If Leach can build good teams with small budgets and recruitment disadvantages, then he's exactly the man Washington State needs. Have a chuckle at the Pullman-Moscow Regional "Airport" when you get there, Coach. I know I did. It's about the size of an Applebee's.
Dont get me wrong, Tuberville is a good coach but leach was a great one. I just want our team to go to a better bowl this year. We need to be alittle more aggressive on offense and pay more attention to our secondary if we want to get the spotlight on us. Still a Red Raider till the end. Bleed red and black! GUNS UP!
Leach made Tech a relevant program. They were fun to watch and merited national attention. When will the spotlight ever be on Lubbock like that again? I'd venture to guess never.
As a person who attended Tech games from 1996-2009 I can tell everyone here that the type of football we saw in the last 5 years of Leach's career were never seen before in that town of Lubbock, Texas. We almost went to a national championship in 2008, I can't even describe the atmospheres that season created in Lubbock. The man is clearly a great mind. It's as simple as that.
@gregpasq you have a great point. Texes Tech has 0 conference titles in Leach's time. Actually now that I think of it....I'll just hire him as my QB/Wide Receivers coach lol
Thank you Coach for the best Tech football. What will we miss? Michael Lewis says it best in this video. "If you look at what Mike Leach has done for players, what he has gotten out of players, it is, it's like magic. Oh, Mike Leach has had a huge intellectual influence on the sport already. If you look at a Big 12 football game now versus 10 years ago, is an entirely different event. That's because everybody is watching Mike Leach's offence. He's young. Just wait. God Help You".
I truly feel that considering the guys the Raiders draft (fast athletic borderline track stars), the culture/attitude of the Raiders, and the dedication to winning with the long ball, that Mike Leach would be a perfect fit as their head coach. Plus his love of pirates doesn't hurt either.
I'm an Oklahoma fan but I love Mike Leach. His teams are the most consistently fun to watch with the way they throw that ball around. He's also the only coach in the Big 12 that has beaten Oklahoma and texas with any consistency. He's also the best interview in sports. In 1999 he was our offensive coordinator and I'm proud that he was a part of our team. Love ya Mike!
yeah they lost the bowl game but they still had a badass season and crabtree officially replaces desmond howard for "the catch". Interview was informative and reflective of record breaking season. U will C crabby and Ghrammy on sundays in nfl 4sho. GO BOWS!

Seems that the Raiders had a victory interview before they won the game. Thats what you get for being cocky. Surely they should have known this after beating Texas.
What happened to the Husky fans who were saying that it is impossible for WSU to hire Leach?
Just wait and watch. And, in the mean time you guys can help Nick Holt edit his resume!

Good thing Scott Pelley came back to Lubbock to his Alma Mater and interview Mike Leach while he could.

Husky fan here. Great job Cougs, no bull. Sark has got to kick it up a notch. Fun for CFB in the PacNW and the Pac-12.

Texas Tech will always regret this decision. Tommy Tuberville is a great coach but only Mike Leach could make Texas Tech's offense what it was.

Texas Tech was taking the "rejects of other schools" because Leach wasn't recruiting as well as Tuberville is now.
Leach showed up to the2008 TTU v UT football camp-out with pizza for all the students.
I really hope he gets a chance to coach at a competitive school again, any University/Student Body would be lucky to have him.

Leach transformed Texas Tech....but at the begining of this piece it says that Texas Tech is a "powerhouse"....that's a little bit of a stretch.....

if my team needed a coach i'd hire him!!! Teach our QB's to throw 400+ yards per game, please???
jeffbrister2004 1 year ago
@jeffbrister2004
And what is that supposed to do? Throwing for a gazillion yards does nothing without a good running game and defense.....

He may have personality but this guy doesn't know how to handle off the field issues which is why he will never lead Tech to glory! \m/

yes, Graham harrell, Cliff Kingsbury, Mike crabtree, and Wes Welker would not have been as unusually good if they had not been tought Leachs offense.
