@23Elmorrito Of course this kind of thing happens everywhere. But the point the documentary is making is that Cancun has an endemic problem of catastrophic proportions. In Cancun child prostitution is not the exception the way it is in "anglophone" countries. The level of "normality" that it has achieved is such that many people cannot even begin to fathom it. You have to be there to understand. And "be there" means "keep your eyes open and pay attention", not "hide behind a wall of naivety."
Mexico is a corrupt dump, end of story....when you're a catholic, you can do anything and ask God for forgiveness. That and the fact that the people dont seem to have the guts for a real revolution which they desperately need. Then again, the leaders are a bunch of macho aholes who dont believe in education or democracy. Typical problem with latin cultures. Just like the Italians, except they finally learned their lesson, and have gone after their criminal element. Mexico is a criminal nation.
@TheRealCritique So the United States is a paradise? It's a European thing, this kind of thing happens in the U.S. and Canada as well, always towards the indigenous. Well i suggest you look at your own countries history, if you're speaking English all the anglo-phone colonies have this problem.
@23Elmorrito I never said the US is a paradise. However, Mexico is a ridiculous mess. Both countries suffer from rich elites that basically need to be removed.
Lets put kids faces and black them out, or blur them out. So we think they are all victims. Guess what assholes. This happens everywhere, Right in the good ol US of A.
so give me a fucking break.
I DARE YOU to show us the real victims. Blur thier faces. Lets see how many "victims' you find. Like anything, this is media sensationalism at it's finest. Have it happen to one or two kids, and all of a sudden it's a fucking pandemic. *rolls eyes.
the guys that made this vid. are a well known organization. they rescued all those "kids w blurred faces." cancun's government is so currupt that less than 1% of child sexual abuse/prostitution charges are investigated, yet it tries to pretend this isn't a big problem. This does happen in the US, just not in the huge proportions with which it happens in cancun. private parties with 7-year-old virgins? if that doesn't make your blood boil, there's something wrong w you. you want real victims?
type "lydia cacho" into google, see what you come up with. btw, the kids in this video are a REAL VICTIMS who've been through hell. how dare you disrespect them this way. and if this stuff happens everywhere, including the good ol US of A, then shame on you and every other american who isn't doing everything they can to stop it. where do you come off having moral authority to criticize people who are risking their lives to denounce a major problem in their city?
btw, the blurred faces is to comply with mexican law, and because you wouldn't want your face all over the internet if you'd been a child prostitute. if you wanna pretend that this stuff isn't real, go hide your head in the sand like an ostrich and let thousands of innocent little children suffer. but leave those who are trying to do something alone. all you need is to walk the streets of cancun, if you want to find child prostitutes in action. hundreds of them.
@porcelaindoll556 WellYeah who owns Cancun? The Untied States and Spain, colonialism never ended, this is jsut another sympton of the madness Colombus brought us.
@23Elmorrito Columbus is irrelevant. As Mexicans we can't keep on making excuses for our country by blaming it on others. The truth is that the child sex trade exists because there is demand, and much of that demand comes from foreign countries. But the pimps who use these children are Mexican, the authorities who protect prostitution rings are Mexican, and the population which has become complicit by tolerating this situation is also Mexican. Why do you want to blame Americans?
Wow... so you're the expert eh? Yes, it's true that this happens all over the world. However, the reality is that State and Federal Police in 3rd world countries are far more likely to accept bribes or look the other way. If / when this happens in a first world country and it is found out ?... People start talking... quick. I am as likely to visit Cancun as I would Juarez or Tijuana....lol. We must hand it to Felipe Calderon for cracking down on the cartels. He is one courageous dude.
