still see this as op in pvp. Current decimation can be dragged to the next mob; ie, proc it on 1 player and then spam 1.5 secs, 20k crits for the next 8 seconds - it will be very easy to keep this proc up in bgs. A better solution could be; procs after 3 shadowbolts at 100% hp, after 2 shadowbolts at 50% and after 1 sb at 35%. Just let it proc, like it does on ptr so there wont be any problems wth travel time etc.
Yes, but the proc occurs when Soulfire lands on the target and is supposed to be consumed when the spell is cast. It's not like Shatter where you can double-dip.
If you look at my buff bar you'll see it remains behind Meta and is never consumed.

Looks like Decimation has been changed to an 8 second buff instead of just applying to your next Soulfire.
the damage of soulfire isn't changed, just the way decimation works. the crits you're seeying here are from good pve gear sported by a pve spec while stacking cooldowns.
you might want to think things over before you start whining. oh, my highest nonstaged soulfire crit so far in WSG was 32.448, obviously need a nerf! just because its a high number!
while actually I used pve gear, flasked, got berserking and shot an unsuspecting newly dinged paladin with 15k hitpoints with no resilience.
Yea, sry Locks, but this will get somekind of nerf stick, not because Demonology didnt needed a solid buff, but because Blizzard prolly will think the absurb execute burst of 5-6 Decimations locks, will have to high impact on some fights. Decimation will prolly end up as 30% ish haste buff for soulfire.

in 3.3 decimation will be procing anytime, since on dummy's u don't "really" dmg it.
Tested it myself on live server, 3.2.2.
decimate didn't proc at all, therefor in 3.3 i believe they're making it so it proc all the time.

Well I work it out to be 45% haste, that's with decimation and full bane. However you cut it, that's a lot of haste, in fact it's about 1400 haste rating

why qq , decimate only works under 35% hp and need sb debuff on the target first , its like the drain soul from affliction skilld locks and no one qq about affli locks , nothing will change with this patch , and btw demo already got nerfed on the prt so its still sucks compared to destroction, im looking forward to affliction changes

Yeah demo and affliction are gaining nice damage and dps buffs, the damage on destro will remain the same but the dps will be lower because of the conflag not bursting as high on the first hit. Remember though, with decimation its on the LAST 35% HP of the boss. Bare that in mind other than that looks very promising :)

I think with demonology u should be able to fuse with your demon so that u have permanent demon form.

Meta/ruin #3 (400 or so dps below destro for me)

Destro conflag nerf will knock off a good chunk of the current dps, however demo is being heavily buffed (check EJ/stimulacraft for more info)

no this is a raiding spec.. and before this it was and IS only a starter spec. But my spec went without demo form and i picked up Conflag and picked up decimation for the 35% hp soul fire spamapalooza once u have hit cap it is far more beneficial to go full destro.

Yes Demonology dps did look nice, but you will not be able to soulfire spam a raid boss untill 35% so the other 65% of the health will have to be done shadowbolt spamming which will not have as close as good damage.

Are you using some sort of stop casting macro? I see many of your casts stopping before the end of the Quartz bar, yet the cast still happens. It was my understanding stop casting macros weren't necessary anymore. Please explain, and if so, post the macro plz.

looked at your tree.. still decimation under 35% health.. of coarse dummies will be that low on health.. but it still does not sound realistic in raid encounters

fabrizio: it will be interesting to see how it turns out. alot of these videos are dependent on standing very close range for quicker spell hits. and HUGE spikes in actual dps. from 21k crit down to a staggering 3k hits. it's just too spikey.

but its not dropping to 3k hits, they're actually 7-8k hits if you look properly, the 3k crits would be something else, cant tell because theres too much static in his combat text, but I can tell you for sure when his soulfires hit, its definately not for anything less than 6.5k.

If I wanted to make some kind of epeen dummy benchmark vid I would've ran a few attempts to get RNG crits up. A few times when the dummy hit 35% my DPS broke 10k with 2+ mil damage done.
The vid is just a demonstration, I'm not trying to prove anything or I would've been on the level 60 dummies dropping Immolation Aura. I also had to drop a ton of SP to gem for hit cap.
Raid buffed with 2pc t11 w/Firestone and Soulfire crit chance will be well over 50%. Think about that for a sec.

well i was reading up on warlocks den about the meta spec now. this one guy was saying how good it was for his guild. so i tried it tonight. i had the gear and hit, but demon now just makes me look like a chump on the dps meters. f that. also this spell rotation is stupid. i kept getting clumsy with the shadow bolt and soulfire rotation.
if they are buffing this tree then destro will also be buffed. i had already seen word that affliction was being worked on .but f that too

It's good AoE for fights like Anub'Arak or Ony, it's terrible for tank and spank fights like Patchwerk and the rotation is so boring. If you've got like 4000 spell dmg it'd be worth going Demo for the raid buff if you've got a lot of casters.
Aff is getting buffed and Destro will still be competitive but Demo will at least have a niche. Meta needs to be a permanent form.

Yeah you do high damage with soulfire,but that spell costs alot of soulstones.
The cost would be too much for raids unless they take off the cost of the soulstone

With rated BG` s i still see this as op in pvp. Current decimation can be dragged to the next mob; ie, proc it on 1 player and then spam 1.5 secs, 20k crits for the next 8 seconds - it will be very easy to keep this proc up in bgs. A better solution could be; procs after 3 shadowbolts at 100% hp, after 2 shadowbolts at 50% and after 1 sb at 35%. Just let it proc, like it does on ptr so there wont be any problems wth travel time etc.

Actually, Soul Fire is proccing Decimation - it's in the current patch notes; Shadowbolt, Incinerate and Soul Fire can all proc Decimation.

Yes, but the proc occurs when Soulfire lands on the target and is supposed to be consumed when the spell is cast. It's not like Shatter where you can double-dip.
If you look at my buff bar you'll see it remains behind Meta and is never consumed.

Looks like Decimation has been changed to an 8 second buff instead of just applying to your next Soulfire.

the damage of soulfire isn't changed, just the way decimation works. the crits you're seeying here are from good pve gear sported by a pve spec while stacking cooldowns.
you might want to think things over before you start whining. oh, my highest nonstaged soulfire crit so far in WSG was 32.448, obviously need a nerf! just because its a high number!
while actually I used pve gear, flasked, got berserking and shot an unsuspecting newly dinged paladin with 15k hitpoints with no resilience.

Yea, sry Locks, but this will get somekind of nerf stick, not because Demonology didnt needed a solid buff, but because Blizzard prolly will think the absurb execute burst of 5-6 Decimations locks, will have to high impact on some fights. Decimation will prolly end up as 30% ish haste buff for soulfire.
