  • This is what I want! Not the light fightings that you see in lots of videos.

  • i wish there were these events where i live. Id love to participate in one, or at least watch one. Historical warfare was always a big interest of mine

  • Those are some good graphics, where can I download the mod? :D

  • yes its a real fight. Ilike that too!

  • @sigvard01

    so...one of them died?

  • 1:25 da fuck??

  • Welcome to our site for everybody who loves Middle Ages

    middleagestoday. com

  • Well as for no documentation for shield wall used by the Norse i suggest you do a bit more research, there is plenty of evidence in chronicles of the time from multiple sources.

  • @LordOwenLongstrider couple things... first off, if they aren't metal ya really shouldn't be calling it a sword. You are using sticks and clubs. Secondly, unlike many others who do similar combat to ours, we are not just tapping each other. Not full force swings, granted... but we don't wear plate either... and are also bruised up afterwards, see, its a fine line between control and mayhem...

  • @skallagrimm I will agree; I never said you'll were 'tap fighting" and I never meant for my comment to imply that you'll do. I only said that to tell the person I was replying to that we in the SCA don't "tap fight" either. Not to insult or argue with you, I have full respect for all of you'll, but we call them "swords" and "axes", etc. because they look like such weapons. We use rattan because it is safer, for us atleast. Let's just say we use "sword-like weapons"; agree to disagree, ok?

  • Right on, LordOwenLongstrider. Best of luck to you...

  • @skallagrimm you guys are the best of what i have seen, ive seen many who are very lazy in their reenactments but u guys are more active in screaming and running and more ACTIOn :D

  • @skallagrimm *AMEN!* :3

  • Comment removed

  • i like the guy who runs all the way around the cluster of men around :30

  • I like it how they act out the hits and consequent injuries!

    Nice show!

  • sorry, but i lold at 1:22 for that poor woman.

  • bah where is the blood and flying guts? :p

  • it reminded me of the M&B

  • Are those Welsh people I see at 1:15?

    Welsh Vikings kick ass...

  • how did you get in to this and how could o get involved in something like this i would be very intrestted in geting hit by blunted metal but have had no luck find a group so far

  • @swordplay4 Depends, Where are you located?

  • hahahahaha did u see that one guy run away from the fight ahahahaha!!!

  • these guys make LARPER's look like assholes

  • Wheres Ezio?

  • what is the website?

  • Was that a picnic or what!

  • How do you make your arrow tips?

  • if i was a viking or a knight, i'd use dual shields and pwn everyone with my dual smashing boards.

  • Thats awesome. I wish I had the time to do this stuff

  • That was a lot of shouting. :]

    Nicely skilled combatants, aswell. :]

  • I don't remember seeing a single video on here featuring you which you haven't one. Haha

  • @666satanification666 there are actually a couple on this channel... try the "No I don't always win" video. This being my channel, it's mostly victories. Also check on our group YouTube channel at 'skjaldborgvikings'.

  • looks like fun :)

  • officially the coolest stuff ever. i am liefr eiriksson for a school project coming up and ive made like a tunic and i have a spear and i made a shield, id be pretty pissed if my shield came out looking like some of yours haha. but i think it would be worth it to have a battle like that :D

  • Someone is gonna lose an eye!

  • nice serbian and danish helmets! really looks awesome

  • HAHA ,this "games" are funny ,nice job with the equipment .One of them really looked like my character

  • I like the flow of the fighting. Often "play" fighting with real weapons are very tentatively and careful. You guys seem to go all out, and it looks close to what I imagine real fighting (where you actually try to hurt/kill) would look like. Kudos.

  • This looks rather cool. Ive only been training japanese martial arts, and training currently Toyama Ryu Iaido, Hontai Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu, Jujutsu kai and Shotokan Karate. I wonder though, what weapons do you use in a viking fight and practice? did vikings dual wield? I can see someone use a 2h axe. I mean apart from the normal shield and 1h weapon. Or was the weapon of choice fully induvidual?

  • @YajimaKenji I dont know about the modern day fighters, but Vikings usually used a Sword (or axe) and a shield, a two-handed axe (dane axe), spears (with or w/o shields) and sometimes throwing weapons. Thats the gear Ive heard about the most, but Im sure it could vary. And vikings didnt have a uniform, so the gear depended on the fighters preference and wealth. And the only European dual-wielding I can think of is in fencing, Epee and dagger.

  • why are some people so militantly against these Vids, if your having fun who gives a fuck ? There seem to be enough spectators for you to not give a shit wat some angry asshole of a youtube commenter, and for the guy that says " Also most viking reenactors where i live are fat and and extremely out of shape none of them do fencing or any form of martial arts." Thats the way it should be, do you think Vikings back from old did martial arts ? No they drank and shit load of mead and got fat

  • @adamarchambault ....yeah, what? The carnival rides? We don't control what's around us at our events.

  • It's looked like you all had fun. Wish I could have been there! :)

  • @carameluz NO, the body is the target and you certainly see us striking the body if you bothered to watch more than one video. But no, go ahead and talk out your ass like most of the morons who have accounts on YouTube for their video games and cartoons. People like you are pathetic excuses and shouldn't even have the opp. to comment on shit they know NOTHING about.

  • hey skallagrimm, answer me one question !!!

what are you showing us here:

no real use of axes, no thrown speers, no ground fighting, no kicks, no punches, no stabbing, no shield-slamming and no injury. how is it possible to fight without injury? what kind of fighting is this? you are twisting the history and all idiots out there believe in this gay sword-dancing.

  • @holmganghamburg Well now it's real obvious what kind of an idiot you are. You haven't watched any of our 200+ videos on here... we do all that and more. And the point about safety and fighting without injuries is to be able to do the other scheduled shows over the rest of the weekend. See, we get paid to do this for the public at events. If you'd like to see how this "kind" of fighting translates, come get some. 'Till then play your patty cake games and leave this to professionals. We got this.

  • @holmganghamburg I hafta agree with you. The techniques theyre doing dont look like ancient european martial arts.

  • @ralphyboy1vikings came suddenly with hit and run tactics. there was no honour. they killed for silver, raped, tooked slaves and ran, whenever it became to critical. a dead person cannot spend the money. how could have these guys fought? hard, fast and dirty of course. (sorry for my poor english) and there are no sources for viking shieldwall tactics. none have been found.

  • @holmganghamburg Yah I think the Saxons or British used shield wall taticts against the vikings though.

  • @ralphyboy1 for sure. but these guys only know one single formation.

  • @ralphyboy1 Niether of you know shit, obviously. With thousounds of Viking reenactor groups around the world, and you guys aren't part of any of them yet you think you have some sort of insight into what it is we do. Ha, I laugh at you idiots who think you know something and who do a lot of talking.... but what do you do? You talk smack on YouTube because you have no ability to back up any of your mouth.

  • @skallagrimm Yout talking smack on youtube too And what ability do you have to back it up. Also most viking reenactors where i live are fat and and extremely out of shape none of them do fencing or any form of martial arts.

  • @ralphyboy1 listen goob, all I do is call a spade a spade and obviously we aren't like what you've seen before. I can back up everything I say and have been more than accomadating to anyone who'd like to try. Still no takers.... so shut your hole. if you don't know 'bout me, you'd better ask someone that does.

  • @skallagrimm You guys need a banner 'The Landwaster'

  • @zrah1092 actually we have a raven banner.

  • at first, sorry for my poor english.

this is not more than fancy carneval and a shame for real sword fighters. come to us and fight with sharp blades you viking fakes. try full contact axe fighting and stop this pussy-show for weekend warriors. because of you we have got all this hollywood shit and idiots at the medieval markets. fuck off with your fashion show. history lives in our heads, not in form of authentic clothing and fake fights.

  • @holmganghamburg fuck you and you're poor English. You obviously don't know what you're even looking at. These are not fake fights, but they are tamed down to make them safe.... mostly for the public. We don't do the British style fighting here, it's as much like what you do as anything. At least that's what your Mom told me last night. And she says you should stop being an arrogant, know nothing prick. Good luck to you, hack.

  • Wy is all reanactment shield so thin?

It would be fun to spit arrows at them together whit 20 archers.

  • I can realize being annoyed by all these nerds thinking they know how to fight, but do you really have to act like such a badass? Regardless of any of this, I am glad these recreations take place and carry on the tradition of awesomeness.

  • Curious why the spear fighters (see 0:06) have their right hand at the butt. That hand position takes the butt spike out of action unless there is a hand repositioning - not something you'd want to do in the middle of fighting. Also it makes it easier for the opponent to shield-parry the spearhead to the spearman's left, trapping the right hand against the body allowing a step inside for a strike at the head right torso. Also it that position only allows a lunge and not a slash. (?)

  • @ATinNM Hey goofball, there are no buttspikes on Viking Age spears. And what do you know about what is good or bad to do during fighting? Full of advice like most dumbasses on here, but nothing to show for it. Go back to playing with dolls and watching cartoons, ...we got this.

  • Is this larping?

  • @shorty962 put it this way, LARP hopes to be this cool someday but will never quite get there... THIS is the original Live Steel Combat group SKJALDBORG. This video is made up of numerous events over about three years time back in the early 00's.

  • @skallagrimm You don't have like, a character sheet or anything like that, right? Cause if it's just a bunch of friends chillin sword fighting that sounds like fun. Larping is just ridiculous.

  • @shorty962 No, we do the research to be able to 'represent' a Viking from the different areas they traveled to within their three hundred year run, but we don't play act or anything like that. We talk normal and go by our own names at events. I suppose it's just when we do our combat that we 'play' it up a bit.... though I do growl and yell alot regardless of how I'm armored, or what weapons I'm using.

  • @chileconcarnage Dude, we are from the middle of the U.S. Mostly out of Omaha and Lincoln areas of Nebraska, but we have members all over the midwest. From Missouri to Minnesota and from Colorado to Ohio.

  • samurai vs viking

  • @samuraioj the samurai doesn't stand a chance against an actual Viking.

  • Damn, we need something like this where I live. And lots of people to do it.

    Looks fun as hell

  • This is entertainment. :)

  • i do beleive they hit quite hard because some of their sheilds are quite banged up

  • some kid at my school does this:

    I wonder what it's like.

IF IT WAS ME, I'D THROW MY SWORD AT HIS DOME, DUCK DOWN, and get in a sweet DOUBLE LEG!!!

    SOWOOP

    JK

i seriously wonder how physically taxing it is to do something like this. that's a lot of stuff to put on

  • @deemon16 That is a very common move, easy to read, deflect and counter.

  • @krullboll

Really? People actually try/tried that? LOL!

But yea I was wondering how taxing is it on your body...

Because I mean really. That's A LOT of stuff to wear and try to fight in. Granted your not throwing full on Kill Shots prolly would even be more tiresome cuz you gotta slow yourself down before you hit them (the kid said that they try to make it look as real as possible but still keep it safe).

    I wouldn't mind giving this a try I guess.

  • very. i'm part of a group in Ohio and we try to fight once a month to stay in shape. my chain mail is 30lb. Helm 17lb shield 10 lb sword 3lb so alot to fight in

  • dang! about 50 lbs?!

do you wear the clothing too? how much does that weigh?

uhhh... my singlet weighs like .25 lbs.

  • yeah soon i'ma get a Gambeson to go under the Mail

  • wats a Gambeson?!

  • @deemon16 like some kind of coat with really big wool in it, it protects erm... a bit vs contandant weapons

  • To be honest chainmail isnt all that heavy when its on. I'm a reenactor and was lucky enough to get training wth someone from Joms at York. The hardest thing in my opnion is 'not' winning haha honestly it can be easy or terribly difficult but show me any guy who says he wasent scared on his first major event when you have 300 angry saxons screaming at you (Fulford-we won) good video..when in doubt, try it, guest an event with us :)

  • @StueyLestrange

    Cool.

I'll definitely try to do that if my schedule permits.

  • whats your helm type?? it looks VERY VERy cool especially the little plume

  • if people think we fighters are lame then why do they look at it

  • The SCA looks fun and cool but its not really "full speed fighting" cuz I gotta admit that some of the videos ive seen are very repeatative, prod them a few times with your sword, swing overhead, they block it and make a return strike and it goes back and forth until someone stumbles, granted though that there are some SCA fighters who go fully realistic, but most SCA combat is just wrapping swings and prodding, also SCA isnt much for realism, their safety rules are too limiting to be realistic

  • SCA is for mainly a hobby, Live Steel is a performance

  • The spear in left hand and sword in right seems like a interesting combination, I've seen an Berserker depicted in a picture in exactly the same way. Any advantages?

  • well you have more controll of the sword in close quarters if your right handed, and you get reach and can keep the enemy at a distance with the spear in the left, i also saw a viking that had a long spear but while holding the longspear he also held a shortsword along the shaft of the spear, in close combat he threw the spear at the enemy and then slashed em.

looked awesome but not sure how effective it really is:P

  • Hmm, I'm not honestly sure, I mean, SCA looks more ... full on? Something like that, admittedly, not exactly authentic with the plastic, tape and other bits and pieces but they do seem to really go for it. To me it seems you guys are holding back - which makes sense, you know, the metal weapons and all might be a little dangerous if you started really going for it :\

Great video though, but did look kind of staged, most of the attraction of sword fighting (to me) is the challenge of a fight.

  • something like this would look better if it was lots of people bunched up so its all moving and u dont oncentrate on one person

  • By all means, come to one of our events and you'll find more of a challenge than you can handle.

And you'll leave completely intact, but with a few bruises for sure.

  • The Black Knight always triumphs!

  • @TheArtofUTube there is no knights! Fuck ,Vikings warriors but not knights....

  • @aznar1988 None shall pass!

  • @TheArtofUTube Say Gandalf

  • @aznar1988 Then you shall die!

  • @TheArtofUTube O.o what the fuck?

  • @aznar1988 More Black Knight quotes!

  • id rather do this anyday than do that stupid version people do with helmets and padding

  • i like how almost all of them are fat ( pc nerds.. yup)

  • PC nerds are fat and weak...i can assure you these guys are strong. Fat because they like beer and food...but strong...i'd be very pleased to see you face one of them in combat...hahaha...anyway the numerous and thick layers of protection add to the volume (and someone to light might just be smashed in a combat...you better be at least a little thick to do real combat... )..."pc nerds"...haha you're funny...

  • dude

.. they are fat u can see that, end of the story. i dont need a big story of yours cuz i wont read it anyways.

  • Yep, 'tis a fact: they are fat...but not necessrly from beeing pc nerds... these guys obviously prefer real stuff than virtual ones...

  • least he LOOKS like a viking with that girth though it doesnt seem to hamper him at all, and girth = weight which equals lots of momentum and sheer bodily force when it comes to possible grapples ^.~

  • did anyone see that guys sheild at 1:05 ?

  • i am not trying to be offensive like tinytim1184, but it just really looks fake and planned out. I do agree that the SCA isnt the most authentic organization at all but they actually fight. remember no offense intended would just like to throw in my 2cents

  • That's fine, I'll see your two cents and raise you...

None of it's "planned out" but it's done in a way to make it safe for ALL the people around the world who take part in steel weapon combat. It's not for just any boob who can swing a stick as hard as possible. Or hop around on one leg. It's meant to be a safe way to hit someone with little or no armor, using more accurate weapons than have ever been used at an SCA event.

I've done what you do, you all should try this before speaking.

  • thankyou and i am not a SCA member by the way i fight with steel weapon but because we are wearing plate most of the time we dont have to be as careful and i generally agree with your view of the SCA.

  • Respect to you, then.

  • Not to mention, we fight for an audience at public events. Not to see who's gonna be king, or head hostenfeffer, or whatever.

It's a show, entertainment for the masses but done authentically, and safely, with attention to details about clothing, armor, weapons, lifestyles, family heritage, Living History,....

we don't take the time to wear the proper clothes etc. then go out and fight in full plate, with sticks.... what the hell IS that all about?

Wanna' be bad, fight with no armor.

  • I assume you're getting your hairs up since there's probably a lot of people saying you're not really fighting.

Saying if you want to be bad, fight with no armor is silly. You're play fighting at reduced speed and being careful about control.

You have to be, I know. But don't pretend it's anything incredibly dangerous or more serious than SCA heavy combat.

I am not pretending that heavy fighting is extremely authentic. But being able to go full out has its place in authenticity.

  • I've said all I need to say. The SCA is ridiculous at it's best. And you can think clubbing someone to the head with a stick is more authentic than a slightly slowed down steel fight all you want. You'd be wrong,.... but this isn't the first time for you is it?

  • I take full contact into consideration when dealing with realism.

You're just coming off as if yours is more than play fighting at half speed. Blunted weapons and little to no technique does not mean it's real. Countering that, just because heavy fighters in the SCA go hard, does not make it more real.

Most of the kits look great though, I'll give ya that. And I'm guessing someone has just pushed your buttons a lot.

I won't reply again, to each their own.

  • Play fighting? Half speed? Only when contacting the body with a steel weapon. Otherwise we move and fight just as fast as you can. I appreciate where you're coming from, but you are just another SCA guy who thinks everything non-SCA is somehow inferior. That's okay though, 'cuz we all think that of you guys too.

Yes thanks, our kits are awesome.... because they are handmade to be historically correct and don't include carpet, duct tape, or black spray paint.

    Good luck to you.

  • this or the sca hmmm well to tell you the truth this is buy far some of the most fake looking crap i have ever seen looks to me like a bunch of no talent boobs swinging tin swords at each others beer guts in the sca we hit each other hard we spend years profcting our fighting styles to match the time period we are fighting in we create our fuctional armor to look period i mean when it comes down to it

  • the SCA hevey fighters may not use live steel but then again if i do a quick tally for you We hit each other harder we look better doing what we do we reinact the time period more acuretly and safely o and there are more of us than you why because what we do is a life style it takes time to learn and recreate like we do the SCA fighters are dedacated to looking good not retarted so befor you start talking a bunch of shit you should really get your fucking facts strait you no talent piece ofshit

  • Heavy fighters?.... bitch please!!! I'll not only talk shit about you pussy, but anyone else you want to bring with you....

Come out to an event of ours. We've been inviting wannabe's like you for years and NEVER get any takers.... it's easy to talk shit on the 'puter, but try showing up and proving your words. Many of us would welcome the chance to let you show us what you think you've got.... come on bitch, don't just talk about it, come and show ME!!!

  • id love to, dont expect much authenticity from me, since my kit would be whatever i can cobble together. bu id LOVE to compete in that. EXCEPT i live in australia. but i am SOO friggen jealous. also, you seem to often emulate the varangian guard, the imperial troops of my ancestors the byzantines, glad to see SOMEONES interested in our era ( i dont see much byzantine style

if i EVER do sca (yeah i know) or live steel, i think your style seems REALLY effective.

  • It's not as hard to start as you think. You can make your own Mail shirt by purchasing 14guage galvanized steel from the hardware store. coil it, and cut. you can make your own shirt from there. Most of us wear a padded gambeson underneath to protect from the hard, or mislaid shots. The hardest thing to acquire is a helm. I use the Valgarde 6 because it's authentic, and provides excellent protection. I also recommend a pair of bazzebonds.

  • For the love of Frea man, the New Varangian Guard are right there in Australia with you. That's where I got the bulk of my info nearly fifteen years ago. Look up a guy named Eggfroth, he was very helpful to me.

  • btw what are bazzbonds??

  • Yeah, I saw that too. Bazzubands are a version of lower arm protection that was used with plate arm harness'. They come up above the elbow on the back of the arm and protect down to the wrist.

They are not Viking period, but some groups will make leather versions for wrist and forearm protection. We generally choose to train enough so as to not need them and prefer to include the lower arm as a potential target... can't do that with a big leather bazzuband there.

  • so... theyre essentially bracers that go abit longer and can partly protect the hand, that reminds me of japanese kote (gauntlets) where the ones, especially those used by lighter troops and ninja included the bracer, and a clamshell/dome shaped piece of metal that covered the back of the hand, for an example, look up makimachi misao

  • so befor you start talking a bunch of shit you should really get your fucking facts strait you no talent piece ofshit

    Take your own advice.

  • SCA= Real Meaning SILLY CLUBBING AMATEUR. You know what you said that sounds so great coming from a brochure but we know the reality does not fit the bill. As in fake? well plastic or carpet armor? or jumping on one leg like he was a reject from Monty Python and real period and fighting styles shit I saw more period fighting in a Xena episode.

  • In a Xena episode? Monty Python? You really gotta get out more... Away from that TV of yours.

  • apparently you didn't get the sarcasm.

  • Apparently not... my bad bro =/

But hey, thanks for reminding me about Monty Python. It was my pop's b-day and I didn't know what to get him. He loves Monty Python.

  • Brutal :D

  • If you don't believe me go to an SCA Event or Fighter Practice and try out our version of fighting with Rattan Swords and see which you like better. At fighter practices there are ususally loaner armor. Just make sure to take your own athletic cup.

  • The Vikings used to pull ships together out on the ocean with a hook and rope and then tie them together so they could fight each other on the ships. Sometimes as many as 20 to 50 Viking ships and became a floating Island.

  • Trust me when I tell you, there is nothing Viking related that we need your help in. Who are you even talking to?

More fun? The SCA is for posers and wankers....

And to come on here and try to sell the SCA on MY channel. What the fuck are you thinking? Take your love for the SCA and cram it sideways up your own arse!!!!

  • Great Dane Viking ';' I am

  • Let me guess you watched that pathetic tv show Deadliest Warrior? and take as fact is laughable or maybe that is a reflection of you own self. Instead of watching bad tv comedy like deadliest warrior try to read a book and do your own research but I guess that would be to hard for a brain dead spike tv watcher.

  • Barbarians? To me that is a classifacation given by frivolous sophisticates. They are men. Just like any other man in the military. They were very brutal. And that is why they were feard. I dont think you can speak with such a brave tounge to thier face.

  • Guys, give him a break. He's merely an ignorant dumbass.

  • yet you do not call people like the spartans barbarians?

  • This guy clearly has no concept of real war. Probably has yellow fever to boot. This is the sad thing about the world. They are completely ignorant of how real war was fought in history. They just believe all the terrible completely inaccurate films on tv.

  • Where do you hold your renactments?

  • Throughout the midwest....Nebraska, and Iowa mostly but we also visit other groups in Missouri, Indiana, Minnesota,....etc.

  • Would you be willing to fight against Native American weapons such as the Tomahawk and various war clubs?

  • hell yes!! We've always hoped to someday include Native American warriors in the shieldwall. What do you have in mind?

  • VIKINGS!

  • So.. i wanna make sure i understand what i see here, your pulling shots prior to impact, and blows are accepted in an honor system similar to the SCA, but otherwise all fights are live? Im not sure i have the nutz to fight against a steel boar spear blunted or not...

  • in historical re-enacment there is a thing called calebration pretty much hitting them so they know that they are hit but not so it hurts them

  • Larping looks sweet! I would do this if there was one near me. It's just like theater.

  • Just to clarify, this isn't LARP. We don't put on 'personas', talk in funny voices, or use different names. It's just us in different clothes and with swords.

The specific terminology is historical re-enactment, but that's about as 'labeled' as we like to get. We do our thing, other people do theirs.

No big deal, but I thought you should be aware of the difference.

  • i would love to do this

  • Awesome!

  • It reminds me of a Bank Holiday Monday in Weston super Mare.

  • Really? I was thinking that it reminds me of a day at Pennies while at the Westroads.... ...know what I mean?

  • fucking nice......

  • everybody knows that after viking age ,when the viking were known as all pirates of the baltic sea ,there is no other warriors going to valhalla than Polish, all east (Russia,Bialorus,Ukraine),and few Germans .

Odin dont want people with no skills and heart !

  • And now everbody knows you're a stupid Polock.

  • What the hell is "Polock"??

I agree with that your skills are less than "not good". It's even don't loock like real fight.

  • Well, your profile says you live in Poland. You type and probably think like a twelve year old, and you have no vids of your own to show you have any right to say shit about what we do.... so, YOU are a Polock.

By the way, since you are one you're probably not familiar with the Polock jokes we Americans love to make up at your expense.... oh, and tell your Mom I said "hello".

  • I can say shit about what you do. I know how should loock like shieldwall, how loocks real fight, and i'm study archeology and history to know how vikings loocked like. And YOU're not loocks like vikings do, you don't fight like they could. I agree with you... all what you do is shit!

  • See what I mean.... you're actually a waterhead Polock to boot.

Please, do share with all of us just how you think a Viking fight should look. Since you have no vids of your own, this should be interesting.

  • Bearded axe at :40!

  • As a matter of fact, it's not a bearded axe. It's actually the upswept profile style of axe. Not bearded, but it is hard to tell details on some of these vids.

  • Yeah, on second look I think you're right. It was so long I figured it had to be a Danish Axe. More of a polarm than an axe, really.

  • Ummm, you 'think' I'm right? Not all Danish axes are bearded.

I KNOW this to be a Daneaxe, NOT a later polearm because....

    1) It's my video.

    2) It's my friend who's using it, as an A.D. 900 Anglodane.

    3) Oh, and I MADE the axe ten years ago.

    ...Just to clarify

  • Ok, no need to get angry. When I said it was "more of a polearm" I simply meant that it's longer than the average axe, even a two-handed one.

  • Whoooaaah. Who's angry? I'm just clarifying so there is no mistake.

  • dude you made that? thats pretty nice. im looking to get a nice custom made bearded axe. i found one guy in maine willing to make me one for 175. not bad considering the price of a mass produced axe and all.

  • Haha, you're right. They're for pushing the front line. Not climbing trees and scouting.

  • Even though thats rude to say, ill answer your question, half of the population that re-enact Medieval tend to be over weight, probably cause the only time they move around is when they dress up and swing cheap sword replicas. Now being fat isnt always a bad thing either, im sure they are able to throw their weight into their attacks for more power. Dont be hatin on the fattys yo.

  • Too true Dome -

Fortunately, I'm an exception to that rule... Gym 6 days of the week at 2 hours each day and surfing on the 7th day ... every week, without fail.

But, Dome, you're right... Most of my re-enactment guild is heavyset ---
