Do you think backstage in their SNL dressing room, they thought they just rocked millions of TV veiwers and would still be here today 17 years later???
watching this very same video on some tape I found around the house and ran to buy the record and being kinda dissapointed cause this is even better then the actual record!
Pearl Jam is (by far) the most wonderful rockband that i've ever seen... and i've seen a lot. Ten album save my life, realy. They play what they fells. Like ed says... "i was alone,... and far away, hey.. when i heard the band start playin..." I'm still alone, but i fell better now :)
the way they look, the way they move, ummm the way he talks when he's not singing, their horrible grungey dress sense haha. The only people i've seen in real life who look like this shower are homeless.
Brilliant I agree - or probably even better than the B word. This is legendary. In regard to their clothes and whatnot: It's in the beginning of the 90's or so. What did you expect? That they would dress for the future? ;)
Eddie plays guitar on some songs. Sometimes he'll come out before the opening act and play a few songs solo with the harmonica around the neck thing- it's pretty cool.
dude why did people give u thumbs down? I don't remotely agree with u but why do people have to dismiss a negative comment about the band? Ur intitalled to ur opinion
ppl dnt like 2 admit that abbruzzese is a better drummer than krusen, irons or cameron...
pearl jam were at there best when they had a groove going as the backbone of their songs (via dave a, gossard and jeff ament) now wit cameron his beats are simple punk beats with gay lil fills, and his approach doesnt suit the band, if he stayed wit the same style he had in soundgarden then everything would b fine
I first saw this many years ago, when it was first on SNL. At the time, I had never heard Pearl Jam at all.. This performance blew me away and I've searched for it all these years to show up again somewhere. THANK YOU!! for this, I LOVE it!
Hey, Hey, Hey...calm the fuck down and take your medication. It's stupid to even compare the two. One is in the underground tradition of grunge and the other is in the hard rock tradition of grunge. They're based on complety different sensibilities of rock and both were the best of their respectitve backgrounds.

i've always liked nirvana better. they died when i was four so i don't have the whole "this band is the most popular" thing going on either. they just sound better. i connect better to them. they revolve around death and sarcasm. they're a dark band. pearl jam always has some big meaning to their songs. the big ones that i know. the two grungies i liked best died. AiC and Nirvana. soundgarden split up. PJ is still here. the one i like the least. interesting. in my mind at least.
lovely solo in this performance, one of my favorite, and don't start fights on these comments it makes you look like an idiot when you criticize someones comment.
eddie vedder's voice is awesome. i hate that, of the four really big grunge bands - alice in chains, nirvana, pearl jam, and soundgarden - nirvana's the one that got the most notice. the other three were incredible bands. RIP Layne Staley.
bassface...i think nirvana got the most notice within youths in the 90s. becuase they released alot of emotions in there music tht many teens felt aswell. thats why they got the most notice in my opinion. becuase it had such an impact on teens overall it was noticed by the press etc and they became huge that wway. each band u mentioned gave off an impact in a different way.
Can people stop turning this into a Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam thing, people who prefer Nirvana must be just as petty and insecure as Kurt Cobain if they feel the need to mention Nirvana on Pearl Jam videos.Pearl Jam have outlived all that grunge rivalry crap to be the greatest band in the world,Nirvana on the other hand...
