"you ruined everything, you always do." This comment is interesting because they just met. There's a sense that the three women have always known each other--they are three sections of a whole person.
That woman in the truck played in American Graffiti. She went to the river with that boy, I can't think of his name, the one who wanted a pint of Old Harper. The kid who went to Vietnam, Toad.
@voluminoushead888 I was talking about Shelley Duvall, She's a fabulous actress, but they made her look so homely in this movie. I love her in The Shining. She's really not ugly in other movies. I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry.
@Sheri451 Well, I wouldn't say I'm offended. Your talking about the character, I know that. I think just the oposite of what you've expressed here,.. that she looks pretty good in this flick but was really shitty looking in The Shining.
@voluminoushead888 Yes she was, but she's a great actress in anything she makes. I wonder if she's retired from acting, I haven't saw her in anything since I believe she made those Fairy tale Theaters in the 80s on Showtime.
Maybe Millie should have jumped in the pool because maybe she could have gained some attention that way. It's funny, Pinky seems to always get attention from people. People never ignore Pinky.
I think Millie is channeling her old room mate. Millie wants to be the one in control, and she thinks that Pinky is somehow weaker than she is, so she thinks she can boss Pinky around. Millie actually reminds me a lot of this girl I know.
The second shot shows old people descending slowly into the exercise pool -- returning to the water from where their lives began. A wavy line that drifts across the screen from time to time might be an umbilical cord. Willie's sinister images live at the bottom of the swimming pool, and at a crucial turning point Pinky jumps into the pool from the balcony, is knocked out, rescued, and taken to the hospital.

Roger Ebert's Great Movie Review (7/12)
*May contain spoilers*
There is water all through the movie. Altman says the opening shot represents the amniotic fluid surrounding a fetus.

@dorsaiofdorsai Why are people giving this a thumbs down? Idiots. Ebert rules. You all suck.

I don't know....
I thought I was providing a service by posting his Great Movie review.
You'd think that the insights if a PULITZER PRIZE WINNING CRITIC would be more than welcomed on such a confusing movie.
