  • Is the music teacher Titania?

  • at 1:46 there is an orb that goes by his head!

  • @derek8182 it must be a faerie lol

  • So is Ms. Tibbing Titania?

  • @FaxModem1 I think she's Puck.

  • @mulioctaveman In that case, wow. Not at all what I pictured Puck looking like, but hey, Puck is a trickster and mischief maker.

  • @FaxModem1 But he's also a fairy which makes him an inherent shape-shifter.

  • @FaxModem1 She's a fairy for sure but probably not one that Shakespeare invented.

  • :D I would be happy to just be in his presence

  • Im sure about 1000 views are just me :D

  • I love this song!

  • loveee this movie!!!!! i bout it the same day i rented it. i couldnt resist. :)

  • I want the same fairy-teacher !

    Awesome movie.

  • oh my god ..i wanna fuck all the boys ;) hehe

  • Greatest. Teacher. Ever. Period.

  • me encanta este video... amo la pelicula al cien por ciento pero esta es de las escenas que mas me encantan de la pelicula por completo

  • wonderful ;)

  • I love it!!!! his lulu's are on point!XD sexy!!!!!!

  • lo lo looo lo lo loooo !! :D

  • I just watched this film. Moved me to tears. I loved how the actress playing Jonathan's mother played her part. We often forget that we are not the sole victims, but our parents have to carry society's prejudices along with us. It's easy to be selfish. She went through so much, and yet persevered because of her love for her son. Amazing. Such a good film, such a marvelous work of art.

  • It comes directly from Shakespeare and it is "Be as thou wast wont to be". Translated "Be as who you want to be"

  • :) Wonderful movie.

  • I believe it is "Be as tho was born to be.....Be as tho was born to see"...Great song and movie Thanks for uploading it!

  • Coolest, teacher, EVER

  • @TheNewMoon333 Agreed. wish my drama teacher was like that.

  • he is so hot and he can sing damn

  • I love this songg! His voice is amazing!!

  • Holy shit. When I watched the movie, I never realized it was Jonathon having a daydream when he was singing... That's fucking epic o.o.. No wonder I was surprised at the end D:. I don't pay attention :D.

  • @Sareth740 uh, it was him? o.o

you're so right, I would never realize that :P

  • i am directing a production of Midsummer now at the school n i have adorable boys some of whom i think r gay or going to discover they are later. i knew i was at their age. i love the part of Puck i cast a tall lean boy who is adorable at playing the part. i am basing the costume on this version with the makeup.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE HES SOOO SEXY OMG awesome song too!

  • Beautiful....

  • coolest most badass teacher ever =]

  • this is a great feel good movie. The songs are great, and cast pulls them off wonderfully. Cheers!

  • I came in at this scene and have yet to leave.

    s-sing..?lol

He was all aprehensive and didn't really want people knowing he was gay. And by the second "lou lou lou" he was like screw it this is who I am.

I can't believe he was picked on, he dresses so cool. Obviously the trend setter in that school. And that wimpy Rugby team...I've seen Rugby players the size of three of those guys combined. And what kind of school doesn't investigate a hate crime on the locker door? I know its a movie.

  • He's wearing a uniform. :P

Or do you mean how he dresses when he's dancing in his kitchen with a soda?

  • @PatientxWhatsername Oh...well it looks good on him, But No I mean how he's wearing his uniform. Relaxed and taking Easy.

Dancing with an opened soda has never been acomplished so easily. I think it had to be a prop.

  • Or maybe Tanner's just amazing. :D

I like his bag. And the ridiculousness of those wings being stuffed into it.

  • it;s so Beautifull xx

  • Goosebumps. Every time.

Thanks for posting such a high quality vid. I love being able to hear even the piano reverberating. Gorgeous.

  • Tanner Cohen has a beautiful voice. I hope he does more musicals because his voice is so rich and sweet

  • @ABookByAnyOtherName How old was he here? And now?

  • 21 now, 19 then

  • @ABookByAnyOtherName Wow, What an inspiration, I can't get this whole performance out of my head.

  • its so amazing isn't it?

  • @ elitersam:

that is my FAVORITE part =)

  • Comment removed

  • As he looks in on Timothy and see's him singing and just.. opens his eyes for real. Magical :)

  • He's great. Just welldone

  • Were the world mine, I'd make Tanner Cohen straight!!!

    I love this movie.

  • I just watched this last night.....It's simply amazing!

  • @elfendustin some people just like to complaign. thanks for posting i really much enjoy this part of the movie <3

  • hes so hot and it sounds amazing

  • I love this song.. the melody is gorgeous..

  • Omg i loved this movie...if only they were able to cast better dancers and costumes...but other then that the plot is funny and singing is amazing for not having so much training=]

  • @sailorpfat right.. thats it. But it doesn't really matter, that the description says anything different. because this video is about the music, not about the movie at all ^^

  • The movie was amazing! I wish it was just longer.

  • Such a beautiful movie.

  • Tanner is incredible - his voice is beautiful, and hes so pretty!

  • Loooving this movie.

  • just brilliant...fell in love with it..... such a beautiful performance!

  • i could listen to Tanner sing all day. What a voice

  • Incredible movie, incredible song, had a smile on my face the whole time, hearing the songs you can't help but smile...

  • love the song, and i love the movie.

  • I wish this movie would happen to me iirl :-(

  • guapoooooooooooooooooooo

  • Watch this fantastic movie in its entirety, and totally FREE at Logo online.

  • alguien tiene esta cancion,.....

  • como consigo esta cancion...???

  • I wish this song was longer... it's gorgeous!

  • i loved this movie from the first time i saw it

  • i loved it from the first time i watched it

  • What I really like about this scene is when it goes into Fantasy mode, the fantasy is Jonathan's and NOT Timothy's. They are alluding to the love that Jonathan already has for Timothy... AMAZING!

  • @Yudanashi I never noticed that, but you're right! Thanks for pointing it out.

  • I love the slight hesitation when he first says, "We fairies." Brilliant.

  • Ahh it cuts off right when it was getting really awesome. I love this movie

  • love this song (L)

  • The best part of the movie

  • BEA-UTIFUL

    *Goosebumps*

  • I think she mean's at 2:56.

  • i love the way he sings the "we" in we follow, it gets me everytime

  • the one at 1:53

  • i love it too... it's so amazing! =D

  • Whoops I switched the names. Wherever you see a Jonathan, replace with with Timothy. =)

  • Oh, and to explain a grammatical tick: "Be as thou art wont to be" is an archaic reference. In this phrase, "wont" (pronounced "want") indicates and old meaning--"to be accustomed to." When sung in this retelling (or in the original) it means, "Return to the mind you had before Puck put a spell on you. Go back to the way you were, but remember this!"

    Namaste

  • The beauty of all of this is that Jonathan is willing to sacrifice his love for Timothy--that one shining thing that has made his life whole--to restore free will and the ability of choice to those he had afflicted. It is the moment that he earned his happiness, and it is then that the film comes together and delivers (amazingly) on the promise of the play: love is found, not forced.

Beautiful scene, all in all; and I see no reason to assume it is in anyone's imagination, except all of ours.

  • This scene is the initial laying of the spell that imbues Jonathan with the powers of the flower. The drama teacher is, to me, Oberon and Titania,Hypolyta and the fairies--all rolled into one convenient character. This scene is offset later when the spell is broken during a dream sequence where many of those ensorcelled are present to repeat the refrain: Be as thou art won't to be.

In that scene a number of the characters are shown to awaken, a premonition of Jonathan that he must end it.

  • Ok, to help those who want to see the whole thing online, Netflix has it as a view now option. Wonderful site, that.

Onto the other issue: Is this scene in Jonathan's or Timothy's imagination? My answer: Neither. You have to remember, this is a retelling of Midsummer, and not just a story about a retelling. This movie is a play within a play, much like "Lilies" (another magnificent film).

As such, I don't believe that this is in anyone's imagination.

  • Awesome movie. Tanner would have been an awesome male lead for Glee...much better than the "talented" guy they have.

  • I cant believe Tanner actually sang this. I saw the recording session. He is amazing. And gorgeous.

  • Most of the fantasy sequences/musical numbers are Timothy's imagination. This one however looks like it could be Jonathan's, but it.s hard to say. Open to interpretation I guess.

  • WOW i never thought of it that way before but that makes SOOOO much more sense!

  • what makes more sense?

  • I also see it as Jonathon's. I don't think Timothy was singing directly to the door (as it showed) or that someone who "didn't know it" would just up and drop the papers. Also, Jonathon was the one reaching up, which is a classic dream sequence motion as being helped into one's role. It just fits more smoothly than if it were Timothy's, I believe.

  • I also think it's Johnathon's, at least that's what I get out of it. I'm on the same page as dustin.

Though I must ask: Isn't the song "Be as thou wast want" not won't? "Want to be" makes a LOT more sense than "Won't to be" I mean, Wont to be makes no sense grammatically at all.

  • it isn't "won't" as in a contraction for "will not" but rather "wont" a word not used so much anymore, but it means "accustomed or used to"

  • the word "wont' comes directly from Shakespeare's Play Midsummer Nights Dream. Just FYI

  • @Myzou77 I know the comment is a year old but I can't resist. It's from a Shakespearean play. But I loved this movie. Reminds me of my time in high school.

  • @Myzou77 wont is how they said it back in shakespeare plays (:

  • @Myzou77 to be "wont" to something means that you /don't/ want to be that way. To "be as thou was wont to be" is to embrace something you would normally reject.

  • @XantaraUrielArda No. Use your dictionary before telling other people what words mean!" "to wont to be" is "to be accustomed to be".

  • is it timmy's imagination in this scene or jonathan's?

  • Jonathan's

  • what makes you say that? makes more sense to me that all the imagination scenes are timothy's [same premise as roxy's dream-world-view in chicago] ---- timothy knows the jocks are waiting out front, he imagines himself on stage singing directly to jonathan and bringing him into his true self [ie, gay, as he "was wont to be"] - then he takes him by the hand and physically leads him towards the play / teacher / ensuing magic

  • I can see that. It just always occurred to me that it was Jonathan's, because I don't think Timothy knows he's peering through the crack, and before the dream sequence starts you see Jonathan's eye, making me think that we've entered his thoughts. Plus, I pictured him wanting to come into himself as he heard Timothy singing... so I took it as his longing.

  • possibly -- i'm more inclined to credit the fantasy to timothy, since the vast majority of the movie is about his fantasies -- but do agree, definite evidence to support idea this one is jonathan's ----- oh well, fun song not matter what

  • @elfendustin I agree I think its the first clue that Jonathan is interested in TImothy.

  • @elfendustin i totally agree with you, this is jonathan's not timothy's

  • @elfendustin granted thats true, but i think timothy wanted jonathan to want to see him sing, u know what i mean?

  • @shimmian i dont know if u ever changed ur mind but i believe it was supposed to make u think that until the end when it turned out that jonathan turns out to be gay

  • @shimmian

Argh, this should have won an Oscar!

  • I love this scene! Tanner's voice is a revelation; he's very talented.

This is the best independent gay film that I have seen since "Shelter," another very good gay movie.

I discovered that there are two DVD covers for the film out there. You can find the DVD with Tanner Cohen and Nathaniel David Becker on it at TLA Video on-line. TLA, also, has the soundtrack. I guess that the cover with the two boys was considered too gay for some people.

  • I never thought I could love a movie, let alone a musical, as much as I love this movie. Thanks for posting! :)

  • Haha, I just knew, dustin, that when they showd the movie on logo that your videos would get a BUNCH of hits XD

    Good work my firend (:

  • Just caught this movie on Logo earlier and I fell in love with the music almost instantly. I had to get the soundtrack afterwords, as well. Beautiful stuff :)

  • This is my favorite part ot the movie. I DVR'd it and watch it every day!! lol I love it.

  • well...i had an experience before like how Jonathan looks at Timothy everytime two of them alone.hahaahaa...seems like Jonathan wants to be friends with Timothy but his career stops him from doing it.

and by the way, tanner looks really really good when the light start glowing on him

  • I love this movie, & have to see it every day! I do wish the mom was in it LESS, & Timothy & Jonathon loving eachother MORE! lol

The blond boys in his class are shown in generally sexier moments, imho. Still it's the best ever! & I hope Tom directs more movies like this one!!! *sigh*

  • Yet another amazing song from a spectacular movie. Thanks for posting, dude <3

Do you know where I can watch the whole version of this song? It starts getting good when the teacher walks out from behind the tree and I feel like I'm missing out :(

  • I know!! I always feel like I'm missing out as well, but every single time I tried to crop out the whole thing, it always cut it short...

As far as I know, I'm the only one with actual video clips, so I have no clue where you can find one with the additional 15 seconds... except for the movie

  • Aw, well I watched the movie, so I feel better now lol. Long story short, best movie I've ever seen. Maybe it's just because I'm a random gay kid that loved tanner cohen, but I liked the way the movie flowed, and the music was freaking amazing. I love were the world mine and this song a lot.

Thank you for the excellent videos, dustin.

    =]

  • you are very welcome. =o)

  • pshhhh i didnt even know who tanner cohen was before i saw this movie and i still absolutely loved it =] just seems like being gay can have so many perks, hooray haha

and yeah the music was....a.m.a.z.i.n.g! =]

only wish they would have shown more scenes with timothy and johnathan instead of doing of bunch with his mom lol

  • *chills* I love this part of the movie. This song and the title track are my favorites. Mind you I could've done without the crazy lady vocalizing xD Still loved it.

  • he's got an amazingly-eeriily-soothing voice. i need to find the soundtrack somewhere.

  • You can find it on ITunes

  • itunes has it =]

  • God, his voice is beautiful.

  • really really love this movie!!

how come I didn't see it on cinemas?

  • I'm pretty sure it was a limited release.

  • This gave me the chills, it sounds awesome and i cant wait to see it!

  • It's amazing song! I love it!

  • This should have been everyones first clue that the jock was secretly gay. He had this fantasy of Timothy BEFORE the love-pansy allowed him to come out.

  • I watched the movie a second time and realized that every time that they're in class he sneaks a peek at Timothy. It's so cute!

  • Yeah I noticed that too...Made the ending very nice that boy still gets the guy..

  • ...a CLUE? Sort of the way the arrival of giant spaceships in Independence Day is a "clue" that aliens are invading? Are there actually people who see this movie and are too stupid to figure out he's a closet case until the end?

The first real 'clue' is that there was no way this movie wasn't going to have a happy ending. The second one was Jonathan's behavior after Timothy gets whacked with the dodgeball.

  • It does have a happy ending. Timothy ends up with the boy he likes. He secretly liked Timmothy all along.

  • That and the butt slap. ;-)

  • the best of the best, thanks men for the video uploaded

  • This is one of my favorite songs from the movie!

  • mine too!

  • HAHAHA me TOO! it's awesome. Something about the melody, and the look on the "jocks" face. So cute.

  • love it!!! anyone see visual similarities to glee???

  • Oh yeah! I didn't even notice until you said it. Glee is awesome! Can't wait.

  • how the ·"·$·"· people get their balls on those pants?

    isn't that painful?

  • on skinny jeans or what?

  • yep.. looks.. painful.

  • not really unless u have really huge bull balls. lol

i use skinny jeans and it doesn't press against my area at all.

  • looks like im one of the lovers

  • I had included that part in the clip, but when I uploaded the vid to YouTube for some reason it was cut short... sad, b/c I really like when he said that

  • did anyone notice that in this scene they say "be as thou wast wont" and in "all things shall be peace" they say "Be as thou wast want" or am i hearing things?

  • watched it everyday since i bought it, i can't get enough.

  • omg me too, except i watched it twice somedays and on one day three times lol

  • yea today ive watched it four times, can't get enough... been stuck in my head. i need to buy the soundtrack

  • can someone try to upload this film onto youtube?

  • i just bought it i will try to upload it, it was an amazing film. it should be shared with the world.

  • Besides the ending of the film, this is my favorite part. He voice is magnificent!

  • I love the ending! I was unable to retrieve that part from the DVD. =o( He is divine.

  • you can load the OST as torrent... PN and you get the link !
