  • And this, is the secret of the transformers.

  • Cut the wire in half, stick both pieces in hot water, watch as the pieces magically come back together and fuse, explode in amazement.

  • I have the same toothbrush!

  • real life ctrl + z. no longer a dream

  • PAL KEY

    MGS

  • So how do you get it to set in a position in the first place?

  • @XxLeurxX The position that the metal returns to must be "set" at an elevated temperature. When you deform it at a lower temperature, and then reheat it, it "remembers" what its original shape was and returns back to it.

  • @XxLeurxX Bend it, burn it, then submerge it in cool water, I think.

  • Alien Tech!!!

  • My materials lecturer brought some of this stuff to class... looked like an innocuous length of wire then she dropped it in hot water it spelled out the word "HOT" haha

  • @RenegadeFightah not at UoA are you? In Bryony James class?

  • @spoolinmike Sure am :) She's my favourite lecturer so far.

  • maybe they cant use it in jet engine cus of the atmospheric pressure and heat because I think memory shaping alloys can solve the problem of scramjet being used at sub hypersonic speeds so that they wouldn't have to use another propultion system with the scramjet to get it to work interesting maybe they even done it already

  • I thought he was going to use the hot water from the tap.

  • Woah

    Where did u get this?

  • This alloy may be used to make flaps for aircraft wings in the future. The only problem now is that it's not very reliable. It may not worked once over a thousand times.

  • i love how this is filmed all quiet in the bathroom, does mommy know you're playing with her lighter? =P

  • so cool!

  • they should make cars out of this stuff !!!

  • Iron and Steel saw this video and didn't like it.

  • WHERE I CAN FIND THIS ALLOY??IM A STUDENT FROM KAZAKHSTAN AND IM DOING A PROJECT ABOUT THIS ALLOY!!

  • WTF!? :)

  • awesome

  • how do you shape it to the form ou want when it is hot

  • lol

     nice comments

  • Ok... cool but why above the sink?

  • @Algonkin1964 Honestly? I have no idea haha, this video was taken so long ago. (this is Rambl3r, I dont use that account anymore)

  • @joshuaj92 LOL!!...it's all good anyway Cheers!

  • If they made cars out of this, I would've crashed it all day long

  • They should make cars based on the same material.

  • @slaugh84 Already in the process of design. Got a fender bender? Just take it through a car wash and the heat from the carwash would repair all dents.

  • @theQuestOfHolyGrail BMW is making a car with a flexible skin and the shape comes from SMA

  • transformers 4 rise of the deceptispring

  • @lauris15151 madness?! This is sparta! sorry, had to.

  • @lauris15151 NOOO! THIS IS NITINOOOOLLLLL!!!!

  • @TheBONExHEAD :DD

  • smart metal, memory metal, muscle wire and Nitinol,

  • may i know where did u buy this wire?

    thanks

  • got it from a friend of mine who interned at an engineering firm @nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn984

  • u shouldnt smoke

  • woooow!!

  • NIGGAA WUUUTT??????

  • that is amazing

  • martensite to austenite phase transition............incredible

  • IL FUTURO è ADESSO !!

  • where did you get it ?

  • witch craft!

  • @KARASUadw burn em on the stakes

  • @KARASUadw BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!!
