  • 3More years till Digital Switchover in my country.

  • means that all the- MUHHAHAH! You'll never know!

  • Digital Switchover-the biggest rip-off ever to happen in this country, forced upon us,when we already have satellite and cable.

  • funny moment at 0:03

  • ... BBC2 analogue finally ends in the Northern Ireland area.

  • They can't announce the close-down, as BBC2 is switched off on a different date on different transmitters.

If they did people waiting for the start of digital would be told to switch to digital when it may not start until 2013.

They could in theory announce it on BBC2 analogue with the last transmitter in each area as BBC2 has a number of different regions.

BBC2 digital only has 4 regions (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland)

I expect they will on 30/03/13 when BBC2 analogue finally en

  • This is interesting because I live in the Yorkshire region and our Analogue has not been switched off yet. I can't believe they just pull the plug like that in the middle of a programme with no ceremony or fanfare.

  • The rest of the UK is probably going to be switched over in much the same fashion. Either that or we'll get a patronising program from the BBC that feature patronising presenters with no technical knowledge trying to explain 'what's about to happen'.

  • @pigeonshouse except the last one probably, bbc may well make a documentary on that

  • "Justice not yet done" - sums up this closedown rather nicely! Couldn't they have gone out with an old-fashioned National Anthem closedown, or at least a countdown clock?

  • No goodbye, nothing. What a sad way for Winter Hill analogue to end. This was a historic television moment. Check out how 405 line closedown was shown. We could do things better then

  • F__k Digital TV! It has already messed up my wireless network - now I have to run it in 802.11b from 802.11n :-( CRAP!

  • Is there a tech rason they couldn't have left a "retune now" caption? It wasn't a hard switchover, but a switch off, right?

I wouldn't have expected a "special programme", just a looped promo about what to do if you still hadn't retuned, or at the very least a caption with phone number for a day or two.

  • I was expecting it to be like that noise you get on Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe when he changes subject! lol I have to admit the sound of the switch-over made me jump! :P

  • lol

  • Thanks very much for posting this. I saw BBC2 was off already when I'd gone to bed but nice one for capturing the moment.

  • Didn't see it either but they could have had a 'countdown' or something. Just seems rude to turn it off like that.

  • Just what I was looking for thanks, as I missed it! Just goes off! like flicking a switch they didn't mark the event. They should have had a BBC TWO tribute show for half an hour or something and then mentioned the digital future.

  • lol and so passes a legend in a poof of static
